Yesterday, Celtic did what Celtic do this season. An uninspiring performance resulted in a perfunctory 0-2 win, away to Kilmarnock.
For the second game in succession, Celtic took the lead in added time at the end of the first half. Callum McGregor crossed from 35 yards, hoping to find Adam Idah. Kilmarnock dropped too deep and when Adam got close to the ball the Killie keeper had to wait to see where it would go. Callum’s cross dropped inside the far post and Celtic took an unexpected (some would say undeserved) lead into the break.
The man of the moment had a quiet game until the 71st minute – when Nicolas Kuhn sparked into life. His first touch saw him ghost inside his covering defender, before he shot low into the corner of the net. Favourable comparisons with the Portuguese continue to gain momentum. Kilmarnock knew their chances of taking anything from the game they could have won had gone.
A break from real football gives us a chance to take stock. Lots to be pleased with, but some strategic concerns.

strategic concerns , how ?
Three points was always the objective and we achieved that. It’s not always going to be beautiful football – sometimes you have to dig out a win. A special word for our spooky keeper.
On track for a 100 point season, into the final of the League Cup and well placed to make the CL play-off round – not sure what the concerns are, Paul? Getting too far in front of partner club?
strategy syggests the big picture 5 year pla.
my only current concern is brendans contract after year 3, which is next season.
We’re seeing two very different aspects to our game this season – there’s the nice attacking football and the robust, doggedness to dig out a win when the attack isn’t quite on it.
Trusty and Kasper have certainly added more strength in the defence, which allows us to win games with perhaps only fleeting moments of good attack play.
Two floodlight matches at Tynecastle and Pittodrie in the coming weeks will see us break the back of this league campaign should we prevail.
You can’t judge the success or failure of a strategy on one game.
You cannot create a football strategy that gives you splendid football in every minute of every game.
With Livi out of the league, we will only have this strategy re-tested at Rugby Park, one more time. They are a bottom 6 team on form at present and McInnes may well be managing a team soon that will give him plenty of opportunity to call out signing and chanting.
Good afternoon all from the Brazen Head.
Celtic donated more money to the Poppy appeal than any other Scottish club.

For those worrying about the next 13 days of a break from the Celtic don’t fear.
With luck and decent form we will have 26 games in 14 weeks coming up from 23rd Nov.
Nov 3 in 8 days
Dec 7 in 31 days
Jan 9 in 31 days
Feb 6 (provisionally) 7 in 28 days
6 in Champions League
1 domestic Cup Final
2 away to nearest 2 rivals in League
1 home to nearest rivals in League
1 away at last domestic venue we lost
2 in defence of Scottish Cup
Arguably 11 games where we want our A team on the park.
Potentially 14 games where we can hopefully utilise our squad to the max.
Of course if we fail to reach CL playoff then we will not have 2 of the games in Feb and also if we lose the Scottish Cup 4th round tie. Likewise if we are really successful and reach the top 8 then we would have 2 less CL games.
Exciting times !
Strategic concerns for me are fairly obvious but personally I am happy enjoying the football this season.

I imagine Paul could be alluding to Brendan’s next move. I had been confident that he would stay the full three years at least – I’m not now. Progress in the CL this season coupled with expected domestic honours may prove to be a ‘double-edged sword’ – sweet success for Celtic, a repaired CV and a pathway out for Brendan. HH
Every time we play killie Brendan is fulsome in his praise for McInnes, is this praise reciprocated as I have never heard it?
Never quite understood it, he’s a bang average coach in my opinion who on Sunday not for the first time played to the gallery.
Perhaps in private he’s a good guy
Don’t think I’ve ever got involved in the poppy debate, just one thing , those who condemned the fans publicly couldn’t hate us more than they already do anyway.
My preference is to observe the silence, wouldn’t dream of telling anyone else what to do.
Mcinnes passed Stage 1 of the Sevco Interview process yesterday
McInnes has a history of sending his players out to get in Celtic players’ faces, literally, usually with an elbow.
Jayden Stockley’s unpunished assault on Keiran Tierney is a classic example.
On that occasion, Kieran had to leave Hampden for emergency medical treatment followed by dental surgery, so I suppose Adam Idah was lucky that he only lost a few cl’s of blood yesterday.
McInnes is a sleekit hun canute just like the rest of his rancid ilk.
McInnes obviously tells his players that they cannot match us playing football so to do everything to stop us. That means pressing high, getting in our faces, being hard in the tackle and to foul as required. If you ever look into FF forum, that is what they want their team to do as well. After each defeat to us, they think they stand off us, give us too much respect and allow us to dictate the play (not to mention that the refs and linesmen are all Tims).
But, here’s the funny thing, over the last 3 seasons when they have been looking for a manager, most of them do not think McInnes is up to the job. Some of that will be due to him turning them down before, but most don’t think he is a very good manager. The last time I checked, Muscat would be a much more popular choice.
I guess… Some strategic concerns, may be a forthcoming article. At least it’s not as cryptic as many other comments (I wish I was clever enough to figure them out 😁). Kasper has been excellent in the last two games. I don’t think we’ve ever had a keeper as good with the ball at his feet. Trusty also looking to be a great signing. Given we might lose both Taylor and Valle, that’s a priority for the winter window. Another winger required also. I see Dane Murray is playing every game for Queens Park and wonder if he’ll be good enough to be a backup for next season (don’t see Welsh nor Nawrocki having a future with us). Loved tbe level of professionalism in the last two games.
We should have asked after the game, why the assault on Idah, wasn’t referred back to Walsh by VAR

With all due respect – perhaps it is Brendan offering an honest opinion based on his extensive knowledge of the game – he certainly believes it as he has said it so many times. McInnes knows that Brendan is a top-class coach and doesn’t feel the need to say it – in fact I’m sure he would be too embarrassed to dish out throw-away compliments to someone of Brendan’s stature.
On his comments on the breaking of the minute’s silence; of course he is going to have something to say, he is the manager of Kilmarnock and has witnessed a ceremony arranged by the club in their own ground brought to a premature halt. His employers and his supporters would expect him to say something. Imagine a minutes silence for a former player being shouted down and cut short by visiting fans at Celtic Park – would you expect the Celtic manager to mention it? Of course you would. I thought he was measured in his comments while getting the message across.
I don’t know why some Celtic posters demonise McInnes – I think he has done a great job at Aberdeen and Kilmarnock with limited resources. Of course he is also demonised by some of the Ibrox support for turning them down – so there’s a first – Ibrox and Celtic posters in complete agreement on one issue at least.
Good afternoon all from the Queens Park Cafe. Still no sign of the damned elusive handsome hun.

…………..
Utter Bollox I would suggest.
First of all, according to McInnes it was the fault of DAVE KING that led to McInnes NOT going to Ipox as manager. Also according to McInnes, Wattie Smith advised him to go with his gut feeling, after Dave King tried to ” Move the Goal Posts” at the last minute and McInnes felt he could NOT trust King ?
As for a Celtic Manager raising the subject of some fans being disrespectful after the passing of someone connected with Celtic, I do NOT remember that ever happening when Desmond White passed away and soon after, Celtic were playing the Huns at Celtic Park in an evening game and the Hun support displayed one of the most VILE and DISGUSTING Banners I have ever seen in the Rangers end. I can’t remember WHO was the Celtic manager at the time ( MAYBE Big Billy ? ) but whoever it was, I do NOT remember the Celtic manager speaking out about it at the time ?
It was so VILE, that the Celtic fans were raging, and the Polis eventually moved in and REMOVED the VILE Banner.
On a broader scale, WHEN have you ever read or heard ANY Celtic Manager speaking out when the Hun fans launch Potatoes onto the Pitch at Celtic Park and/or when the Huns fans Chant or Sing about Child Abuse at games against Celtic ?
On a different subject altogether, my grandson, wee soul is 8 asked me in all seriousness, what continent is Israel in , Africa I said, how come they play in european football and song contest said he !!!
Out of the mouths of babes, eh

Wouldn’t be money related, would it?????

……………
Why have I NEVER read or heard McInnes saying anything about the Hun fans Singing their Blood Songs and Chants when the Huns visit Rugby Park, after all its Kilmarnock FC who make all the arrangements for games played at Rugby Park.
So WHY does the Killie manager remain silent when playing at home against the Huns ?
English ref David Coote suspended pending investigation. Don’t know full details.

If that’s genuine, bye bye David. Wouldn’t happen here, if a ref made remarks like that to Brendan he would get the job as newclub ceo.

Absolutely Israel isn’t in Europe however it is in Asia not Africa- wouldn’t want your grandson to fail his geography test.
The poppy debate is multi facetted. I had a relative murdered by crown forces in Ireland. The current recipients of support currently are the soldiers who disgraced themselves in Ireland and I have no intention to support them.
However, my Grandad was a Republican who volunteered and was in WW1. He wore a poppy in remembrance of those who died and his unit was almost wiped out by gas at Pachendale.
I would observe a minutes silence in memory of the men who fought in the world wars including my Grandad but not for ones since.
Superbru Round 12 Update
An improved forecasting week with more predictable matches led to better scores all round. Not enough to challenge the 17 points scored by The Token Tim in Round 4 but very creditable nonetheless. This week’s smug Brendans were:-
1= James Cant & Spootiemad- 12.5 pts
3. Celticrollercoaster- 11.5 pts
4. Sannabhoy- 11pts
Meanwhile, down among the Hibbees, we have this week’s whining McInnesses:_
64th= Raplochbus, Neilbhoy, Bhoy From The Village & Gutenberg- 3.5 pts
68th- Big Jimmy- 3 pts
69th- Melvin Udall- 2 pts only & a Wooden Spoon
fitbabhoy earned 0 pts as he made no predictions at all.
In the Marathon race towards glory in April/May we have:-
Gaz- 81.5 pts
The Token Tim- 79.5 pts ( Falling behind because his wife let him make his own picks for his birthday)
3= Spootiemad & Cosy Corner Bhoy- 69 pts
And , our long term Kamalas are:-
67th- An Tearmann- 47.5 pts
68th- Jonny the Tim- 46.5 pts
69th= Melvin Udall & BelmontBrian63- 46 pts.
It’s a crowded field for the Disappointing Stakes.
SPFL football does not return until Sat 23rd November with 4 kick offs at 3 pm, one at 5.45 pm and finishing with our visit to the minis at 7.45 pm at night. I shall do my best to be drunk by kick off that night. See you then.
I wasn’t a bit surprised Brendan was asked about the minutes silence . The fellow who was interviewing Brendan wasn’t interested in the game he couldn’t wait to ask the question . I am surprised Brendan didn’t say he was here to talk about the game though . After all the headlines from the usual rags would have already written . I liked james McLean laying it straight before all the media his reason for not upholding all this rule Britannia stuff . That horrible individual Morgan had a right go at the Celtic fans calling us all scum regards the coronation . He gave it the highest nationwide focus , I was hoping some of the clubs clever personalities would have set him right .
Strategic concerns, flip it — strategic opportunities (corporate 101).
What Brendan, staff and players have done since early 24 to now is remarkable; however he needs more support. Dermot Desmond cut a forlorn figure at half-time in Dortmund and his pain was obvious. He clearly wants to succeed as does his son Ross and with their passion rubbing off on each other they will help the club find solutions going forward.
The squad is light with the international break and our Japanese trio now all called up.
There are some areas where we are still sadly lacking starting with the CEO….
Jimtim at 18:06.
With you on that.
Brendan is pretty skilful at landing messages and shaping narratives.
Was (and am) surprised he gave fuel to a cabal of agenda driven cretins at Sly Sports … and beyond.

A stiff arm to the head and an ankle break attempt against Motherwell in the previous league against Motherwell, justice was done on that occasion with a red card. Adam beware.
