For the third time in a month, Celtic lost three goals in a game to Scottish opponents. This is not a one-off, it is not a consequence of misfortune, poor refereeing, or injuries.
With 20% possession, Dundee can consider themselves unfortunate that a late penalty denied them the win.
You and I have discussed the need for Brendan to sort things. He is a fortunate general, his domestic opponents have both capitulated and the two crucial games ahead are at home. Not that will dissuade Kilmarnock or Young Boys. The manager has work to do.

agree re defending corners , concentrate more on the flight of the ball to clear it other than facing and staring at opponents and having no idea where the ball is also badly missing Maeda’s help with his defensive cover on the left side when he is out.
I have said it before, our problem is too many back and side passing.Sometimes we get a lengthy cocktail of both.Every team knows this and are playing accordingly.Easy to press,as we are doing it 30 yards from our goal.A 70 yard pitch left ,with 22 players on it.Crowded.
Opposing teams regularly launching high balls in,keeper kicking long to pressure our CHs as our FBs go way wide.A very average Hun team took our system of play apart, should have been a lesson, seems not.I noticed last night, the routine in full on mode,Kyogo came into space screaming for the ball, nope sideways. Its as if ,see the nearest Hoops, pass. No head up.
The transfer saga now in full blown mode.See Villa strengthened,£20 million.Wonder why?.
Have we fallen asleep at the wheel?.Can’t even sort out GT.Less than 4 weeks to go to qualifiers.
” Eh,we have qualifiers. No one told us.Where you sleeping at that wheel?.”Naw,just resting my eyes”.
Fair play to Dundee, they worked their arses off last night and maybe should have won the game.
With all the goings on I have decided my strongest 11 would be
Casper, Aj, CCV Scales and Taylor
Engels Calmac, and Hatate
Kuhn Kyogo and Maeda.
As we keep hearing, players are not robots and therefore prone to error. Trusty has been good and is faster than |Scales but is as weak as piss . Idah, working hard but just needs a goal to get his confidence returned.
Yang much the same as Idah although his final ball bot too clever, but I’m sure he knows that.
Bernardo, a class act , just a bad night.
We do neeeed a Broony in midfield and cannot understand why we let holm go as he does have a good bit of dig.
Nuff said

Last night CCV was grabbed and hauled to the ground at a corner for us..Replay showed in all its glory.Foul to Dundee. That’s what the Ref saw???????.Where was VAR?You know that at Dundees 3rd goal, there would have been fouls going on.Never saw them..
The response to last night across Celtic cyberspace seems to be……….buy more players!!!
Simples.
To remind: Trusty + Idah + Engels = £26m
All have thus far underwhelmed.
How much would you give the manager to spend?
Lubo,
Yes,but maybe with one exception,Luke for Calmac. We cant keep ignoring this. For a couple of months he has been poor,so midfield is poor.If he is poor, and Hatate is,theres a load of our problems.Maybe try Engels there, move Calmac further up.I don’t know.
TURKEYBHOY on 15TH JANUARY 2025 2:58 PM
In real time it looked a bit like CCV and his opponent were both at it but the reply clearly showed that CCV had been fouled therefore should have been a penalty . Ref and linesman were much closer to the action and should have spotted it . VAR would have confirmed .
relly poor readback.

Trusty getting it tight today.Yes he had a few wobbles, what CH does not?.CCV had a few himself last night. The one that seems to be getting everyone het up,was the clash with Mad Murray over on the touchline, leading to a goal.If I had a pound for every time Murray has literally barged into a defender,I would literally have a lot more than I have now😉.From the side as well.Normally a foul, but not last night.Hard to be stronger when your not expecting it.It happens.
Murray was raised in the frozen North.Suckled on Irn Bru.Why his hair is Girder Ginger.

Do you honestly think drawing 3-3 with a rangers team in the LC final then losing 0-3 to them 0-0 at United and 3-3 at Dundee is an improvement on the pre Leipzig form ?
You genuinely don’t see an alarming trend in us being given a serious test by teams who spend a fraction of our transfer and wage bill. Both at home and Europe.
Almost forgot…
PoTY…
Thought Luke gave a good account of himself, Kyogo was on great form on the wing – Kasper gets my third vote for being the usual rock and been very unfortunate with the goals…

Lose v Killie and the atmosphere pre Young Boys might not be too good.
Miss out on last 24 after spending a fortune and we have a very different scenario.
Personally I would love it if we had a manager capable of evolving and even maybe actually identifying and developing players. Not just talking about himself as doing it. Hopefully he can. I haven’t seen it yet myself. Kuhn who was signed by the previous regime might fit the bill re developing. Possibly AJ again signed by previous regime might also be another.
Johnny Kenny deserves minutes so we can see what he may bring to the team, he scored 5 i think in the UEFA Conference League, Idah looks completely lost and requires someone to take him aside and find out what is going on with him, he isn’t producing and I doubt we would have bought him for 1m on this form.
Take chances, score goals and that will help the team to improve.

Best answer the manager why Greg is not sorted. Way more to has David Brent outburst than just the GB singing about KT.
Of course many can’t see his failings and only those of the players tasked to carry out his instructions.
Good evening all from the Victoria Bar. It’s not a hard life being a Tim, in our recent history It’s been a joy and pleasure. Correction- It’s always a joy and pleasure.
No hun in Paradise ever again.
its no surprise to me that our defensive woes occurred mainly down our left side. Without Maeda in the team, Greg Taylor weak defensive ability is exposed for all to see. In fact, last night we say Trusty pulled over to that area to help compensate.
Sign a defensive left back with physicality and strength and that problem is solved. It also gets our wingers higher up the pitch with more energy.
2nd priority is midfield – Do you notice how slow we are in midfiled. NOT ONE PLAYER has pace to track back (we only see Khun and Maeda catching up). Engels, McCowan, Mcgregor, Bernardo, Hatate ALL too one paced – instruction is to foul before teams mount counter attack.
We have work to do this window and so far I’m not convinced Rodgers and recruitment can find that talent – $20m on Engels and Idah isn’t justified yet.
BURNLEY78 # 4:22 PM,
True, the Young Boys game is the biggest in a generation, we need to on top form for that.
The Killie Cup Game couldn’t have comw at a worse time – in fact if the SFA was remotely interested in adavancing Scottish Football in Europe they would have postponed it.
As you know, this is what we are up against, only one Club gets those kind of privileges.
AJ was most certainly signed by the last regieme and what a great signing the bhoy was.
However from January 2024, we have had professional and clear communications as far as recruitment is concerned.
We hear from the manager every week, we hear from the senior players regularly.
Brendan Rodgers approved Nic Kuhn’s signing…
…“Kuhn had interest from other clubs but insists the call from Celtic and a chat with boss Brendan Rodgers made up his mind to make the move to Glasgow.
He said: “We had some really good meetings, we talked a lot and he told me what a great and big club this is although I knew about Celtic before and I also saw some games.
“He convinced me to come here and everything he told me was really nice and I had the first training session today.
“It was clear at the moment Celtic called and showed interest that I wanted to come here.
“There was some interest from other clubs but the moment I received the message I didn’t think about going somewhere else.”
As for Rodgers, he said of the new arrival: “We are delighted to welcome Nicolas to Celtic. We believe he is a dynamic player who has an excellent level of quality and all the attributes to fit well into our style of play.
“He has the profile we are looking for, he has a real attacking intent, a player with great pace and ideas, the ability to create and score goals and a player with a great energy and work ethic.
“He is someone who can play wide on both sides so he brings with him that versatility for us too, and myself and the coaches here really look forward to working with him.”

We need to stop the smoke n’mirrors.
We need to pull together
Our manager is more than capable of taking us to the next level, we must back him…

SSN reporting we are close to agreeing a pre contract with Tierney
Flimsy display from Big Austin last night but there is undoubtedly a very good CB there. Confident he will adapt and last night will be a lesson. I think it would be counter productive to take him out of the team again. Let him play through it.
Recency bias makes us elevate current players above their status and nostalgia and sentimentality does likewise. Let me employ the latter and state we take three points in that game with Scott Brown in the midfield. We are technically an excellent team despite our dip in form but could really do with a bit of a b*****d in the XI
Brown was much more than that obviously but his dig, drive and attitude is ocassionally painfully apparent

Ceasefire deal in Gaza
Back to Basics @ 12.49
Yip, Engels is rotatable in Brendan’s five possible for three slots midfield . A big fee is an irrelevance, it’s just manna for Celtic detractors, it was just the going rate.
Managers always seem to play the team captain regardless Scott Brown was never phased out either. The ‘jilted lovers’ in our support that don’t trust BR would make you think he was actually playing at Dens not watching from the sidelines.
Greg Taylor has been an astonishing signing pound for pound great value, super assist for McCowan’s goal last night. Be lucky if we get him signed up, despite the perceived he ‘comes up short’ nonsense from the sizist supporters.

Since we’re on ‘ Lists ‘
Transfer window wide open
Holm – Loan away
Tilio – Loan away
Kwon – Loan away
Lagerbielke – Loan away
Palma – linked with a loan move
Maik Nawrocki – linked with a loan move
The last of the NOT Brendan window (summer 23) , practically wiped since Brendan Rodgers arrival, only Yang remains in contention as a back up wide player, it’s no surprise he wants and needs signings, plenty room in the revolving door.
No complacency when they want £60 to see Young Boys
HH
This form slump happens at this time every year. It’s mostly due to tiredness, I reckon. So many games, very little time to prepare for the opposition. And just as in previous seasons once we go back to one game a week we’ll start playing well again. Young Boys is the big one for now.
Good learning experience for Trusty last night. He can’t afford to be complacent when defending against any team. He was bundled off the ball (fairly) for their second goal and then did not focus on winning the ball at the corner for their third. Both Dundee players did well. I believe our problem at the moment is midfield where Callum has lost his edge and Hatate is very unreliable. I think Engels looks like Callum’s replacement in the coming seasons. He’s getting strongest and more impactful every game.
Not getting concerned in the slightest with our current form – the Bhoys have got us in an amazing position this season – on all fronts.
Currently only Easyjet are promoting ‘the big orange sale’….time yet.
