Straight from the off on Saturday you knew this would be a more accomplished Celtic performance than our last league outing against Dundee. Brown and Bitton in central mid, with Charlie Mulgrew partnering Erik Sviatchenko in central defence.
Charlie is at the back end of his career but you know you are getting a seasoned SPL pro, who is going to clear his lines, attack the ball, and not try to be Beckenbauer (i.e. he’d rather not attempt a 20 yard pass than risk misplacing one). I’ve liked the look of Erik since he’s arrived, our clean sheet count has improved immeasurably, but the Dane was culpable at the Thistle penalty. He was turned, then put his arm around his opponent’s waist. A nailed-on penalty which could have cost us in different circumstances.
I loved Kilmarnock striker Josh Magennis’ comments after his teams’ defeat at Pittodrie: “We can do Aberdeen a favour next week by beating Celtic, we haven’t lost in our two games against them this season.”
Pin it to the dressing room wall at Lennoxtown, Ronny. We battered Kilmarnock last time out, creating 20 attempts but couldn’t convert, and we let them off the hook earlier in the season at Rugby Park by conceding a late penalty. No mistakes this time.

Winning Captains
That all fine and well
Why should Celtic take a financial hit ? And be paying Kilmarnock ?
Why not force Kilmarnock and others to bring the price down through a managed protest ?
This doesn’t make sense to me, granted I don’t do away games
Celtic’s gesture, whilst welcome, will not I fear add many more to the gate,if your mindset is that you are going to the game then £6 will not put you off, despite the blatant prejudice in the Killie pricing quotation.
This malaise started with the non action or comment last year, when McLean and Muir decided we would not win a treble, add to that the Thomson Semi, the Gordon second goal foul, and the constant re-writing or interpretation of rules when Celtic are involved.
If you add to that, what appears to be no action re Res.12, and the lack of appetite to recover lost revenue, and Titles, lost through cheating then it is no wonder the fire has significantly reduced.
The MON bandwagon crowd don’t understand this, and have defected, those of us who suffered through Syme,Valentine,et al without the benefit of the Internet retort, have seen it all before, but at least we had a Board who although not great at announcing attendances,at least were Celtic men.
Sorry but £6 does not compensate a lost Treble and a League cup.
PS I already had my Killie ticket.
Bhoys we charge between £26-29 to away fans at CP, should set an example and get them lowered!
Ah that explains it winnings. I thought it odd that the board would do anything magnanimous.
Once again it’s the support that forced their hands. Funny how they failed to mention that in their statement huh?
Not sure I believe that Celtic are picking up the tab. A wee deal with Kilmarnock no doubt.
CELTIC Football Club would like to extend its upmost thanks to supporters for their brilliant backing at today’s Scottish Cup tie with Greenock Morton in Paradise.
We would like to reward you by subsidising the travelling support with a discount against Kilmarnock, with tickets now £20.
Meanwhile our next home game will not be a sell out but we will charge you £29!! And next season we will not let kids with season tickets into Sevco games unless they buy an adult ticket.
Hilarious that I thought Celtic were doing something nice………they are trying to take credit for them being forced into doing something…….

100% correct Bhud
A wee bit of deflection on the news around Res12 I would suspect playing a part as well ?

The plc board emulate sevco by pulling the wool over their fans eyes … the old firm indeed
And another thing – personal view, having to entice our own fans to support a club the board have driven to much lower standards in terms of football, through a cheap management team
And fans have had enough of it

Do you agree, Celtic should be paying Kilmarnock to have our fans attend their stadium ?
Not how I want my club spending it’s money Bhud
Not being negative, just don’t understand that as a business decision
Just popping in to say a heartfelt thank you to all at The CQN Family for the prayers, kind words and condolences.
I am always touched by the kindness and compassion of the Green Place.
Got my flights booked today so that’s a weight off my mind.
Starry
Maybe Celtic should have offered every fan who had bought a ticket M&S vouchers, or Wetherspoon Vouchers or similar to get any credit or recognition.
No doubt there would be some who would question the ethics of companies involved or look for any downside.
If supporters are unhappy about paying £6 less then I suppose they can always give the money to the Celtic Foundation.
Money is tight for many and our supporters deserve any little help they can get.Full stop.
Hail. Hail.

Fancy a wee trip to Kilmarnock on the Tommy Gemmell CSC bus? We can pick you up at the bottom of your road!
Away days are more fun than sitting in the Parkhead library.
We have a league to win so I’ll be at the league games and leave the Scottish Cup to those with more robust stomach’s than me.
Oh have you Friday 8th April in your diary? It’s the 20th Anniversary Dinner of the Tommy Gemmell CSC and we will have more Lions than Edinburgh Zoo!
Anyone fancy joining the CQN tables let me know – david@cqnpublishing.co.uk – ladies welcome.
It’s a good gesture from Celtic for the Kilmarnock game but surely we should be trying to get as many fans to paradise as possible.
Castle Greyskull is nearly sold out every week, price £20.
If £20 is plenty for away fans surely it’s enough for home fans?

What is the latest on res 12?
Are we now measuring the distance of res 12 to crossing the line in units smaller than nano meters?
Soon quantum mechanics will apply to resolution 12 where Wanks constant can no longer be ignored? Thus the event horizon will be in the past and everyone will agree, slap each other on the back and say job well done!
However the conservation of bigotry, sectarianism and cheating in the black hole that is Scottish football will ultimately result in a ground state known collectively as the Old Firm state.

About Jinky, not only could he take it, he made monkeys out of the culprits, with the ball and with tongue.
I posted this before, but just in case anybody doesn’t know the true story, CFC v OldRangers at Ibrox, two minutes in, Jimmy on the ball and D. Provan levels him. “Sorry Jimmy, gaun furra baw”, he says. MIB gives free kick but nothing else. Three minutes later same story, D. Provan lands Jimmy on the running track. “Sorry, jimmy gaun furra baw”. Jimmy picks himself up and shouts to DP “Heh Davy, daes a favour?”, “Aye Jimmy, whit’s that?”
Jimmy shouts back, “In future go for me.”
I met Jimmy briefly in St. Pat’s Dublin bar after one of his few appearances for them. I was amazed at his physique. He’d shoulders like a welterweight boxer. God be good to him.
Winning Captains
Thanks for the offer – Kilmarnock is not one of the clubs I would even consider giving any of my own money towards
I actually stated to a few CQN’rs on Froday night, I would love to see them go down, DU catch them, or down in a play off
I stopped going to away games, along with SFA sponsored games several years ago, my own personal stance, fund Celtic and Celtic only through home games
Putting my socialist head on tonight ( and looking from a management perspective ) I cannot understand Celtic funding Kilmarnock, and trying to upstage / break a protest of their own fans with regards pricing ? I’ve no doubt Kilmarnock will also be absorbing part of this, so 2 clubs trying to combat a fans protest
All my personal opinion on what is taking place here
Incidentally a better playing Celtic team, would not be struggling to sell tickets, so also tells us something about the club our board has given us
Oh, will check my diary with regards Fri 8th, when at work tomorrow, so will get back to you
Where is it being held ?
Eddie my point is that Ronny is a development coach first and last, IMO Ronny loves the philosophy and ideals of the development coach, again IMO he clearly doesn’t like the pressure and the demands that winning with as a first team manager gets at a big club, he is uncomfortable with that side of the job, now Ferguson thrived on it, Ferguson is a winner first and last then he was a development coach, he never feared being a manager, Ferguson was ruthless when he had to be, a born winner as was Jock Stein
Your statistical analysis of comparing Ferguson’s time at Man Utd with Delia at Celtic is complete bullshit, its meaningless garbage, its is out of context and perspective, both managers managed in a different era, different leagues, different standard of opposition, different state of the clubs which both managers had when they took over e g Man Utd hadn’t won the league title for 23 years, Delia took over a title winning side, the statistics arent anywhere near the whole story, below tells you how big a job it was for Ferguson
=
The article you posted earlier had a few quotes from Ronny that in a way were aimed at those in Scottish football that are stuck in the dark ages, it’s all about winning. We have fans on here and elsewhere calling for 10iar when we haven’t even won 5 yet. Here’s what he actually said
“I think the pressure for results here is unbelievable. As a manager, you just get judged by results, so it’s hard to give a youngster a chance because, if you do, it increases your chances of losing.
“To think more long term is important — and that has to start with the board at every club. That’s a huge thing.”
“But, if you know you need to have certain results, you play the safe team. You play the game to win rather than thinking: ‘I will take some chances because we have to learn and, in the end, we will get feedback.’
“If you play against a youth team in Spain or Holland, they play the same way no matter who their opponents are.
“They would rather lose 10-0 than go away from their principles at a young age. They want to develop, but here everything is about winning and it is killing creativity and development…………….”
Fear? Sorry I don’t see it in those comments though your comments re Fergie at Man U and Ronny taking over a title winning team are pertinent in that he had an easier time of it than Ronny is having here imo.
I posted the stats of Fergies 1st 3 seasons deliberately to highlight how stupid some of the critics of Ronny are. A manager or coach rarely, if ever, get the support that Fergie had in his 1st few seasons, that was the point of using his stats for 1st 3 seasons, it could and was argued at the time that the team wasn’t progressing though the board stuck to it’s guns and backed their appointment. I wasn’t comparing the 2 situations maybe I should have explained that a bit better. I also couldn’t think of a similar situation in more recent times where a coach has been backed and came good after a difficult start.
It’s refreshing that Ronny sees that he has to implement his long term plan while also addressing the expectations of a fan base that can be unforgiving. His comments highlight the added difficulty he faces on many fronts, a hostile press being just one of the many negatives he faces on a daily basis yet he deals with it without complaint. His comments, for me, reflect that he is dealing with the pressure and also he is looking to the long term which wont please those that believe he will be off in the close season.
Reading what he had to say I was reminded of a story I read where Craig Brown was reminiscing about his time as a Scotland youth coach where he admitted they picked each team to win each particular game, it was never about development of players or developing a style of play. That was about 20 years ago I think but still we haven’t moved on from that archaic mind set. That is what Ronny was highlighting but the message just goes way over some peoples heads it would appear.
Ronny’s comments should be a wake up call to fans and more importantly the starting point of a discussion on what it is that we want to achieve long term.
Ronny doesn’t strike me as someone who is scared of making difficult decisions or doesn’t enjoy winning. In fact he comes across as someone who is very motivated and believes in his own abilities.
Probably the one comment every fan should think about is “……everything is about winning and it is killing creativity and development.”
Evening all.
If I took everything on board I read on here tonight, I would never attend CP again in my lifetime.
I will renew my ST and will attend the home games I pay for, and the neganons2 and company can feck off out of my blog for the sake of Celtic. I do despair for these people who think they are more clever than our present incumbents. HH. Cot now. Zzzzzzzzz.

not a celtic blog anymore.
I don’t see it as Celtic funding Kilmarnock. I reckon that the £6 reduction is not going to be a huge factor in making up Supporters minds whether to go or not.
Those who planned to go anyway will go, Kilmarnock will get much the same money, the Individual Celtic Supporters will save £6 per man.
I don’t give a toss about Kilmarnock but I care about our team and winning the League, I really feel the support need to get behind the team, it could make all the difference. God Bless those Home & Awayers, they are special.
excath @ 9.18
A malaise that continues unabated.
The Celtic support aren’t influenced by token gestures, neither home or away.
Ticket prices for Motherwell etc, are unchanged but watch this space.
Getting behind the team, to help us over another winning line.
Hail Hail
This £6 charge gap cover is a great idea! I betcha they do it next season at Ibrox.
Cowiebhoy
Yes I thought you would say that and I understand your position.
My view is we need to win the league. If they get promoted and Aberdeen are champions there will be zero pressure on them. With 5 in the bag the pressure will mount on them quickly.
Our response to our near death experience was to build a 60,000 stadium – many thought Fergus to be crazy. It not only worked, it doomed them to financially second best and they had to resort to stealing/ cheating/ fraud to keep up.
We are seeing their response to what they think is a near death experience – and has been pointed out they have 40,000 paying £20 – a price we need to get to.
But after the defiance comes the come down. I remember the Thursday after 4-2 Monday when Rangers ( with one cup in the cabinet and another to follow when they beat Hibs in a replay), played Partick Thistle at Ibrox in front of a couple of thousand bears.
History tells us they do walk away.
Next season’s reality cheque (sic) will see the pressure mount as 6 in a row arrives. Then 7 and our stands will fill as theirs empty. By 10 it will be all over.
So I am shouting for 5 and everything else can wait.
Stirling Rugby Club is venue – Doc knows about it.
Corkcelt
Thanks for the measured response, and I do appreciate that view
Unfortunately for me, I see things slightly different
Can I just add, and not trying to score points
Say a lot about where we ( as in Celtic, our club ) find ourselves that the Board needs to be trying to encourage support for an away game
Hail Hail
