The early season noises around Scottish football are unlikely to settle Celtic anxiety-disordered nerves. Hearts are under the control of a very credible 29% owner, Newco are enjoying their annual status as the next big thing in European football, Hibernian secured their best European result in 50 years in Belgrade last night and Dundee United went all retro to earn an away draw in Vienna against Rapid.
In 2012 when Scottish football was told that we “need a strong Rangers”, you and I agreed that what we really need is a strong showing from the other city clubs. It’s early days but the trend is pointing upwards.
One noticeable absence from the above names is Aberdeen, who played some nice football at Tynecastle on Monday night but left pointless. They face the champions on Sunday with the penalty win over Celtic in May their only competitive success since April.
We know what to expect on Sunday. Physical intimidation is their default mode. They will kick and slide in, in an attempt to disrupt our rhythm and discourage Celtic players from showing for the ball. As a fan, I never really know if this works, but teams still do it, so I assume it has some effect.
Celtic need to be ready for the battle, take the fouls when the inevitably come and go back for more, without hiding and without trading blows.

Oh dear, Dykes gets penalised for an ‘Iwata at Tynecastle’ like penalty.
Ipswich probably rob a point.
Can’t say that was a good game, very physical kyogo made many darting runs hit the post with a lob and Birmingham scored with the rebound, the obvious thing for me was its very physical but not a great spectacle.
Dykes had his arm well up for no reason
Love Kyogo , hope he does well but Birmingham City .Remember Celtic played them down there in a friendly, their fans made the Newcastle ones look decent.Even Karen Brady got involved.Glad Ipswich scored.

I loved the physicality, the niggles and the the overspill into scuffles
Was like a good old 90’s game of occasional footie and lots of dig
TBF ref was soft and let a lot go, the bigger things that should have got shut down
Not made any easier by
pulling up some really soft fouls, allowing frustration to set in
A stronger ref would have reigned that in quick
Liam Gallagher is the last Rock n Roll Star, gallus as fk,absolutely brilliant tonight

Birmingham put a bid in for Kyogo at Celtic ,refused.
Kyogo ends up at Birmingham for same fee as Celtic got.
Chris Davies manager ,has he stuck it up Lawwell.

Not getting this one, Fanad.
Are you suggesting Birmingham paid the same fee for Kyogo as the French club paid us?

“Hidden message”
He said [INSERT WORDS] but what he REALLY meant? …
… was something else .. which just happens to align to what I think.
Bad enough when anonymous fans on blogs come out with this delusional nonsense …

No way any quality player is coming to Scotland without European Cup group stage guaranteed. Beggars belief our assimilated tims just don’t get this.

Does that include Nygren and Tierney?
Considering that we appear to be shopping in the same discount stores as the huns I don’t believe guaranteed cl football is an issue.
I’m constantly told we can’t shop in more expensive markets where the cl may carry more weight.
BR told the support last week he won’t be here as a maintenance manager, he is clearly not being provided with the players he needs so I’m taking him at his word, utterly disgraceful from a plc board who put the plc far above the first team, the wealth created largely by the supporters is now the plcs to hoard or fritter as they see fit, the same faces on the board making the same decisions, nightmare scenario is a management team of Kennedy Maloney or Lennon, we have a Manager at present who wanted to keep building the football team and showed good progress at the highest level in European football, but that is not what this board want to spend money on, it is now up to the season ticket holders to decide what they want to do.
Don’t post often but…
By far the most valuable players are those with that extra bit of trickery that can unlock a packed defense. Celtic have lost two recently, Khun and Kyogo.
We are left with a talented team but forced to adopt ‘battering ram’ tactics which will not win this league.
The buns have signed two tricky wingers and they will undoubtedly overtake us this season.
It’s not rocket science, we have a business board, not a football board.

did anyone read uefa’s official tweet on the murder of palestinian player suleiman al-obeid?
that has to be one of the most disgusting tweets i have ever read from any official/public organisation.
whoever wrote or sanctioned that should be sacked.
it had so many levels of disbelief in such a short comment.
sick bastards.
Can’t find the eufa statement…
Found it.. agree it is abhorrent. I dreamt of sailing my boat from Crete to Gaza and live streaming my ‘welcome’ from a drone.
Be a good way to sign out.
We should finance a Palestinian flag for every supporter (except the Green Brigade) on our next home game.

Don’t you dare expect us to spend any of this on new players, you ungrateful, lower class rabble.Just pay the fekin money and zip it.

Oasis star @NoelGallagher daughter Anais representing the @CelticFC colours at Murrayfield last night 👏🍀
Sesko confirmed at Man Utd.
Newcastle clearly wanted him.
I suspect (not expect) they’ll go after Wissa more aggressively.
No upside for Celtic. Possibly no downside as rumours of Brentford’s interest in Maeda are just that – rumours.
Time (3 weeks) will tell the reasons for Daizen being a tiny bit off it so far.
Either just a wee bit tired (from long season and new baby) and coming back up to speed gradually …
… Or, the prospect of pastures new and richer subconsciously affecting him.
The disgusting UEFA tweet is deservedly getting traction
A two minute check online of Brentford FC Player salaries is interesting.
Might be bollocks of course but, from the looks of it, Brentford might be starting to struggle with the old wage bill too.
The top earners salaries and the total wage bill don’t align.
Realistically can only mean a dozen or so earning big and the rest getting paid very modestly.
If so, credit to the now departed Thomas Frank’s for keeping solidarity in the group.
Also, (if the data is true) their top earners are mainly the guys they have paid big fees for (but also Mbeumo got a boost) who are not necessarily these best performing players.
Sustainability wise? … feels fragile.
and there are those who wanted the celtic fans to toe the line, thems the rules etc etc, bullshit feck uefa, feck adidas and feck the sickening celtic board
Big Sutton giving the Board both barrels today.Evey day our wee band of”Nothing to see here”supporters, becoming less credible. They will stick to their indomitable spirit of supporting the Board though.Uber fans, dontcha know.
Back to Basics
Brentford now being linked with Ouattara at Bournemouth – so maybe interest in Maeda was speculation?
Tim- Brentford will lose both main strikers
