If you were a professional football player, you would love to be in the Celtic dressing room tomorrow evening. You would have the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself; put in a big, meaningful performance. Record a bit of history and create a uniquely memorable victory.
There are some players who are fraught with anxiety on such occasions, but there are others who NEED these games, need an edge, to reach their peak. If we have a team full of the latter, Legia are in for a torrid night.
I’m doing my best to ignore the naked opportunism in our media this week. There is no point complaining about it, lose heavily and you become vulnerable to those who live to revel in a Celtic defeat. Don’t lose and you don’t give them (friends and foes alike) a chance.
We’ve been here before. Artmedia, Braga, Utrecht, Sion (despite the reprieve) and Karagandy all exposed an aching heart. European football is unforgiving, try to transition and you’ll find someone ready to exploit, but that doesn’t mean you are wrong to transition.
We might talk about this transition more later in the month but we have a game to win first. Can’t wait.
Check out the fantastic work by the cyclists who are taking part in the Paradise to Cardenden Cycle 2014 on 6 September. You can join them – all you need is a bike. Get involved, you’ll be delighted you did, I promise. Read about it here.

I’m not talking about Independence until after tomorrow night.
I have a feeling it might be all we’ll have left to talk about shortly, sadly.

Always :-)
You going tomorrow night?

Your concern about the effects of Anorexia Nervosa is well placed but you were a bit harsh on Pete The Beat.
Anorexic has 2 meanings, the main one associated with the condition you commented upon but it also is an adjectival description of medicines which produce loss of appetite.
There is, as you will know, a cross-over between Anorexia Nervosa and Long Distance running as some fanatic competitors have driven themselves into such a condition as they seek to reduce body fat.
Anyway, it is a terrible condition and your post helps to keep it at the forefront.
Just noticed South-side Laundry Services open for business tonight. Cash only.
The promise there is to wash everything through the biggest spin in the city.
Downside is everyone leaves dirtier than they arrive.

We will still have, at least, the hopes of the Europa League to torture us.

Anything I have looked up on the internet still hasn’t convinced me one way or another yet. I think it will come down to our foreign policy to be honest. I’m tired of supporting this UK government and it’s hypocritical policies. My main worry is that a Scottish government will be much of the same. So what is the point?

You know my thoughts on the referendum, and you also know that they are irrelevant since I don’t have a vote.
What you have said is absolutely correct, that everyone should make their decision based on as much information is available to them.
Then decide based on how they feel it will affect them and theirs, but with an eye on how it will affect Scotland as a whole. Pretty much as in any election.
Btw,yer living proof that there’s nothing worse than a convert!

Well, lets face it, would you put money on this squad even getting through that?
It will be over by the end of August one way or another and then we can get back to Independence.

I’ve been tweeting that muppet looking for a stronger response to the Paestine conflict. Good to see he has finally grown a back bone on this. Sadly though he did not take the lead on this issue and has waitied until after a tory backlash in Westminster with one government ministers resignation and some governemtn ministers coming out publically looking for a stronger stance against Israel from the Tory\libdem pack of wolves.

If Commons is for the off it gives me some cause for concern.
I find it strange that a guy who was all set to sign an extension with a view to remaining long term and possibly in a coaching role has had a change of heart. His wife has also spoken out about how much she loves the place and how she, Kris and her kids have never been happier having found ‘home’ at Celtic.
It could be that he never expected to get the opportunity to play in the EPL and the riches it brings at this stage of his career and has decided to grab it but with the rumours of all not being well in the dressing room this sort of unexpected potential transfer rings alarm bells for me.
It could, of course, be made up nonsense and he will sign a new contract this week saying how much he loves working with Ron and John!

If you have never voted Conservative, why would you vote No to Independance, thus allowing your country to be ran by a party that 90%(?) of the country did not vote for?
This is our ONE AND ONLY chance to rid Scotland of Tory rule forever!

To be fair, they’d already said they’d take in people needing treatment. I don’t recall that offer being made by Westminster.

That’s a start and something I would fully support. He should go further though, will he, would we as an Independent nation go further than to call for an arms embargo? That is the kind of information that I want answered, as yet I have not come across any information even close to answering my concerns.
I too am undecided on yes or no.
I’ve been asking myself
What do we have that Westminster badly want to keep? They are desperate to keep us.
Of the 100% financial input that we make to Westminster, Scotland only get 27% back.
So I’m told, and that is staggering.
They need us – but do we truly need them?

I get where you are coming from and no I have never voted Conservative. That though would not be my primary reason for voting Yes. Although it is a big factor.

I see the blog’s advertising the Scottish Parliament’s “Festival of Politics”. They’d have saved themselves a fortune simply by getting a log in to CQN :¬)
Elsewhere, I understand that irony is a dramatic device whereby the audience understands the meaning of or significance behind a character’s actions, such meaning otherwise hidden from the character itself. Must have been one of Darwin’s beautiful ideas I suppose.

I agree that we may end up with much of the same. But I do believe that an Independent Scottish government will be more answerable to it’s eleoctorate. I believe it will be closer to the pulse of the eloctorates feelings. Being in Westminster most Scottish politians are to far removed from Scottish opinion with the occasional day here and there back in Scotland living off the gravy train of deciet, lies and uncaring nature of that beast. Scotland I hope will see it’s politicians closer not only geographically to their voters but to the heartbeat of their voters opinion.
it may all be just more of the same. But if that is as bad as you feel it’s going to get then what is there to lose? And if it does turn out to be more of the same then at least Scotlands vote will count at every following election giving us the power to get rid of governemnt we don’t like. As it is now our voice goes unheard.
Anyways back t the footy.

It will be a loss of income. I think that is obvious. That is my point though. There has been very little information on what our foreign policy would be. Would we as an Independant nation support something like that, even if it cost us in income & diplomacy?

Scotlands been getting its pockets pinched fir years son!, we’re yI been living!!.

I have a horrible fear that our chances of going through tomorrow night will be hindered even before KO with Ronny’s team selection.
Yesterday I did a 170 return journey to Edinburgh Airport and back home in 2.30 hours. Last game, it took me 3 hours 15 mins to get into Murrayfield. Here’s hoping it will be an easier task for all of us tomorrow evening.
We have read a lot of political stuff on here these last hours and rightly so. I just hope it remains on the blog and that no one misguidedly, as UEFA will judge it, carries political banners into Murrayfield tomorrow evening. We do have previous and the MSM will certainly report us to UEFA ,or is that the task of the match commander?
If you are “faithful through and through” you will be there tomorrow evening “with hope in your heart”.
We shouldn’t go into tomorrow nights game thinking 3 goals will be enough, as it probably won’t be.
Certain players(eg. Commons, Griffiths) should be advised to shoot on sight of goal and we can take it from there.
We certainly have a chance…
HH

I certainly won’t be betting on us getting through to the Europa League Proper.
But I will not be betting against it either.
Especially, since we are not yet out of the CL yet and, even if we were, the draw to determine who we play to get into the Europa League, has not been made yet either.
Oh and, off the football,
End Edinburgh Rule (Before it begins)

I think the reporting is a wee bit of KC’s agents PR putting pressure on the board to get the contract he wants to stay at the club.
If he leaves it’ll be down to club not wanting to pay what he is looking for over any dispute with new management team IMO at a time of downsizing and wage reduction.

Has KCs’ agent said anything?
Logged on to my Paddy Power account earlier for the first time in weeks and discovered, to my astonishment, that I had forty odd pound in my account….

Just a note to say a sad farewell to a fellow lifelong supporter, Chris Martin from Airdrie who has passed away after a sudden and short illness.
Chis was a true Celt who was passionate about the team since childhood and maintained his support through the good and bad times. He will be sadly missed by his family and the many friends and fellow supporters who knew him.
You’ll never walk alone Chris, rest in peace.

Not that I am aware of. Hope it is his agent putting the pressure on!
