After Celtic fans gathered around Trongate to celebrate the league win on Saturday, first minister Humza Yousaf, took to the media to say, “Clubs can do more, should do more – organise those celebrations, be involved in those celebrations.
“Perhaps they can reflect on what they can do for future years.”
What he is referring to is a fanzone. An area with facilities, security, opening and closing times and a scheduled tidy-up process. They exist all over the world, cities across Europe have wallowed in celebration at some local success. In Glasgow, we are caught between an SNP council, which does not want to give an inch to Celtic, and an SNP first minister, who is happy to be critical of Celtic and Celtic fans, in an attempt to placate the other side of the city, even though he took no time to discover why there was no club organised event.
None of this is anti-Celtic, it is not personal, it is not prejudiced, it is just the result of inept politics and inept politicians. The city and the country would do better if the Celtic fans on Trongate were in charge of both.
Just remembered Frankfurt celebrating last May! That’s a city council that knows what it’s doing.

Let the good times roll. 👍
In a bit of a unique occassion, I would allow the b-team, the youths, the ladies and the mens team all to have their own busses and show off all their trophies.
I would then take one big all together pcture of every one togather.

The modern term populist didn’t come from nowhere – it’s a continuation of the demonisation of the Pops/People’s Party from history (which is itself an authoritarian attack on the idea that the plebs understand/have a right to political power.
‘As for The US 3rd force parties, including the Populist Party, they are invariably proponents of “The South will rise again/ Lost Cause”
This is untrue. What are your sources for this because it goes against everything I have read. Would Martin Luther King have been on the Pop side if this were the case?
‘One of the co-founders, Thomas Watson, had presented himself as a spokesman for white and black farmers alike, but after a few years he reverted to being the outspoken white supremacist he always was. ‘
Watson was a political opportunist who changed his views once the People’s Party was in decline. Him being a scumbag doesn’t really say anything about the Pops.
‘I know it was a different era but they were not really a Socialist or Worker’s movement, they were a continuation of the Nativist & Know Nothing movements…’
Again, this is completely false and incorporates the smears that were later used to discredit the Pops.
Hmm, be honest, did you ChatGPT this answer? Because if I were a betting man I’d wager my house on it that you did…

CORKCELT @ 2:18 PM,
He is on a1year Rolling Contract, someone posted here that, that means either side need to give 1 years notice of ending contract , if that is so, we should be entitled to Compensation from Spurs.
Would obviously prefer Ange to stay but if he does go an extra few Million in the coffers would be handy.
Well that depends on certain aspects of the contract and when Ange handed in his notice.
There could well be an end of season clause in there and we were certainly not paying him what he was worth.
We got nine million for BR, his assistant and backroom staff, trousered the money and got Lenny in.
That money is still in the PLCs bank account
We should have paid Ange what he was worth and put him on a long term contract, many were suggesting just that.
Hail Hail
Looks like we signed the wrong Yuki Kobayashi
Hmm.
Genuine question.
Who on here has succumbed to temptation
.. and placed a bet at odds of 7/4
… that Ange Postecoglou will be the next Spurs manager?
Tonight Matthew I’m going to be………………. a Sevilla fan
Ange is the highest paid manager in the land…
How much towards the comparable £15m (15% of our T/O) a year should we move.
Whether player or manager, it’s a reminder of Scotland’s place in the football food system. Way, way below the temptations of the English game.
Arsenal and Man City or Livingston and Ross County?
Mmmmmm

Sadly the bookies will be right on this one.

Tonight Matthew I’m going to be………………. a Sevilla fan
———-
Long story short – I have two ladies reporting to me, one in Chicago who is (was) a Sevilla supporter because she studied there for 2 years, the other is in Budapest, but is from Rome and a season ticket holder since aged 4.
I converted the Sevilla supporter from Liverpool fan to Celtic supporter, to such an extent she has started attending the Chcago CSC luckily the bar they host is less than a mile from her home, she watched our games versus second rangers and aberdeen on saturday. In the company of severla older celts one even from the port.
She has came off seville now, and is a definate converted tim.
The roma ghirl tells me of her father always liking celtic, they have a left wing faction in her curva and they hace celtic sypathies even some banners, and even clips with celtic fans when playing lazio.
she hates Di Canio, but personally know Annoni.
She is on way to the stadium mow, 350 euros a ticket btw.
Even with Jose there, I do admire how he has made it important that his team wins something, they treated the conference win last season like the european cup
so tonight matthew i am forza roma.
” we have never moved for the money,”
Mrs Postecoglou
“He hasn’t really got to the highest level until late in his career. He wants to maximise his opportunities. To be honest, I agree with him. That’s what all of us have in our careers. Limited time and we want to take opportunities”.
Words of Ange Postecoglu when JJ left.
Interesting insight.

I bet they won’t.

The accusation that you make that no attempt has been made to secure Ange on a better longer term deal over the past 18 months is absolute garbage.
You sound really bitter for some reason.
Tom McLaughlin
As someone who has loved the Ange era as much as any in my many years supporting Celtic I seriously hope I am buying you a beer sometime, re our bet ! 😂
It is not looking too good.
Ange to Spurs, a fool if he does football wise but a fool if he doesn’t money wise.
As it is we don’t even know if they have asked him, I hope he tells them to eff off is they do.
We’ll be interviewing for a new manager in the shower after the cup final.
St Stivs
Can’t stand the special one
Cool story though ☝️
John Kennedy turn
Personally I don’t think Ange will go to Spurs, I think he has unfinished business here and will attempt to finish what he has started, he said on Saturday post game he thinks there is still growth in this team but recognises some players might move on, if he goes after this then I’m not sure what Celtic ,the support or anyone else can do about it, hopefully the plc see it the same way and continue to back Ange in a realisitic way as it has done until now to enable him to continue with the team development.
I don’t think he’ll go yet
Celtic Twitter launch an #askAnge interview in the last 30 minutes ffs….
The responses are hilarious.
“Who is your favourite Ange. Chas or Dave ?”

BURNLEY78 @ 5:33 PM,
The accusation that you make that no attempt has been made to secure Ange on a better longer term deal over the past 18 months is absolute garbage.
You sound really bitter for some reason.
Well I’m not bitter and don’t know why you think I would be – I’ve heard Scots using the word, was even accused of it by my friend who is in the OO, but it seems out of context for me.
Also I never made an accusation did I?
I stated a fact, that we never managed to get Ange on a long term contract
You can make excuses and be a Board apologist all you wish
Make up stuff about people making accusations
Yet the facts are there, and the poor excuses soon follow.
Hail Hail
WELL IS IT CHAS OR DAVE WE NEED TO BE TOLD
things you never thought you would see on a celtic blog ………
I have a friend who is in the Orange Order …………
eh , whit ?
On the subject of fanzines,
I was up a Twickenham, as a tournament winner my Grandson’s team and their coaches got an invite up for the rugby final, parents had the chance of a ticket.
At the Stadium they went on a meet and greet and had their photos taken on the pitch, did a lap of honour with other winning teams at halftime, my daughter and I stayed in the fanzone with other parents, a great experience – should be compulsory at all large Stadia.
Hail Hail
Glad I looked in. Ffs no wonder I drink.
When the almighty actual fugg is the EPL bubble gonna burst ? The money for everyone involved is staggering – how is it sustainable?
Celtic have started building a stage and barriers in the Celtic Way in preparation for an expected influx of supporters following Saturday’s cup final.
Makes sense tae me.
Henrik Larsson is the last player to score against Jose Mourinho in a European final.

We shouldn’t just roll over and play ball when Spurs come a calling, ideally we refuse them permission to approach, play hardball, would rather we forced him to quit rather than just say thanks Ange see you later.
..and what about all the players he has signed from Japan, does he have any loyalty to them?
If he is ambitious as we think he is plus his love of a challenge, don’t think Spurs have won anything since 2008, massive salary, transfer budget, Premier league status, his age etc,
mind you, if he turns them down we should at least double his salary.

I already gave you my evidence on the Populist Party- 2 of the main characters were a White Supremacist and a Wee Free anti-evolutionist. Look where they gained their votes (in the post-Civil War states where the KKK thrived) and a few western states. During the period they were at their height, there was a great Migration of African Americans from the areas where they were popular. Their early rhetoric about appealing to poor black and whites alike did not transfer into any effective roles for African Americans in their organisation. I don’t know what MLK quote you are referring to but he was educated enough to know that the reality of interracial cooperation in the Populist Party was a facade of Give us your votes and we’ll look after you. In the Southern USA, that meant that any black man who stayed owed his soul and his livelihood to the company store- indentured by the local white controlled economy- working the poorer land as sharecroppers for their Economic Masters.
other 3rd Parties-
George Wallace- remember him
Ross Perot- with candidates like Pat Buchanan and Jesse Ventura and even an attempt to run by Donald Trump
I gave my exceptions too- The Green Party (which still handed an election to the Republican Party) and Eugene Debs – a genuine socialist movement though it too would have been wary of presenting too black a face.
Knock yourself out on these

The accusation is implicit.
We should have paid Ange what he was worth and put him on a long term contract, many were suggesting just that.
As for Twickenham
Most rugby stadia have such zones. Even Murrayfield. Big business. Not sure a freezing CP in November pre game would have an appeal outside. I do get your point though. We could do a lot better.
Ange, while manager of Australia, told Tom Rogic that he would have preferred him playing at a higher level than Celtic.
It was the first recollection I had when he was lined up to be Celtic manager.
Ange has also said that he sees his success as a role model for Australian managers to find an opening to getting similar jobs in European football.
A position in the EPL would certainly go some way to that.
Ange has never claimed to support Celtic from afar unlike some charlatans past, both players and manager.
If Ange is offered the Spurs job and knocks it back then I would be amazed.
Almost all professional managers and players strive to reach the highest levels, for competing against the best and financially and that is the EPL.
Ange has done brilliantly for us but I think the fear of many fans is of Lawwell controlling things like before and another in the showers appointment rather than trusting Nicholson and Desmond and their City Group association to replace Ange with another highly rated modern and progressive manager.
It’s noticeable that Chelsea appointed a manger as soon as their season finished yet Spurs have still to do so.
Are they just waiting till after the cup final to announce this?
Ange has said preceding the last 3 transfer windows that his targets had been pinpointed and he was just waiting for the window to open so as to sign the players he was looking at.
‘We never stop’ applied to this as well.
This time though he has completely shifted from this stance, stating that he has no clear targets in which to bring in and that he is more concerned with players leaving.
This completely differs from what he said at the last AGM on growing the club where he stated he welcomed players leaving because he aimed to bring in better than he had.
Would it be wrong to suggest that it sounds more like the board won’t have Ange target players because Celtic will be looking for a new manager who will be wanting to bring in players instead?
So instances point to it looking like Ange leaving, however if the club are tuned in and replace him with another top manager who will see what a couple of years success at Celtic can achieve then it may not have the disastrous impact that some foresee.
But only if the board are ambitious.
