Picked up, shook out, turned into someone new

508

Neil Lennon seemed hurt by the performance yesterday.  “Some of [the players]look like their minds are elsewhere at other clubs.

“I don’t know if they have been tapped up, I don’t know where they are mentally, but you can tell by their body language they are not with us at the minute and I’ll have to sort that out.”

“I have pulled them out of places that no-one had heard of and put them in the shop window.

“And I want payback now. That is simply not good enough.”

Those of you of a certain age might have thought that sounded a bit like:

“You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar, when I met you.  I picked you out, I shook you up and turned you around, turned you into someone new.”

Of course, that girl from the Human League retorted:

“I was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar, that much is true.  But even then I knew I’d find a much better place, either with or without you.”

As Human League declared in verse, talent will find its level, but only if it performs.  It doesn’t matter where they came from, players who cannot excel in the SPL will drift into relative obscurity on leaving Celtic. There has been no exception to this rule.

I read long interrview with Jaroslaw Fojut in January.

He is hundred percent fit. In January he signed for Norwegian Tromso.

Talked about his past, Celtic lost perspectives and his future. He is a fighter and believe that will be playing for the big club in the future.

Me ? I would love to see Polish lad playing for Celtic but I don’t think that Celtic scouts are working here hard.

I lost a watch at the old Celtic End at CP in the 1980s.

    Never got it back!

I remember there was a cop standing just a few feet away – I think it was him!

    Almost Supernatural. ;)

  6. On another note.

Russian league just started. Spartak Mscow beat strong Terek Grozny 3:1. Movsyan had great debut scoring hat trick. New Spartak squad after revolution did better than in Autumn under Emeri.

  7. Good night all…. Enjoyed the memories, god bless all here.

Thanks for that info on Jarislaw. I’m happy to hear he has recovered and is back playing football. Has he signed a long term contract in Norway?

  19. Frankly , I’m fed up with Lenny’s rants following a poor performance

Has he ever taken responsibility for a poor team selection …genuine question …I don’t know the answer

I thought yesterday’s rant …which may have had some substance ….was unwise and the reaction of a rookie manager …poor show

As for who in yesterday’s squad wants to leave …I wouldn’t try too hard to keep any of them …the team as a whole has been fairly poor of late

If its indeed Ambrose …well…bombscare IMO …

  20. Does anyone remember us singing “We all live in a green submarine” at Tynecastle, just after the Beatles released their “We all live in a yellow” version? Seem to remember it as a lovely summer’s day.Mind you, all the games seem to be that in my old mind’s eye, apart from when Big Yogi is ploughing through snow and sleet and bearing down on goal with a bevvy of opposing players clinging to him for dear life. One of THE great sights at Celtic Park.

Johnny Doyle hitting the ref with the ball.

  25. Have to say Lenny is not making his life easy with some really daft post-match comments.

    1) he is never at fault despite picking the team / tactics

    2) The other team never, ever, deserve to have won – well except in Europe

    3) the one that really gets my goat…… Unless we have Gary in the team we won’t win. The same Gary who doesn’t want a new and improved contract, who has barely kicked a ball in the last two months.

As a way of teeing off his other players and geeing up the opposition at the same time Neil is doing a great job just now.

Beginning to wonder if HIS mind is elsewhere and hate to say that.

  26. garygillespieshamstring on

one of my highlights was hearing the hun result from Berwick over the tannoy during the second half of our cup tie v Arbroath. I guess they had no lights. Unusual because back then they announced the scores as A nil nil so that only folk with a programme knew what was happening.

Paul67 hinted that the infrastructure is as good as it is going to get, we are the envy of the World IMO.

I doubt we can get a better Coach than Neil to bring on these young players, Neil is the best at bringing on these young players, that was the reason he got the job in the first place.

The brutal facts are that a few of the players want away and that is why it is essential we get as many home grown players in the first team as soon as possible.
