POLL: Should Celtic re-sign Georgios Samaras?

FORMER Celtic star Georgios Samaras has terminated his contract with West Brom by mutual consent.

The Greek international arrived at The Hawthorns as a free agent in August last year after spending five-and-a-half years at Parkhead.

But when Albion boss Alan Irvine was replaced by Tony Pulis, the ex-Manchester City forward was loaned to Saudi club Al-Hilal.

Samaras recently returned to England for pre-season training, but he does not figure in Pulis’ plans and is now free to find another club.

A statement from West Brom read: “Albion announce the departure of Georgios Samaras.

“The 30-year-old has had his contracted terminated by mutual consent. Samaras penned a two-year deal last summer after signing on a free transfer.”

This news that Samaras was a free agent prompted a debate on www.celticquicknews.co.uk on Friday evening on whether or not it would be a good move for Celtic to re-sign the Greek striker given his proven track record particularly in European football.
Would Samaras fit into the system that Celtic manager Ronny Deila has implemented since taking over at the club just after Samaras left? Some posters thought the return of big Sammi would be an inspired move, especially as he is a free agent, while others thought it would be a bad move and that his time at the club had gone.
We thought we’d run a poll to see what the consensus is among the Celtic support….take part in the poll (below) and you can check back at any time and see the results.
