Players have justifiable confidence in each other

185

Celtic players appear to have a justifiable confidence in each other.  They have beaten their four nearest league challengers, scoring an incredible 15 goals in the process, qualified for the Champions League group stage and knocked Manchester City out of their stride in a manner which seemed improbable, considering their first competitive game of the season in Gibraltar.

Justifiable confidence extends to the support as well.  Celtic players and opponents alike know the levels of support and encouragement the home team can expect from Celtic Park.  “You’ll need to take on all of us”, appears to be the mantra.  And that really is improbable.

Don’t be fooled by talk of Borussia Monchengladbach being weaker than last season.  Last night I watched Bayer Leverkusen, who sit below Gladbach in the Bundesliga, give Tottenham a long and taxing evening.  They will be fit, skilful and accomplished across the field.

This will be a huge test, but it’s not the first we’ve faced in Europe.  You know the job required, let’s get on with it.
marys-meals-tweet
Take a look at the above Tweets from Mary’s Meals this morning.  You did that.  You put food on the table of some of the poorest, most malnourished, children on the planet.  Well done on another astonishing achievement.

Resting on laurels is for others.  Being a Celtic supporter doesn’t finish here.

Celtic sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing, have given us two North Stand (Celtic supporters area) tickets for the Cup semi-final to raffle.  To win the pair, email the address below with the correct spelling of Monchengladbach (clue, this is not a trick question).

All entries will be considered, even if you are close, but not totally accurate.  This is more about having a chance to talk to you about about what comes next.  We’re getting to that time of year when the poorest in our own community are most in need of assistance, many of whom are now aided by the Celtic Foundation.  The work the Foundation does with Scotland’s poorest in winter is literally a lifesaver.

The last ticket competition winner made a donation to the Foundation. It was a coincidence. Honest…….  If you would like to make a donation to the Foundation, you can do so here.  As you head off to Celtic Park, or settle down in front of the TV tonight, you’ll feel better knowing that you played your part in the biggest picture that’s carried Celtic all these years.  Be part of the story.

Entries to competition@celticquicknews.co.uk . There were few entries yesterday, so chances of success are relatively high.  Competition closes at 14:00 tomorrow, winner will be informed that day. Make sure I have contact details for you.

Good luck, and enormous thanks to Intelligent Car Leasing.

  6. So it’s another one of those great European nights with the Germans in the bacon slicer that will be Celtic Park to-night. Forget about their missing players we can expect the usual slick passing game from these guys although probably not on the same level as our previous opponents.

If we can get our defensive game right I reckon our attacking players have the pace and guile to hurt any side. Hard to believe that with all our striking woes of the past Celtic can now afford to have Leigh Griffiths, a forty goal season man on the bench. It was universally accepted that our game against Man City was probably the outstanding games of the season and hopefully the support and the team can reach that level to-night.

  7. Heading out to begin the night.

I like games were there’s a genuine chance of all 3 possible outcomes without any being a shock. That’s real fitba.Just hoping it’s a win for our bhoys at the end.

    Anywho,pub then bus calling.Paradise here I come.

Enjoy fholks,it’s an even more marvellous time to be a tim than normal.

Will miss the game tonight as I’ ll be driving from Dingwall to Glasgow – hoping to arrive about 21:30.

Armed with the advice from the bhoys here I’ll be checking in for Berlin tomorrow morning in Gla airport.Just realised there might be a few B.M. supporters about.

Here’s hoping they’ll be of the long-faced variety!

  9. Keep hearing that the game is on BT sport HD. I have BT sport but not HD does that mean I will not see the game?

  10. While a draw tonight wouldn’ be the wurst result, a win would certainly give us the upper Hans over BMG. We have nothing to vier.

As long as we aren’t left with a bitte taste in our mouths then I’ll be happy.

  12. Zagreb v Sevilla game, no atmosphere, half empty stadium where the fans are a mile from the pitch and not much to say about the play on the pitch either.

Love that we are getting games with the biggest teams around but boy would we have been in with a hell of a chance of progressing from a couple of the other groups.

  13. Whitedoghunch………….. BT sport advertising BT Espn HD all week, had me worried. Thanks for the info.

  18. No surprise if Forrest is playing. Still think Roberts offers a lot more, but he hasn’t shown his early season / pre injury form, whilst Forrest has been playing really well. Team will be pretty much as expected. Only real question is Jozo or Erik.

  19. Not going to make it to Forresters Arms in Bristol tonight due to work. Be watching on I pad. So have a great night everyone and c’mon the Hoops.

Tonights game is huge for Celtic in European terms if we win we give ourselves a great chance of European football after Christmas,Unfortunately I wont see the game as I have a prior engagement but I wish the Bhoys all the very best and hope the fans witness a great Celtic win.H.H.

  22. Hearing from a young family I know in my local that the Fanzone was extremely popular today, teething issues but the youngsters and ole Hipsters enjoyed themselves. Brilliant.

Hope Celtic and more importantly Glasgow City Council take note and allow us to do this around stadium.

In other news I hear a Cafe is again under consideration…Almore!
