Players are not machines

Celtic will attempt to win their 29th successive game in domestic cup competitions at home to Partick Thistle tonight, whom they have beaten twice already during that run.  The only teams we have faced more often are: Aberdeen (4, including three cup finals), Motherwell (3, 2 cup finals) and Newco (3, all semi-finals).

This is as big a home banker that will exist in sport this week but you and I know our history.  Thistle are bottom of the Championship right now and the last time we faced the bottom club in that division in the League Cup at Celtic Park, we lost, to Morton, who finished the season in the same position.

Apart from the win (of course), I really want to see Callum McGregor sitting in the stand alongside us tonight.  He has achieved his Martyr of the Playing Minutes award, now we need to give him a chance to pace himself before facing the likes of Cluj next week.  The same argument could be made for James Forrest.  Players are not machines.

A bright start and no mistakes, Celtic.
