Plane to US travelled light

155

Viljami Sinisalo made it onto Celtic’s flight to Washington for the US tour, but the plane was one player light of the two new signings Brendan Rodgers anticipated a few days ago.  Kasper Schmeichel is out of contract, so no selling club negotiations are required.  It seems incongruous that a deal has been concluded and that Brendan expected Kasper on the flight.  Transfers are never finalised until the electronic ink dries.

Norwich City fielded 23 players on Saturday, none of whom were Adam Idah.  Whatever new manager Johannes Hoff Thorup (35) wants from his preseason, making an assessment of Adam does not appear to be high on the list.  Norwich are back in action this evening, against Brugge.  It’ll be informative if Adam is again excluded from a cast of thousands.

Well done to Celtic loanee Johnny Kenny (21) who scored both Shamrock Rovers goals in a dramatic win over Vikingur Reykjavik last night to secure Rovers group stage football of one kind this season.

  1. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    TOM MCLAUGHLIN @ 9:31 PM

Hearts humbled 1-5 at home to Spurs.

    —–

    Cheers Tom.

    Lol.

Heard their new full back (ex-Arsenal academy) in the news pre-match talking about beating up Spurs tonight.

Just the usual Big Chief All Talk stuff.

Guy should have signed for R2ngers.

If Norwich were about to recieve a large cheque from us for Adam Idah I doubt they would risk an injury by playing him in a friendly , even for 30 minutes . I reckon it may not happen .

  3. bournesouprecipe on

On a promotional glamour tour of the States with one regular centre forward isn’t a good look.

    GLENDALYS

Not a good place to be without a penny they’re having a nightmare on Paisley Rd West, due to failing masonry. 💥

  7. Watched the Hearts game.Did OK first half against a strong Spurs team.Second half when Ange brought on his reserves, they were brilliant.Could have been 8.In saying that Hearts looked very leggy last 30 mins.Shankland scored again as a sub.

  8. Great prep…lets go on tour to the US with only 1 recognised striker. If Bernardo, Idah & Schmeichael (sp) sign…we’ll only be argually standing still….I can’t be the only one getting frustrated with our glacially slow transfer business

    H.H.

  9. Personally I think Idahs time is running out.Rumours tonight of ridiculous £15 million + add one.Even if not true, how long do we wait, how much will we pay?If its £6 million,FFS offer,if they say no,walk.

Too much time wasted.Would I take Miovski?.Yep.No one knows what they want, only media crap.

  10. Turkeybhoy…Miovski….young, settled well in Scotland, good scoring record in a poor Aberdung team….we’d never agree to their, no doubt, outrageous asking price

  11. The Lurkin Tim.

How are we standing still?.I don’t get this nonsense.Idah and Bernardo were only on loan.IF we sign both, spending £10 million is not standing still.2 keepers signed, which was the most important.

BR has explained it.No matter what anyone says, its not easy to get quality in.Saying at the Hearts game,18 year old,Spurs paid £40 million, and a few others not much cheaper.

  12. !!Bada Bing!! on

Watched Hibs game last night, the RB/RWB Lewis Miller looked decent, a good size, good on the ball, wants to go forward, built for a tackle, worth keeping an eye on IMO

  13. Turkeybhoy…if we sign both then the team is no stronger than the one we finished last season with…ergo…we’re standing still

    H.H.

  14. TLT,

What would you class as outrageous.£ 5 million?.I would pay that.I think he is a quality striker. The thing is,what quality striker is going to sit on the bench.A problem.

  15. !!Bada Bing!! on

I actually think we will be pleasantly surprised with the investment this window…..he says hopefully 🤞

  16. !!Bada Bing!! on

I think if we were that far apart on Idah, we would have walked, plenty of speculation that it’s still live,Mikey Johnston will come in handy with a deal for a Championship player….him or O’Shea possibly….

I understand what yer saying…but can you honestly say that we should be satisfied with last seasons team…because it was just good enough…

    TLT

I’d say that a fair few of the bhoys in America won’t be in Parkhead on 1st September, and the transfers in, will go beyond the widely quotable ‘standing still’

Well done for getting “glacially” slow in, good word and man…… that is slow.

    HH

  19. Bada…I think the investment this window will be dependent on who Brendan can get shot of from last summers fiasco…

  22. Not too worried yet about our signings or lack of them.

I must say though that we are in the USA playing to acknowledge and entertain our fans in North America.

We should be showcasing our team and lauding our fans with exibition and entertaining football.

Playing two upfront should be a pre-requisite. Only one problem in that.

    HH, the journey resumes.

  23. celtic plc are not going on pre-season to entertain the fans, that notion is kind of quaint.

they are going to get fir and if it makes money while letting fans see the green and white then fine.

expectong to play this way or that with new players or not, i suspect they will lose all 3 games, but am left with s f what.

ifor brendan it is in context of getting the team fot.

for the plc it is about the dollars.

you can dress it up anyway you want and make the childish remearks, but this is what is reality.

embarrased by it, i couldnt give a monkeys.

  24. Morning CQN, I hope you don’t mind me posting another link.

Can someone explain to me why the BBC is broadcasting the RNC conference without fact-checking

Because the BBC is broadcasting to an audience that cannot vote in the presidential election and the candidates/parties are not campaigning to UK viewers.

    So no need for fact-checking.
