After Celtic fans gathered around Trongate to celebrate the league win on Saturday, first minister Humza Yousaf, took to the media to say, “Clubs can do more, should do more – organise those celebrations, be involved in those celebrations.
“Perhaps they can reflect on what they can do for future years.”
What he is referring to is a fanzone. An area with facilities, security, opening and closing times and a scheduled tidy-up process. They exist all over the world, cities across Europe have wallowed in celebration at some local success. In Glasgow, we are caught between an SNP council, which does not want to give an inch to Celtic, and an SNP first minister, who is happy to be critical of Celtic and Celtic fans, in an attempt to placate the other side of the city, even though he took no time to discover why there was no club organised event.
None of this is anti-Celtic, it is not personal, it is not prejudiced, it is just the result of inept politics and inept politicians. The city and the country would do better if the Celtic fans on Trongate were in charge of both.
Just remembered Frankfurt celebrating last May! That’s a city council that knows what it’s doing.

My take of it would be as follows;
I cannot see Levy offering Ange the job unless he has already been told the answer will be Yes (Ange’s agent doing his job). After being “snubbed” by the previous target, the last thing the Spurs PR machine will want is an SPL manager also saying no to them. It would be humiliating in the extreme.
If DD was in Glasgow last week to give Ange a bumper new deal, and the plan is to announce that after the final, that info would already have been leaked to Levy by Ange or his agent to remove his name from the narrative. Levy’s favoured media pals would then be making it clear that Ange is not being pursued instead of suggesting he is top of the list.
Just read about your dad Big Jimmy. Fell both happy and sad for you at the same time. Hope that makes sense!
Hail Hail
He is on a1year Rolling Contract, someone posted here that, that means either side need to give 1 years notice of ending contract , if that is so, we should be entitled to Compensation from Spurs.
Would obviously prefer Ange to stay but if he does go an extra few Million in the coffers would be handy.
Deniabhoy,
Ange’s salary is currently about £2.2m a year.
Spurs paid their last manager a minimum of £15m for turning up, and a series of performance targets of another £5m.
DD ain’t bridging that. We can’t compete financially with the biggest league in the world.
HH
Wait till the pesky authorities and the polis find out there is a pre cup final gathering planned for Glasgow green followed by a massive corteo to Hampden.
Big Wavy
Is that £2.2m official, from accounts etc? Seems high, maybe that is the whole coaching team in a cost line?
I knew a baker who was on a rolling contract
Mind you, he kneaded the dough
Coneybhoy😂
Aw ffs he’s started again.
Coneybhoy has just won the worst joke of the day award 👏👏👏👏👏👏
£2.2m is only 40k per week – I’m sure he’s at least on that
Surely worst joke of the year?
Although I did smirk just a little.
Gene,
£42k a week is the figure…..
£289k for Spurs……….
Gulp.
HH
There isn’t a chance of Ange staying when he looks across the city and sees the quality of Cantwell – he knows we don’t stand a chance.
BIG JIMMY
Glad your meeting with yer Da went well!
Ange is 40 days older than me. I know where my mind is at the moment and it would not surprise me in the slightest if he takes the Spurs job. He has spent a lifetime in various levels of football and who among us would do anything different? Whatever happens the contract would set him up for life and he would never be left wondering. Or he could hang around here in the cheats paradise. Other than success in Europe he has done everything possible already and how likely is European success? If it’s offered I think he’ll take it.

I have it on good authority that one is not the worst from that bhoy 🤣🤣😂

Yer not kidding. BelmontBrian will be on soon. What a hellish double act. 😳
Prestonpansbhoy
I told a joke in the office kitchen at lunch and there was literally silence
‘If vampires can’t see their reflection in mirrors, how come Dracula never cuts himself shaving and has perfect hair.’
See what i mean? 😎
Why were the baker,s fingers brown?
Because he kneaded a jobby.
Aw naw er anurra wan 😳
baker’s
Dearie me, if I wasn’t driving later, that would force me to open a can 🍺
Corkcelt
A year of Ange’s rolling contract won’t amount to much sadly. Despite being encouraged to sign a better one he never would and thus the money we will get won’t really be close to the value of the guy.

😂😂😂😂 belter
Rodgers did us a big favour signing a long term contract. He was on 2.3m a year i think so that’s why i’m surprised Ange is on that much due to his lack of big league experience
Is there no end to this folly?
Celtic have had no contact from Tottenham Hotspur and they need permission from Celtic before they can speak to him.
Ange being favourite is nothing more than bookie talk. It could be that he is on a short list but if he is, he is not their first option.
Muscat odds for Celtic might be interesting, especially if we see him loitering around the showers at hampden on Saturday evening.
Coneybhoy
Ange is not on that much. That’s my point.
From February. I’m confident Ange is a man of his word.
“there have been some concerns amongst the Celtic support, no doubt still damaged by Brendan Rodgers midnight flit to the East Midlands, and some wishful thinking by those in the press who would perhaps prefer to see the Celtic manager seek alternative employment, that Ange Postecoglou may follow a similar road to more lucrative options down south or other more competitive leagues in Europe.
Yet as reported in Herald Scotland today Ange Postecoglou has stated he “couldn’t be happier” at Celtic and has advised some may be surprised (and perhaps others equally disappointed) as to how long he will stay in the Celtic hotseat.
“When people say ‘he’s going to go down the road or somewhere else with the first offer he gets’, it’s not how I’m wired, it’s not how I think,” the Celtic manager said.” (via The Celtic Star)
Ange has spoken about building something with Celtic and it’s clear he gets us as a club and as a support. I would be really surprised if he were to abandon us for Spurs. He’s not in the same mould as the rat.
Who would win in a fight between St Brendan and the Rat?

No news yet on Kyogo or the Canadian Bruiser. That’s a positive.

I wasn’t referring to the old short-lived Populist Party but to the modern version of Populist vs Progressive Policies. SNP won plaudits for universal credits like the Baby Boxes and subsidised tuition fees which actively benefit richer students. They have only occasionally adopted an economically progressive policy, like their recent income tax pottering, but they don’t like to talk these up as a) it is minimalist tinkering and b) in their defence, they don’t have full economic control so they can’t go too far. Their other populist policies were the OBaF Act but sometimes they suffered a setback when they misread the populist mood for fair treatment of the transgender populations without taking into account the concerns of women for their gender identity. Speaking out about Celtic fan behaviour is also Populist and popular, amongst all but our community and they think they have us on board regardless.
As for The US 3rd force parties, including the Populist Party, they are invariably proponents of “The South will rise again/ Lost Cause” outlook, with the exception of Eugene Debs and Ralph Nader. Third party movements usually fail and die quickly so, in modern times they have become entryists into the Republican Party instead.
One of the co-founders, Thomas Watson, had presented himself as a spokesman for white and black farmers alike, but after a few years he reverted to being the outspoken white supremacist he always was. Another prominent figure, oul William Jennings Bryan, a fascinating figure was the prosecutor in the Scopes Monkey Trial, as he too was a fundamentalist Literal Bible Presbyterian champion.
I know it was a different era but they were not really a Socialist or Worker’s movement, they were a continuation of the Nativist & Know Nothing movements combined with a righteous dose of resentments at the excesses of Capitalists in the Gilded Age
