Play Luke, James, Colby, Reo, Viljami and Dane

73

Irrespective of the VAR intervention which cost Celtic the points on Sunday, I thought the team was leggy against a brighter-looking Hibs in the opening stages of the contest.  I put that down to the fact that Celtic had played  67 hours earlier, whereas Hibs had a full 8 days to prepare.

Chastened with this experience, we prepare to face Stuttgart in a tie that is already decided against us.  64 hours later (unless there is extra time, erm….) we kick-off at Ibrox.

Play Luke McCowan, James Forrest, Colby Donovan and Reo (who are unlikely to start on Sunday).  Let’s see how Viljami Sinisalo holds up to what will inevitably be a harsh experience.  Let Auston Trusty show Dane Murray how it’s done.  I don’t really care if we endure another 7-1 loss, as we did in Germany last season.  It is more important what happens in Glasgow on Sunday.  Tonight will be a sore experience, whoever Martin plays, but it will be a distant memory if we win three days later.

  1. MON made a great point re Trusty red card, he said the referee is looking straight at it,he wasn’t unsighted and said on coms ,he was giving both of them a warning, should have been end of story

  2. If CalMac starts, I’ll combust.

This is where we are though, playing dead rubber europa second legs. Quite a state.

  3. We lost the loving feeling when Celtic switched the lights off inside Parkhead when YNWA comes over the tannoy.

Putting the best optical selling point of the club into darkness, switches off the loving feeling, and just before kick off as well too.

When Lawwell left the club, his stupid assed disco lights should have left with him.

Lawwell bought the disco lights for £4.5 million, after failing to [ut £2.5 million on the table for John McGinn of Hibs.

So in effect, apart from the disco lights switching off Celtic’s soul before kick off, they might also have cost the club a £50 million sale of John McGinn of Celtic further down the line?!

Half assed management is no management at all.

But 60,000 season ticket holders just keep slurping the PLC slop.

    Imho.

Indeed it should have been the end of it.

  5. we need to do the rope-a-dope then the muggings with long out balls up to big Tom.

Zero running about = Zero hamstring pulls.

Make the ball do the work!

    Imho.

  6. Couldnt disagree more Paul.

The team is not leggy, its mentally fragile. The confidence has drained and “safe passes” are the order of the day.

Another hammering will only exacerbate the problem.

A credible performance and even a narrow defeat will do much more for us than a “rest ” for certain players.

  7. I don’t think lying doon for a Baden-Württemberg beating is much on Martin’s mind.

Oh, how we laughed at the huns having the joint worst record in Champs League history.

So playing our stiffs against a top Zherman side could go very bad for us.

    I guess I worry about a record-defeat margin bad.

An’ smashing what little confidence we have left as an entire squad.

And giving them and the meeja heaps of laughing gas for a few days ahead of the key Ipox clash.

Play a strong side, get some credit from a stoic showing, and see what that could do for Sunday’s confidence levels IMO (in Martin’s opinion, that is). Start line-up…

  8. Stuggart are in their own race with RB for the CL spot. They’ve already dropped 5 points in recent weeks to bottom of the league sides.

They’ll be resting players tonight as well.

Amazing the turnaround. When we lost games under Brendan Rodgers it always seemed to be the manager’s fault…..

  10. Our downsizing seems to be gathering pace

Should be pretty much complete come end June when loans, out of contracts, want a ways and the infirm all leave.

    Who will recruit the recruiters?

(I’m sure there’s a Latin phrase for that!)

  11. Absolutely right. No point in trying to compete in Europe; Dermot’s boy said so. They also employed a guy who was happy to say we weren’t in the top 100 clubs in Europe.

If you don’t have any ambition you won’t get disappointed.

To me, that could offer some hope of us sending out a strong side in hope of some kind of win.

We can’t go into a tie feart and only hoping to minimise a lashing.

My comment about ‘Log in pash’ is because I keep getting logged out and have to log back in. Apart from that I don’t have the problems others seem to have. I use Duck Duck Go as my browser, I run Adblock and have Java turned off so I don’t suffer the ads/pop-ups that others seem to do.

  15. MON’s teams always had something to prove to themselves, fans, and of course Mr MON himself.

Some of that psychology wouldn’t go wrong tonight.

    I sound like a broken record but…

The get out of jail card for VAR is that the ref said ‘Its nothing’ where as the VAR saw something. From a VAR review show I watched I think the protocol is that the ref should explain WHAT he saw (as opposed to generic nothing in it). Had he said I saw Trustys arm hit the fouling Hibs players arm then VAR would have potentially overstepped.

The failure to follow process gave them an out I think?

Is there any assisted dying for the isrealis in Genocide land?

If not, then why are so many Western isreali fanatics of Genocide land, gushing with enthusiasm for millions of innocent people of the West to become Genocided in Western countries?

Then the Lobby controlled Western countries will call this Genocide of millions of innocent Western people, “Assited Dying” trick, trap, sleekit vermin antics of the sleekit Lobby characters?

SNP Celtic haters who sleekitly send all of your taxes to Genocide land out the back door, will be doing cartwheels if this scam is passed into law.

And the only Scottish people who won’t see this for what it is, is the dim Tims who’ve been living on their knees eating out of the poisoned SNP hands for SEVENTEEN YEARS!!!!.

100 pct agree, though not sure Robertson had to be bullied, think he was delighted and happy to be persuaded.

Doesn’t change my point. We have a legit complaint that process (if it should be as I recall it from WCs VAR review show) was not followed but we can’t limit it to the VAR. Whether that should have been enough to help an appeal I dont know (think cases thrown out for a technicality).

I think refs are often reluctant to detail what they saw as they are wrong more often than they’d care to admit.

  21. Is the VAR audio clip available yet? As i posted yesterday MONs description of the excited wee man suggests that they cant hide their delight like Red Card Ross…

  22. My friends in Celtic,

Surely it’s illogical giving everything to win a season long prize and then treating said prize with contempt.( Not to mention belittling our travelling fans )

To disrespect this game is not pragmatic, it demonstrates a lack of honour and respect.

“Surely it’s illogical giving everything to win a season long prize and then treating said prize with contempt.”

Or it could show that we value the prize (league title and entry to Europe) very highly to want to maximise the chance of winning the prize again.

“To disrespect this game is not pragmatic”

I think its very pragmatic (if slightly pessimistic) in that practical considerations such as player fatigue due to lots of games and lots of injuries and priorities are informing the decision.

Cant see MON not going full pelt though in all competitions.
