Point of order, seven players have not left Rangers

555

Point of order. Steven Davis has not decided to leave Rangers. Kyle Lafferty did not leave Rangers. Jamie Ness, Steven Whittaker, Steven Naismith, Shauny Aluko and Rhys McCabe did not leave Rangers in some insurrection of Stevens-and-friends-with-odd-names.

All have chosen to remain employees of Rangers Football Club PLC and (reportedly) objected to transfer to Sevco 5088. Loyal to the end, heroes to the jersey, despite how this is being reported elsewhere. The administrators currently managing Rangers Football Club PLC may soon issue all of the above with redundancy notices, but until then, the players will sit tight.

Sevco don’t need these guys anyway, they’ve 19 targets, several of whom have been busy at the Euros, ready to sign-on.

And how could I forget about Gattuso? We’re in trouble when that lot arrive, guys!

Saints have today revealed that Belgian champions R.S.C Anderlecht will replace Glasgow Rangers in this year’s Markus Liebherr Memorial Cup, due to the well-publicised circumstances surrounding the Scottish side.

The decision has not been made lightly and has been reached with the integrity of the competition in mind, ensuring that the annual event will remain an extremely competitive experience with both Arsenal and Anderlecht bringing along a first team squad.

St Mary’s is set to be an extremely popular destination this summer in the build up to the Club’s first season back in the Premier League, and the opposition confirmed to take on Nigel Adkins’ men in pre-season friendlies during July and August will certainly whet the appetite.

Fresh from hosting Arsenal and Anderlecht in the Markus Liebherr Memorial Cup on 14th July, Saints will welcome three teams in Ajax, Wolves and Udinese that are sure to further test their credentials as a top-flight side.

The Club is pleased to announce that supporters will be able to take advantage of a special ‘Champions League Bundle’, which will include a ticket to the Markus Liebherr Memorial Cup along with the visits of Ajax and Udinese at the following discounted price:

  3. I hope Scottish football really can reinvent itself after these four months of farce.

I’m not saying we can be as good, but we have to look at how Germany, Spain, Italy, France and lots of teams at lower levels play the game and adapt. There is no point aspiring to being a sub-prime England. It’s like a different game.

Supporters have to stop demanding blood and snotters from players. Coaches need to stop the bench-pressing and hoofing the ball as high in the air as possible. Referees need to stop allowing violent and dangerous tackles. The game has to be less physical and more beautiful. England looked ridiculous, even against Ukraine. You find yourself saying, “fancy playing like that”, but Scotland does and Ireland does. Passages of play with three passes if your lucky, while our commentators watch modern teams complete 12, 15 or 20 and say, “all very pretty but it’s not getting them anywhere”. Aye it is. They are keeping the ball as the best way to defend, the best way to create a chance, the best way to sap the opposition’s energy and tear up its game plan.

I don’t have the answers, but I have a couple of ideas. I hate throw-ins. I hate it when the players can’t keep the ball within the confines of the pitch. So, very simple. Like in rugby, players who hoof the ball straight out of play, like in rugby, should suffer from the opposition having possession where the player kicked it from, in other words, the throw is way back up the pitch. That’ll teach them.

If it happens, I don’t know, five times in a match, it’s no longer a throw-in, but a direct free kick where the player was when he kicked it out. And if it’s the goalie, the direct-free-kick is from anywhere in the D.

  4. Celticeoin, I think we’ve been actively looking for another league for a decade but looking and finding are two different things, alas.

After news broke that rangers (IL) will no longer be taking part in the Markus Liebherr Memorial Cup, Thomas Cook in Southampton were due to closed down after a flood of holiday cancellations around the dates of the tourney. However Southampton police force re-instated leave for all officers and have given them a £1000 each to book last minute holiday in the sun. This has saved the local travel agent from closure A spokesman said, “With the money we’ve saved in the overtime budget and the cancellation of an order for a 100 Tazars, we thought it was the least we could do.” The spokesperson refused to confirm that they are still planning on providing counseling for officers, despite the fact that rangers(IL) will no longer be taking part in the tournament.

I must say before I go though, that this isn’t JUST about gross mismanagment or the downfall of Rangers FC, we are witnessing something much more.

The sports media have taken an absolute hiding as they have been found out time and again, a major credability blow which is hugely damaging in that field.

They have been proven to be so lazy that they are simply prepared peddle snips given to them by pr agents and media house.??? come on…

Not only has our greatest footballing foe eventually drowned in its own arrogance and greed, but the sports media in this country has been rendered useless and will now also fade away.Cuts must be inevitable somewhere along the line with them, and without rangers or even a mutant form of it, theyre target audience will drop in theyre droves.

Podcast is unbelievable… oh wait a minute – it’s not. Inevitable bunch of huns with keyboards, they are just hurting bullies and neds. The daily record/sunday mail, the campaigning arm of Rangers FC (1872-2012), ended up accelerating their beloved club’s demise with their slavish support of David Murray. They are still campagning, spreading deceit, presenting fait accomplis in the vain hope that by saying that something is so, it will be accepted as true. But they now realise that their power has ebbed, so they are livid. They realise that power has moved to the supporters, and to the internet bampots like oor Paul, and their only response is snide abuse.

I enjoyed the photograph which accompanied your posting of H.M.’s Loyal defenders with their ‘Butchers Apron’.

I suppose it was inevitable ( & very fitting ) that they managed to display their flag UPSIDE DOWN, which all of us loyal subjects know was used by her majesty’s forces as a DISTRESS signal.

That is surely one of the most honest statements these ‘peepul’ have ever made.

  23. Hamiltontim. Aye, I hate them.

If it cannons off a guy and goes out, that’s different, but we all know when a goalie can pick up a ball that hit a defender and when he can’t and it didn’t take us long to tell the difference.

When was the last time you saw a goalie penalised for picking up a pass-back?

Change is required. Teams that can’t control the ball and just hoof it need to be punished. Clubs that become persistent offenders can go into special measures.

Sevco’s first training session is shaping up to be the most farcical of scenes in this comedy to date. Fat Sally instructing Lee Wallace and Lee McCulloch (two Lees, that could be confusing) to take penalties at each other.

What a laugh to think of his sly little smirk just after he coined his “we don’t do walking away” line. He thought that by uttering these iconic words he was being clever.

Except that he isn’t bright enough to think to himself, “wait a minute, maybe I shouldn’t say that to the press. What if the situation here becomes so desperate that it is actually in my interest and the club’s interest to get out? What if a new owner uses me as a pawn to appease the angry bears (again) while he raids the assets and I’m unable to warn the supporters? What if by staying I simply become a figure of fun to everyone else?”

Oh dear, Ally. When you’re humiliated on Thursday we might even feel a little sorry for you. Until we think of time you whispered in Lenny’s ear or the time you instructed Rangers fans to intimidate the SFA’s independent anonymous panel. Then we will piss ourselves laughing. We can’t say we’re not enjoying this, Ally ;-)

I wandered into ASDA last week to see if there was any rum on offer. My eyes first lit on a bottle of Bacardi at £12 so I picked it up. But on doing so I spotted a bottle of Bacardi Oakheart, a new and nice spice rum, at the same price. So back goes the Bacardi White.

Looking along the shelves I spot a bottle of Mount Gay, also at £12 so back goes the Oakheart, but THEN I spot a bottle of Cockspur 5 Star, Barbados’s rival to Mount Gay also at £12 and my first love in Bajan rum.

I was like a wean in a sweetie shop. Mount Gay is a fine rum but for me Cockspur tops it at that vintage.

I do too. This is an oppotunity. I think that there have been some decent signs particularly last season: as well as ourselves, Dundee Utd, Kilmarnock, Hibs, Dundee, St Mirren, St johnstone and one or two others all tried to play football, at least at times, last season, rather than boot it up the park . Our matches need to be refereed in the light of the rules as they are not as they were 30 years ago – that would help our clubs in Europe – and Scotland (and Ireland). If that happened consistently coaches would soon change their tune. As we are going to win the league anyway the refs have nothing to lose so they should get on with it.
