Persistent poor performances

173

For the third time in a month, Celtic lost three goals in a game to Scottish opponents.  This is not a one-off, it is not a consequence of misfortune, poor refereeing, or injuries.

With 20% possession, Dundee can consider themselves unfortunate that a late penalty denied them the win.

You and I have discussed the need for Brendan to sort things. He is a fortunate general, his domestic opponents have both capitulated and the two crucial games ahead are at home. Not that will dissuade Kilmarnock or Young Boys. The manager has work to do.

  1. BOURNESOUPRECIPE @ 4:56 PM,

Yes, whatever was going on there it didn’t work out.

Pretending it did and it’s been Brendan Rodgers’ incompetence at fault just doesn’t cut it…

If the lads go off and have a great career, well good luck to them…

I’m sure we will hear about it:))

    Hail Hail

Did you get yourself sorted re hotel and a pub ok in Dunfermline’s tonight ?

A couple of my pals usually go to the East Port on a Wednesday. Never any bother there and definitely not a rangers orientated place.

Seven Kings is also good for watching football but it is pot luck re the preferred team.

  3. BURNLEY78 @ 4:22 PM,

In the player development front, of course you have a point…

Now some think the jury is out on the circa 10 nn development players- i.e. Engels, Idah vs the 3 mn development players, I.e. O’Riley, Palma.

Now time will tell, but I think it will become good.

However, the Board’s policy of regularly selling a high value player most windows does seem to be at risk – and much as I hated loosing Wanyama, VvD, O’Riley etc etc

It was that policy that contributed to putting us in a very strong financial position.

A good run in the UCL will obviously help mitigate the short fall out, but much as I’d hate to see a Kuhn, Engels or Bernardo go sometime down the line, that will happen.

In the meantime, I guess our only HVP shop window candidates are Kyogo and Hatate,.

Interesting to see if KT gets a start against The Hotspurs…

    Hail Hail

  4. TIMBHOY163 @ 6:28 PM,

Well, that’s interesting – it’s been great to see the support Greg has had recently

POV: In our first choice “defence” he is the weakest link.

If we sign KT* he will be our best defender

In an instant we will have improved our defence by double…

    Hail Hail

  5. Can we not just get a manager who will play the players to their strengths and teach them new stuff like horses for courses etc?

  6. The Celtic Way fable has 2 strikers playing in the box for Celtic. When was the last time that this happened?

  7. Playing a front 3 with one striker who gets hardly any service because “tippy tappy” needs at least 28 sideways passes before we play a pass forward to the hungry but starved striker, and 2 wide front men who are pish at serving the striker, and both usually small wide front players must stand and watch the only big tall guy from midfield taking all of the set pieces which 9 times out of 10 amount to a pile of wasted time.

  8. Rio Ferdinand what Arsenal need is an Ally McCoist, as he is standing next to him, they dont half blow smoke on behalf of former players, I doubt Ferdinand would have seen much of him to judge.

  10. B78- my appointment for a Fire Risk Assessment in Edinburgh tomorrow rescheduled for next week, I was in Dunfermline today,so would have made sense to stay overnight, but not required, thanks anyway.

  11. I know what Ferdinand means.A poacher.Which Mc Coist was very good at.Although it pains me to say it.

  12. Hi OJ how are you? I’ve missed you terribly.

It’s just not the same in here without your name calling and top comedy routines.

  13. Papers and Blogs, due to the length of time it has taken us to get our” Targets” ( must not be in when we call )in,have now started regurgitating every name mentioned in the past 3 years.

    Well,its a job.

  14. No worries Bada Bing. Hopefully we have an enjoyable evenings entertainment watching rangers incredible record home performance coming unstuck.

Or maybe better watching Ange’s mob.

  15. What to watch,Spurs or Scum supported team ?.

Think Spurs with the odd wee shoofty at their score.Might just be like Aberdeen to turn the corner tonight.

    Then again😣

  16. I think Mark McGhee and Ernie Lynch are hiding in an underground bunker hoping kev doesn’t track them down.

  17. Embdae know the visiting schedule for Estadio Nacional next weekend, 24-27 January? Thanks

  18. TinyTim on 15th January 2025 8:18 pm
