Petrie would rather sell McGinn to anyone but Celtic

602

It comes as no surprise that Celtic have made a bid for Hibernian’s John McGinn.  The player was the standout central midfield performer in domestic football against a Celtic team who are at their strongest in that area.

Should he sign, he would be a similar age to that of Stuart Armstrong when he joined Celtic three years ago, and who he will replace in the squad.  He is also a better player that Stuart was when he left Dundee United.  He has the engine and attitude for Brendan Rodgers to significantly improve him.

Goals grab headlines and the two McGinn scored at Celtic Park last season, as well as his goal at Ibrox which secured a win, raised the player’s profile, but goals only tell a small part the McGinn story.

Hibs will be happy to wait until the last week of August and will try to attract other bidders.  Despite taking a back seat when it comes to day-to-day duties, Rod Petrie remains a key figure at Easter Road and will do whatever he can to sell to anyone but Celtic.  I don’t expect Celtic to pay whatever Hibs ask, so the deal is far from assured, but with only 11 months remaining on his contract, he will definitely leave Hibs before 1 September.

I see Belgium got awful leaky at the back last night….

  1. Hendry looking big and strong in this game.

Moussa has been excellent and with luck a hat trick.

Their number 9 playing like a sleek it hun.Left the boot in a few times and when he has possession he leans back into the Celtic player and flops.Ref is giving them.

Hiya guys, posting a bit earlier tonight, thanks to the CQN’rs who replied to my Feyenoord post last night, I was unable to reply being tied to the couch with the blood and tears running out of it watching that horrendous extra time, even after all these years I‘m still waiting on Yogi bursting the net with that run through at the start.

Gene, I do see your point about not watching it again, but it was just to let me clear up a few things I couldn’t remember. As for Seville, I feel the same way about that game as Gene does about Milan, I went all the way there with a ticket and still never got in, but hey ho that’s another story. Looking forward to Colombia Engerlund tonight, I’ve went 2 nil Colombia.

Yeah Gene, I did read about all that Airport chaos and strikes in Milan which I believe also affected the players on the way back home, also looks as though a lot of rain fell during the match, just can’t associate it with all the razzamatazz of a modern day Champs League final.I also believe we had up to 30,000 fans there but you still couldn’t hear us for all these horrible Dutch horns
