Play our natural game

190

Three games and two defeats in and our Champions League group is already a daunting task. More so with the absence of Kieran Tierney, Kolo Toure and Jozo Simunovic, the latter of which casts a long shadow.

My hopes for tonight are limited to putting on a good performance. A result, even a draw, would be of historic proportions, but these are the games we should be facing down with increasing confidence.

Gladbach deserved their win at Celtic Park two weeks ago, but our wounds were self-inflicted on that occasion. If we’d been tighter at the back the game was within our grasp.

On these occasions I’m usually keen for Celtic to play things tight, but with chances of progression so distant, we are as well playing our natural game. Go for it, Celtic.

Hawksbee and Jacobs discussing the ‘a German team’ story with a Gladbach director.. The guy said he hopes it will build a friendship with Celtic as the BMG fans loved their Glasgow visit. Seems it was a good party in Dusseldorf yesterday and I’m just about to check the German team’s website which is showing Celtic fans in the city centre singing and dancing with their mascot horse.

    More good PR outside Scotland.

The director guy was asked if the BMG fans sung the old English favourite, ‘give us a B’.

Even though I have just been ordained designated driver I am really looking forward to tonight. Meeting up with a few well kent and skelped faces and seeing the hoops. Lots still to play for especially those that night want to force their way back into Brendan Rodgers plans. Historically we rarely do well in Germany but it can never be as torturous as the Bremen Celtic game in 89 ??

It is always a pure pleasure in seeing how the German locals enjoy the Celtic travelling band. I love being a part of that and not letting on that I live here. Regaling them with tales that most Celtic supporters can speak 3 or 4 languages fluently but they have to accept that the hard academic upbringing turned most of us to alcohol….and being gullible Germans they tend to believe it

    An Tearmann/ Philbhoy,

The mood music on and off the field between us and BMG is pitch perfect.

Another European club to add to our list of admirers.

Does this Celtic Foundation that they mention have anything to do with the club and it’s exploiting, right wing, money grabbing fascists?

    Whatever would Walfrid say?

  16. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

I get the impression we are more popular in mainland Europe than we are in Scotland (why could that be)

In the few euro trips I have had, the only hassle I’ve had was in Nottingham and our first game in Vienna.

German fans in particular seem to like us. I have saw Sankt Pauli, Dortmund, Stuttgart and Bayern Munich fans at our games over the last six years.

One of my pals kept in touch with Stuttgart fan after our visit their in2003. The Stuttgart fan put him in touch with a Gladbach fan who sorted out two home tickets for tonight’s game.

Tonight will be tough but being realistic, plus going by our European away record in the last 43 years, I don’t expect anything.

A good performance showing more progress is being made will be welcome.

If we qualify for next season’s champions league, then any lessons learnt this season should be put into practice along with our board fully backing our manager in the transfer market.

Man City adapts to changing viewing habits with Amazon Fire TV club app

    Consider the article produced below.

Man City do not have a traditionally worldwide following and in truth any international pull is greatly enhanced by (a) their exposure in the EPL (b) the exposure in the Champion’s League (c) the reputation of their manager and playing staff and finally (d) the nationality of their owners.

Traditionally Celtic have a far greater world wide appeal and I believe that the family of global Celtic fans will far outnumber those who are faithful City fans.

So, in that light consider how interesting this tie up is.

Amazon are looking to sell their firestick TV offering and all that it brings to City Fans recognising that they are a recogniseable target group. It allows them to “sell” to that group. In return, City get exposure via the Amazon Firestick App and in turn can sell their own broadcasting (including advertising) via Amazon.

Years ago a Sky executive told me that after Man Utd Celtic were the single biggest sports Audience in Britain — way ahead of Arsenal, Chelsea and what have you.

Celtic should be looking at a similar deal because it would allow them to sell media outwith the collective SPL deal, to a worldwide audience through the biggest retailer and facilitator on the planet.

Of recent the club have embarked on a number of commercial initiatives which can only be good.

They should also consider this as internet broadcasting and the use of Apps is about to mushroom.

  18. I think that TD has an enigma code.

When he says the following phrases he is really swearing at people:

    – You don’t know me

    – Just my opinion

    – uni / student mob

    – Brown shirts

    – It’s a blog

Of course the genius of the enigma is that the swearies to phrase relationship changes every day.
