The early season noises around Scottish football are unlikely to settle Celtic anxiety-disordered nerves. Hearts are under the control of a very credible 29% owner, Newco are enjoying their annual status as the next big thing in European football, Hibernian secured their best European result in 50 years in Belgrade last night and Dundee United went all retro to earn an away draw in Vienna against Rapid.
In 2012 when Scottish football was told that we “need a strong Rangers”, you and I agreed that what we really need is a strong showing from the other city clubs. It’s early days but the trend is pointing upwards.
One noticeable absence from the above names is Aberdeen, who played some nice football at Tynecastle on Monday night but left pointless. They face the champions on Sunday with the penalty win over Celtic in May their only competitive success since April.
We know what to expect on Sunday. Physical intimidation is their default mode. They will kick and slide in, in an attempt to disrupt our rhythm and discourage Celtic players from showing for the ball. As a fan, I never really know if this works, but teams still do it, so I assume it has some effect.
Celtic need to be ready for the battle, take the fouls when the inevitably come and go back for more, without hiding and without trading blows.

GGH,
Really?.You think that none of those questions are relevant?.
All relevant and one also said that anger is growing among supporters about the lack of signings, I feel today’s announcement of a new contract for Johnny Kenny is a cynical attempt by those in power to look as if we are taking this window seriously, we now have Idah, Yamada Kenny and Maeda as option for the centre forward position I doubt we will sign another centre forward probably sell one or loan one, No disrespect to Johnny I hope he is the best number 9 at the club go for it young man when you get a chance.
Watched chunks of the presser.
I can’t sit through the full 20 minutes of that inanity.
I dont know how Brendan can stomach it. Respect to him.
Tone and body language are worrying.
To me? He looked fed up.
On the last question about Shin, I didn’t see anything amiss in his response
Unsaid bit?
“I pick the team. I made the changes. Those changes helped us win the game. What are you on about, moron?”
I dont know a single Celtic supported who was surprised at Shin not coming on as a sub on Sunday.
He’s been here 2 weeks. Needs to earn his spurs.
A mischief maker. Hope he is uninvited to the next one.
(In fact, apply the above to them all, and give BR 20 minutes back in his working week)

Aye indeed. hun asking questions for hun.
IMO I don’t think Brendan Rodgers sees Johnny Kenny as a player ‘for now’ and it’s not the board that pick the side. ( yet ) Giving Kenny a new deal to 2029 more likely means he’s going out on loan again, we did the same with Odin Holm before he went to the USA. It also, increases his sale price should we decide to sell, and we already know how the board like to get top dollar.
Watched the press conference and I think Brendan could have and should have curtailed the questioning on the transfer front. He was asked the same question in a number of ways and answered them in the same manner, albeit he seemed to be more negative/less confident in his response as it went on. A simple update of something along the lines of – hoped to have more in, not happened yet but doing all we can. It got to about 17 mins I think before we heard Aberdeen match mentioned. We really let these journos have too free a hand in these press conferences.
Turkeybhoy
Not saying they aren’t relevant, Just using these as some examples of things that he might consider would be better kept in house
I’ve seen BR getting annoyed by these cretins asking questions such as the one about why Johnny Kenny was getting a game before Shin, his contract situation etc and I believe the hacks ask these questions out of malice.
If it were me, I would tell them that my contact situation is no one’s business but mine and the club and that my reasons for making decisions are between me and the players involved.
It should be Brendan’s choice to speak about what he feels is relevant or should be in the public domain.
It isn’t his role to give the Daily Rager column inches.
Maybe he should begin his responses with “ Listen mate”.
Worked for Ange.
Spotted two hoops jerseys in La Granja (middle of nowhere) today .
Two young Spanish lads .

Middle of nowhere is the best place for you. 😂
The cretins asking the questions at the press conference are always looking for what they call ‘the top line’. They often get in a huddle afterwords and come up with this so called ‘top line’. You’ll notice that the headlines that appear later are usually a variation of the same idea…not many of them have the required individual talent…it’s the herd mentality…
They are not Journalists- they are ‘Reporters’ – running an AI like CoPilot over the meeting transcript could produce better output in seconds
Rodgers would have no issues at press conferences if the board actually done there job correctly and in a timely fashion. Instead we are very light of quality on the wings and up top. In fact if the board was as proactive at purchasing assets as they were at selling them I.e., player, merch etc we would already be finished transfers in this window, joke!!!
Going to watch Birmingham City v Ipswich at 8pm.
Iwata and Kyogo starting. Looks like Kyogo playing on the right of a front 3.
Just watched the BR presser. How embarrassing that we put our manager through that – he’s walking a verbal tightrope trying his very best not to say he works for a load of charlatans. What kind of people and company put their employees in that position week after week when there is literally no need.
Not sure how he puts up with it – if I were him I’d have told them to ram it by now. Think his three year promise is the only reason he is still here.
Say what you like, the transfer business is not going away, like the Epstein Files. Its news.We are the problem, and its a bun fight for the rags.We name our squad for the play offs very shortly,so we will be going with what we have.I ,and a lot more find this incredible, never mind the media. Not a sinner on here has a clue how we will line up on Sunday.Which is the best line up?.
We are in a disgraceful situation. Those backing the Board on this, are taking as big a gamble on it being all right on the night,as our decrepit tight assed Board are.
I think Jim McLean had the right idea about pressers, lol.
Moisey,
Not according to some.BR should have done better.
Its become pathetic. If I was BR,I would refuse to do the PC.
Tell our resident Trappist Monk Nicholson to do it.He knows the answers.
Interesting with Kyogo playing for Birmingham .
Birmingham put a bid in for Kyogo at Celtic ,refused.
Kyogo ends up at Birmingham for same fee as Celtic got.
Chris Davies manager ,has he stuck it up Lawwell.
Just a thought does our esteem chairman hold a grudge against him for leaving.
Hope not I think he would do a good job for us in the future.
Hope we get rid of Lawwell soon HH
Ooooft, Kyogo scores and ref blows for a foul.
Never a foul.
The Blogger
Correct very soft foul, great finish though…

BSR,
Well your forecasts for the Press conference, all came true.Astonishing.Did you write BRs script?
———————————.
Thank you, you could have done that too, most Celtic supporters have seen this movie before.
Here’s the team for the Sheep from Brendan
Schmeichel AJ CCV Scales Tierney
Nygren CalMac Hatate
Yang Idah Maeda 😂
Chris Davies?
As big fat Derek Johnstone was fond of saying, “I like the cut of his jib.”
Kyogo looks fast and makes great runs which are starting to find him at Brum
Will take a few games to get some sharpness about him
I hope he scores a barrowload
Iwata looks great as well
Would love to get Davies up here, after Brendan
Maybe, but its a real tough sell for him
He has to have a real bad run this year for teams in the epl not to be chapping at his door
We were once known rightly as, “THE BEST FANS IN THE WORLD” now we’re known as lame lambs who’ll virtue signal anything to get our tummies tickled and be told how wonderful we are, erm, when we stopped doing walk ons and did daft tifos like everybody else, so we lost our uniqueness, and now nobody with real eyes would give us a second glance.
No doubt that’ll be the fault of trolls, or right wing racists.
So, 60,000 sheep make sure that their yearly monies are on their way to Celtic, on season ticket renewal day, all of them paying £1,000-ish for their new tickets.
And the Tory board look at each other as they lie on one of the beaches on Dermot’s private island, and say what?
“SEE YOU NEXT YEAR – DAFT ASSES!”
or,
“HAHAHAHA WHAT ARE THEY LIKE?”
or,
“AH FKN LOVE THIS GRIFT!”
or,
“CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THESE IDIOTS WHEN THEY REALISE THAT BRENDAN WILL, UNEXPECTEDLY LEAVE, HAHAHA, AFTER YET ANOTHER PISH WINDOW SLAMS SHUT, AHAHAHAHA, AH FKN LUV THIS JOB, LYING ON A BEACH AWE FKN YEAR THANKS TO THESE CLOWNS, I FKN LOVE IT! HAIL HAIL, AHAHAHAHA!”
or,
“DID THEY SELL OOT AGAIN? THESE ARE THE KNOW ALLS WHO LAUGHED AS THEIR BOARD STITCHED THEM UP WITH £49 SAME CLUB LIE TICKETS, AND THEY FKN BOUGHT THEM, THEY FKN DID, AND THEY STILL DON’T KNOW, AHAHAHAHA, WHIT UR THEY LIKE?”
or,
“AHAHAHA, JEEZ, AHM CALLING MA NEW DUG “GLAIKIT” AFTER MA 60,000 PALS, AHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA!”
or,
“CAN WE NOT JUST SACK RODGERS BEFORE SEASON TICKET DAY, MA SIDES ARE SORE CAUSE OF THESE IDIOTS, AHAHAHA, OOHAHAHAHA, GIRUT, AHAHAHAHA!”
Who would rool it out?
BSR,
Yes,I hope so.Remember when we had a fantastic Sub bench.
Them wert days lad
Strange business. We are said, ahem,to be interested in Brondbys ” Explosive” winger,Bischoff, who granted,HAS had lavish reports.£6 million seems to be the asking price.
Now,we have Tillio, and Yang, one with no future but wanted by Rapid.Together, they would raise the fee for Bischoff.Makes sense to me.
Its this inertia to do anything in the market that is so insane.
Wether we sign new players in this transfer window or not , hopefully some individual will buy out our major shareholder ,what has he accomplished at our club nothing, the main stand needs a complete makeover ,restricted views are still there ,a 10 thousand waiting list ,and that’s for starters ,

Couple of Spanish wearing the Hoops in Benidorm this summer also, were getting international recognition, for some reason, and its positive :)

Would we not be better just financially starving the Tory “GREED IS OUR GOD” bassas out?
And if they don’t resign after that, then Celtic fans will have to invade the directors box and drag the bassas out by their twirly moustaches etc?
How are we ever gonnae set Ireland free if we canny get rid of these creatures?
Ref Chris Davies
Sadly that ship has sailed.
Many gave me stick for advocating his strengths 2 years ago when Ange left. Clear difference in spurs with Davies and when he left there.
Unfortunately if he continues well at the blues he won’t look back now.
Iwata looking every inch the defensive mid we thought we had signed and think we need.
Pity we decided he was surplus to needs last year.
Maybe Davies knows that he’d have to play the tippy tappy brain drain, or the 60,000 sweety paper rustlers will be unhappy?
Good grief, did Chris Davies sign Lindon Dykes🫣
