Payoffs, what price silence in these circumstances?

883

There’s lots of understandable media interest in the anticipated parting of the ways of ‘Greatest (only) Ever Rangers Manager’ Ally McCoist and newco.  McCoist, as ever, has let it be known that he’s looking for a £400k golden handshake, which will almost certainly have the club offer more of its commercial assets to Mike Ashley if it is to be funded.

I hope he gets everything he asks for, bleed them dry, Ally, even if they need to sell more of their IP.

Irrespective of the final settlement, the most important outcome of the termination meetings is whether or not McCoist agrees to a silence clause in return for his cash.  More than anything else, this club needs some straight talking from trusted sources who know where the bodies are buried.

The cash will be tempting for Ally, but his open and frank voice going forward is of vastly more value to his club, if not to him.  The most debilitating scenario would be an Ashley-funded settlement with a silence clause.  Go for it, Ally.

I know at Christmas your thoughts are never far from Billy No’well.  Billy has broken new ground in the Bampot stakes and released a DVD with 17(!) of his videos.  Full details here.

You can also order the CQN Annual and DVD bundle here. It’s a great offer, check it out – tons of great reading and photos on your favourite indulgence.

If you’re late on the blog, there was an earlier article today.

This is one of the most hilarious you’ve posted till date….

Remember how much Ally gave up in TV money to take the assistant job way back. Well over £1m pa. Nobody can accuse him of being money orientated.”

    Ah the BBC…

Administration and subsequent liquidation of the former company that ran the club resulted in Rangers playing in the fourth tier of Scottish football.

In years to come people will realise that there was so much done for, and lied for about, this club that that they still find themselves deep, deep in the quagmire with no light in sight will be construed as fantasy and wishful, bent, reportage…

ALEKSANDAR Tonev has today issued a statement following Tuesday’s appeal ruling.

He said: “A lot has happened in the last few months. It has been a very difficult time for me and everyone involved. All I can do is move on from this now.

“I have made my case all along that I never used the words I was accused of using. I say again that I did not do this, I know what I am and I am not a racist.

“I want everyone to understand that, most of all the Celtic fans, who have been a great support to me since coming to the Club. I know what happened and I know that I will definitely recover from this as a stronger person.”

  12. Whether Tonev goes or not, this needs challenged all the way.

Or it will be who’s next, a precedent has been set now, we know that in the past how the rules can be bent…

  13. If I were a supporter of a wee diddy two year old club, I’d want a comer arrive Tshirt of our first major Semi Final against the Champions!

Thankfully I support the Champions though.

  14. sipsini- IMO this unworkable rule will be quietly binned, the SFA know it is guff.Tonev will be last played done under it.Hh

With Tonev’s statement and the backing of the Bulgarian F.A. – he should take his case to Aamer Anwar a top Human Rights lawyer (who would probably do the gig for the publicity alone).

  16. Bada Bing, I agree.

Unless the next wears Green and White Hoops.

Then they’ll change it for the next one.

Then they may change it back again, depending on the accused.

All in an effort to have justice seen to be done of course.

ha – the sheer volume of Timposters that slip through the Zombie Zombie net, never ceases to amaze.

  19. My friends in Celtic,

Aleksandar Tonev’s statement IMO is very clear. It looks like he has accepted his fate while reiterating his innocence.

As this is seemingly from the official website then I presume that is the clubs view.

If that is the case then we have led this player up the preverbal garden path and subsequently fed him to the Lions. Pathetic.

We as a club have lost trust, credibility and status. This may be the logical outcome that some better informed posters predicted ,but again we talk like a lion and act like a mouse.

If this is indeed the case then our custodians and presumably the player’s guiding influences should hang themselves in shame.

Because make no mistake shame is what it is.

    HH.

PS : I sincerely hope I have read this incorrectly and we are indeed a club of substance and morals.

  20. GreenPinta, gotta disagree on that.

The statement is from Tonev, not Celtic on behalf of Tonev.

The man himself may have made a decision to move on.

His legal team may have advised him to.

No evidence whatsoever to assume Celtic are behind this statement.

The opposite may be true, Celtic may have been urging him to fight on.

    I don’t know so I won’t state so.

  21. To all Celtic men, and “woman”, oops don’t want the minx or denia to throttle me, plus my daughter, watch what you say in front of anyone…then again… Maybe you didn’t even need to say it!

To be honest, that is what that the appeal verdict states.

Like most, some of the p**h we’ve had to swallow. RE, the huns has been diabolical, this one has opened new doors.

  22. I have just heard souper salary is staying on as hun manager.
