Penalty decision, Jonjoe, Albian, The Captain

361

Jonjoe Kenny made it all look so simple.  Cross after cross arrived from the right with a frequency and competence we have not seen all season.    Stephen Welsh was no slouch either.  The 21-year-old central defender stuck to task, allowing the rest of the defence to concentrate on their own jobs.

The captain delivered a vintage performance for his return to the team.  Scott Brown’s form is well off his peak, but rested, he is capable of reliving former heights.   The legs may have gone but last night’s performance was a demonstration of leadership.  He could also coach a few taller players in the team above movement and attacking the ball at corner kicks.

The penalty decision was ridiculous.  Alan Power clearly took the legs from Odsonne Edouard without going anywhere near the ball.  The decision was so clear-cut, referee Kevin Clancy must have had difficulty believing his eyes that such a blatant foul happened.  Fortunately it did not affect the result.

Post-match we got an insight into some of the deeper layers of Neil Lennon’s season.  Scoring on a rare start, Albian Ajeti’s “Work ethic hasn’t been good enough. He knows that and he’s changed that now.”  Which is good.

The manager also said Olivier Ntcham “Was a bit fed up and indifferent about the Scottish game and I think he wanted a new challenge, like a few of them have maintained since the start of the season. It’s a difficult thing to claw them back in.”

Work ethic and indifference, the traumas of being young and wealthy in a global crisis.  Hmmm.

It was only Kilmarnock, who were mostly awful, but we have deservedly lost to worse teams this season.  I expect to receive fewer “will not finish second” texts, for a few days, anyway.  You know who you are!

And I’m glad they’re going to win this title in front of nobody…

When it comes to thems, I can’t help feeling so stingy, mingy, uncharitable…

Count me in the mean spirited club when it comes to the filth :-)

Think how much less fun it would have been if during Wim’s season we hadn’t been able to witness it in the flesh or celebrated with our friends and family? They’ve missed all that.

    Good.

    67ECW @ 9:47am,

‘It started by one person criticising posters (us) for speculating on NL’s contract & bonus provisions.’

    ###

You were speculating about the specific provisions of a specific clause, of which you can have no knowledge.

    Daft.

In any case it’s generally accepted that there will be bonus provisions in his contract (because that’s the norm) which will need to be negotiated over if he’s sacked. I’ve mentioned that in the past. The idea that these negotiations would be so intractable as to explain why he’s still in post is likewise daft. So far as I know there is no enmity between NFL and The Great Desmondo, quite the opposite. If TGD wanted him out, he’d be out by now.

‘Regarding Celtic stepping sideways and allowing the Huns to win the league

I can believe that our Board wanted the Huns in the SPL ,hence the 5 way agreement, hence ducking Res12’

    ####

Why would Celtic want the huns in the SPL in the first place?

    What benefit does it provide?

What was likely to happen to the huns if they didn’t win the league this season?

In that eventuality would they still be offering whatever benefit they offered in the first place?

Are there any other examples of The Great Desmondo ‘falling asleep at the wheel’ or being complacent when trying to achieve a key objective?

    Thoughts on our 2021/22 rebuild?

I would expect us to receive circa of £45m in transfer fees in 2021 for sale of Edouard, Ntcham, Ajer, Christie, Hendry, Shved and accounting for £8m for Frimpong. Maybe Bayo too.

I think it is realistic we only spend £15-20m on incoming players to replace them above, considering the covid impact on our financials which as Paul67 says will bleed as sea of red.

Critically important we get our recruitment right in summer. Thankfully, we have extension of post Brexit work permit to allow us target Scandinavian & Eastern European markets. Possibly for the last time once UK home office enforce new points system rules on UK football associations. But club need to scout and select their recruitments very wisely.

We are also due to significantly reduce our wage bill with Moi, Duffy, Laxalt, Kenny, Brown, all likely to depart in addition to the above 7 mentioned.

2021 will be a year like no other in terms of our financials. But I am optimistic if club can get the recruitment right. It might feel similar to WGS taking over in 2005 and his rebuild job while significantly reducing the wage bill.

    If we get it right……….

Oh well, that`s OK then .Off you go.

I had thought with the League effectively over, they MIB might start being fair but old habits and all that.
