Penalty decision, Jonjoe, Albian, The Captain

361

Jonjoe Kenny made it all look so simple.  Cross after cross arrived from the right with a frequency and competence we have not seen all season.    Stephen Welsh was no slouch either.  The 21-year-old central defender stuck to task, allowing the rest of the defence to concentrate on their own jobs.

The captain delivered a vintage performance for his return to the team.  Scott Brown’s form is well off his peak, but rested, he is capable of reliving former heights.   The legs may have gone but last night’s performance was a demonstration of leadership.  He could also coach a few taller players in the team above movement and attacking the ball at corner kicks.

The penalty decision was ridiculous.  Alan Power clearly took the legs from Odsonne Edouard without going anywhere near the ball.  The decision was so clear-cut, referee Kevin Clancy must have had difficulty believing his eyes that such a blatant foul happened.  Fortunately it did not affect the result.

Post-match we got an insight into some of the deeper layers of Neil Lennon’s season.  Scoring on a rare start, Albian Ajeti’s “Work ethic hasn’t been good enough. He knows that and he’s changed that now.”  Which is good.

The manager also said Olivier Ntcham “Was a bit fed up and indifferent about the Scottish game and I think he wanted a new challenge, like a few of them have maintained since the start of the season. It’s a difficult thing to claw them back in.”

Work ethic and indifference, the traumas of being young and wealthy in a global crisis.  Hmmm.

It was only Kilmarnock, who were mostly awful, but we have deservedly lost to worse teams this season.  I expect to receive fewer “will not finish second” texts, for a few days, anyway.  You know who you are!

” Joe Aribo, loses his temper and hits out at McCart”

So is that also aloud for Sevco, lashing out ??

well if anyone had said McGrory get to feck they most likely would have been barred from their supporters bus. The thing is we tended to stick together for we knew our enemies and it certainly wasn’t the players or j. McGrory like everything else back then we had to fight for it ( education, jobs ).

Look at us now we’re now the entitled brigade always blaming someone else if things go wrong, in this case football results. I’ll leave it there.

*Fully concur with you until the last paragraph, we are the entitled brigade because we as a race and culture have worked hard fae leaving the tottie fields to get where we now are.

I watched a show on ancestry last night titled “No Irish Need Apply”. 2 Irish/ American comedians were on and they had no idea what their ancestors had gone through, when caricatures of them in the printed media showed them like apes.

The presenter, an African/American who said to another Irish/American a couple of weeks ago that in his DNA were O’Neil’s fae Ulster, said “No Irish” actually meant “No Catholics” tae, he blamed the English but if the truth be told it was the Scots and Ulster Scots who were just as much tae blame

They are now reaping what the sowed with all the trailer trash, including tangerine heid, demeaning their country in front of a world wide audience.

  3. My grandad fought hard in WW2, done a tour of France, Germany and North Africa, raised six kids and eventually settled down abroad, nobody clapped for him when he died.

Mind you, he was in the SS

  4. I cringe every time I see posters, who really should know better, but don’t, use the phrase “trailer trash” on here

Bigotry of the highest, or is it the lowest, order.

I really do blame the schools.

  9. Good evening all,

Couldn’t wait to tell you the news, tonight I became a great grandad. How lucky am I? I’ve known loads of guys and friends who never lived long enough to be a grandad. To say I’m happy is an understatement. HH

  10. Sevco get plenty of help from the men in the middle and we have contributed to that with shite performances week after week. We dont deserve to win the league this season.

The clear out has already started and will accelerate in the summer. Before then we need to be playing the players who will likely be here next season and stop playing others out of position e.g bitton at centreback and/ or under preforming, duffy etc.

Ntcham, shved and hendry should pocket the club £10 million. Ajer, christie and eduard should top that up significantly more.

The 4 loanee will return to their parent clubs and brown and hazard should go from the playing squad too. Let the young players that dont want to be here leave and just get the compensation fee. move on management team too. That leaves lots of space in the team and opportunity to reshape and improve everything.

  11. Good morning cqn from a wet, dark and cold Garngad

Are we clearing out all of our youths? That’s about 4 or 5 that are away or going.

Is there no more youth football and do the club know that next year will be the same as this with no regular youth football?

Are we really surprised that another Hun player never got sent off?

Our club should have video clips and ask for fair referreing, have a press conference about these kind of issues not trying to justify a trip to Dubai.

I am more surprised at the shoite happening at our own club and our Custoduans silence and treatment of the paying customer…US.

    HH

    D :)

  12. So, the huns need 6 more wins for their first ever tainted league title.

Watching the MSM this morning, the ignorance is astounding. They did not get demoted to the lower leagues and it can never be 55 until the poor face painter has been paid.

    Remind them at every turn.

    HH to all

  13. What use are improved performances and formations between now and the season end, if we change the mgt team at that time?

The new coaching staff will be starting from scratch again.

A lack of planning could hand sevco the initiative, again, for season 21/22.

Please don’t tell me there’s a chance we open up next season with the same mgt crew.

  14. They are probably contemplating going with the same mgt team for next season, that will soon be seen to be wrong at renewal time. Remember its all about the money for these guys, a drop off in renewals of about 30% will result in a change, however as usual everything will be done retrospectively and we’ll go in to the qualifiers with the same squad.

We’ll probably even renew the loan deals to really put the boot in.

  15. spikeysauldman on

I have heard from a reasonable source that some bloggers and journalists who claimed to have reasonable and very good sources have posted Hamilton Jobbies from time to time when it comes to the behind the scenes goings at Celtic

  16. spikeysauldman on

Uncle Jimmy – improved perfromances = increased confidence for anyone staying and increased chance of season ticket renewal FOR SOME regardless of who’s in charge.

Boys sorry I disappeared last night Mrs67ECW had toiled in the kitchen and opened a bottle of red !!

First things first – I love the debate – we disagree on a point but we do not disagree on who we support

Regarding Celtic stepping sideways and allowing the Huns to win the league

I can believe that our Board wanted the Huns in the SPL ,hence the 5 way agreement, hence ducking Res12

I cannot believe the same Board would deliberately allow the Huns the league

BUT i do believe the same Board fell asleep at the wheel – like the guy about to win a race in athletics and he raises his arms in triumph only for some guy to flash past him on the line

Our Board wanted the Huns to be on the same level as Aberdeen/Hibs/Hearst (when they were around)

Also it is one thing for us to say our Board acted to allow the Huns the league – what about the other teams in the SPL, are they all in on the act

The Huns have played 25 games in the SPL and not lost, they have qualified for the EL knockout

this is not because Celtic let them

Our failure is we stopped when we lost BR and we have gone backwards they have got stronger inder Slippy G

The simple reason we have had a crap season is because our Board made wrong decisions they showed no ambition (not supporting BR) they became arrogant (we lost McGinn for the sake of £250k), lazy (they did not interview anyone after BR) stupid (they appointed the Celtic manager in the showers)

PL has been brilliant financially for Celtic and for that we should be grateful, but his strategy has simply to be – one step ahead of the Huns – IMHO this lacks ambition – if the Huns are rubbish we end up one step better than rubbish

This strategy is the reason the Huns will win the league – we have fallen asleep

I have mentioned on here before about the CEO of Nokia assuming you are older than 30 then you will have owned a Nokia phone – at one point more than 80& of all mobile phones wee Nokia

When Apple and Samsung appeared the Nokia CEO arrogantly dismissed them – the rest as they say is history

How many people do you know with a Nokia mobile today

Nokia never recovered – lets hope Dominic Mckay has all of PLs financial ability plus a healthy dose of ambition imagination and vision – because we need it

Hail Hail my friends I only wish we could have had this debate over a pint

    67ECW

  19. So 6 more wins for the Huns…

Possibly 5 more weeks for mathematical debates to end. Probably sooner given our patchy form.

Less than 2 months to Neil Lennon’s leaving do, for those who’re minded.

Like this bloody pandemic, the finishing line is moving into sight.

Done right, I think we have what it takes to bounce back to winning ways next season.

    Here’s hoping.

    67ECW @ 9:47am,

This debate had me chucking last night.

It started by one person criticising posters (us) for speculating on NL’s contract & bonus provisions. The same person then starts speculating on reasons why Celtic maybe working in cahoots with SFA/Sevco Rangers to award them the title!

Anyways……we are all on the same side and want the very best for our club.

We are all the good guys!

Mind after the Dubai farce, I started to wonder if we (Celtic) are indeed the bad guys :-0

  21. Bhoy From The Boyne on

Them being 6 wins away is a very sobering thought.

Sleeping at the wheel and all that….

  22. But Rangers are still being liquidated ?

If so they may have the world record for the slowest longest death of a football club ever.

  23. Bamboo,

Sadly the last 9 years have taught us that modern Scotland, the SFA and our club all need to perpetuate the continuity lie when it comes to them ‘uns.

They’ll always be around, in some format. It’s up to us to move beyond this limiting thinking. I hope we can do it, starting this summer.
