The early season noises around Scottish football are unlikely to settle Celtic anxiety-disordered nerves. Hearts are under the control of a very credible 29% owner, Newco are enjoying their annual status as the next big thing in European football, Hibernian secured their best European result in 50 years in Belgrade last night and Dundee United went all retro to earn an away draw in Vienna against Rapid.
In 2012 when Scottish football was told that we “need a strong Rangers”, you and I agreed that what we really need is a strong showing from the other city clubs. It’s early days but the trend is pointing upwards.
One noticeable absence from the above names is Aberdeen, who played some nice football at Tynecastle on Monday night but left pointless. They face the champions on Sunday with the penalty win over Celtic in May their only competitive success since April.
We know what to expect on Sunday. Physical intimidation is their default mode. They will kick and slide in, in an attempt to disrupt our rhythm and discourage Celtic players from showing for the ball. As a fan, I never really know if this works, but teams still do it, so I assume it has some effect.
Celtic need to be ready for the battle, take the fouls when the inevitably come and go back for more, without hiding and without trading blows.

Our regression squad scored 10 goals in 2 games against Aberdeen in the spring of last season.
Included in the goalscorers were Hatate, Yang, Idah, Kenny, McCowan, McGregor, Maeda.
Aberdeen were crap after Novemeber, the losing run should have seen the manager sacked.
Why the fear of going to the dung heap ?
It is not like they can play for penalties.
Tim Malone – cheers.
Hopefully that one is true.
On face value, probably feels more realistic.
This summer, Brentford have lost their head coach, their best (and most important) player and their most effective holding midfielder.
… And are in danger of losing their second most important player.
Based on that alone, I think there is genuine peril for them to navigate this season.
Ouattara is a safer bet.
Young, explosive, exciting and EPL experienced.
Plus he is unlikely to be a huge earner at Bournemouth.
Bigger fee required, £35-40m perhaps .. but Brentford have pocketed much more already this summer.
Whether Ouattara has set his sights higher than another small EPL club remains to be seen.
Maeda….
Some say he is a bit off his game. Maybe….
He is at his best when he gets a fast pass when he is at least 25-30 yards from goal.
Real estate in which to turn on the speed.
When Taylor was in that inverted position in the midfield, we slowed everything down. Ball went to Taylor, then after a few touches, he’d move it on to Maeda. Too late. Less space, less Maeda.
Just give him the ball quickly.
Weeron.
Saint Stivs @ 1:09pm.
Nice one. Facts and chuckles.
For anyone who thinks SS’s description of the venue for Sunday’s game was derogatory for its own sake?
Google “Pittodrie meaning”
From memory this was a question on The Chase once.
“Which Scottish club has a stadium whose name means …”
Not 100% sure but I think they chose Ibrox
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Rodgers saying the JAPANESE boys are project players ,why did Rodgers give the go ahead for Celtic to sign them,he should have had the courage to tell Nicholson and co no thanks ,tomorrow up in Aberdeen i would play Maedi through the middle ,with Nygren on the left wing ,

lets all do the huddle on 9th August 2025 8:54 am

Its disgusting that the great name of Celtic FC is even in Europe because it is rigged to accommodate the criminality, gangsterism, and genocide of these scumbags from scumbagland.
Celtic post 1994 are not a “Stand Alone Club” since they became a company driven by business interests.
Somewhere along the line the colonial settler controlled mechanisms will have back doors into the people that you are entangled with ie: Uefa, Fifa, Sfa, Spl, Scottish Government, Uk Government, ALL of these are backdoor controlled.
Why do you think it has taken a leak from WPB journalist, Yvonne Ridley to expose the double talk out of both sides of their lying mouths of the Scottish Government?
https://theferret.scot/arms-firms-israel-grants-allegations-genocide-gaza/
Hundreds of thousands of Women and Children murdered live on the internet for 2 full years yet it took for John Swinney to be publicly shamed by Palestinian protesters last Saturday for the vile Snp to come out one after another to criticise this evil and be shamed into using the word “Genocide” and sleekit Krankie is now saying it cause she’s trying to sell a book about her poor self.
Her poor £500,000 per year pension, I wonder what dark deeds she carried out for that little backhander?
She should be in jail for all of the Covid Vaccine murders alone, and will be, if Scottish people find a pair of balls and honesty to vote for WPB and ALBA parties who’ll guarantee IMMEDIATE Independence from the rigged swamp ie: London Financial Markets, Westminster, Nato, Eu, etc.
And dig up IMMEDIATELY, The Scottish Peoples Natural resources, Coal, Gas, Oil, etc, and IMMEDIATELY[No never ending protracted wrangling with crooks] and invest these resources into the Scottish Economy.
You don’t negotiate with thieving crooks, you jail them!
AND, WPB and ALBA Party will leave the “BOOKS” open online to show everybody where all of the Scottish Peoples money has gone, and let Celtic fans and others have the evidence at the touch of a button to admit they have been played by the vile Snp, whilst they got blood dripping backhanders from the vile lobby groups.
Celtic fans need to be set free from these evil Charlatans.
WPB and The ALBA Party, and many others will deliver GET TO THE POINT Politics, no waffle, spin, or a big boy did it and ran away bunkum like has been happening since mass murderer Tony Blair opened the Scottish Parliament. lol
Kev of the permanently rid necked Blantyre keys.
Maestro.
A correct strong viewpoint Maestro, the seat will sold over and over again.
Your right, mate complained last year as he got moved up and nearer gb,hard for him to see, this year he was bang on centreline.

Embdae know any of the Dundee team?
Pep Dodds back for yet another stint on Sportsound. How many times is that now? You can only assume he demonstrates a more impressive vocabulary on his application forms than he does on the radio……
“Rangers are everything Celtic aren’t right now.”
What have they done that is deserving of this headline?
The amount of hacks that have crawled out from that darkened pit to stick the boot into celtic & big up the serial losers is a real headscratcher
https://www.67hailhail.com/news/hugh-keevins-lists-five-reasons-why-hed-put-his-state-pension-on-rangers-beating-celtic-today/
What about the 6th reason?
Artur Jorge said so.
Maybe that was the “hidden message” in the article.
Imagine your livelihood was dependent on a business model that required you to man mark a no mark has been in order to generate clicks?
And run down Celtic in the process.
What an absolutely pitiful existence.

As well as Celtic I really hope folk are all highlighting how complicit our elected members are.
My local guy Downey lied to me on my doorstep when he said it would be different when they were in power. Well maybe not lied but misled me.
Now in power they are terrified of their dictator leader. They are supporting incredible anti democratic legislation and outright genocide. Every labour MP in Scotland is guilty. Not one went against Starmer.
In the 50 years of sportscene chat tonight I doubt Celtic winning 26 leagues to thems 20 and Dons 3 with United 1 will be mentioned.
Indeed. Courtesy of Perplexity I have another factoid for them if they’re doing a review of Scottish football over the past 50 years:
Over the past 50 years, only three Scottish football clubs have been liquidated:
• Airdrieonians: Liquidated and went out of business in 2002.
• Gretna: Entered administration and was liquidated in 2008 after a rapid rise and fall.
• Rangers: The club entered liquidation in 2012 following a failed Company Voluntary Arrangement, resulting in the creation of a new entity that continues under the Rangers name.
‘take the fouls when the inevitably come ‘ love the subtext paul67 – when the ref can no longer let shinnie clugger it.

Half-time at the amnesia dome. Rangers are winning by no goals to nil
Watching Thems v Dundee. Dundee playing very well have hit both the Rangers posts with Butland stranded. Dundee have been composed in possession. Winning tackles and trying to play football. Rangers are struggling at the moment. HT 0-0
I found it hard to tell if the huns were just made to look good by their European opponents in midweek . Having just caught about 20 minutesof the Dundee game I can confirm that is indeed the case .
They may go to win as Robertson is becoming more influential as their 12th man .

Dundee are doing as expected, which mostly means getting 11 men behind the ball for 75 per cent of that half and hoping for a chance or two. Which they got.
Rangers look no better or worse than we did last week. Struggling against teams that sit deep and leave no space to exploit.

Revert to sectarian singing. No songs…at all.
Huns down to 10 men.
Martin brings on Raskin, I assume to give some fight in the team.
He’s a snarly wee Hunnish shite but surprised he was dropped.
Huns now down to ten men, straight red, last defender foul.
Off out for dinner. Fingers crossed we have the chance to go five clear tomorrow 😄
