PONDERING MOVES FOR JANICKI, DIJKS, WILSON & ALLAN

RAFAL JANICKI, the Lechia Gdansk defender, could be the first signing of the summer for Ronny Deila’s Celtic.

Reports emerging from Poland suggest that the  22-year-old central defender who can also play as a full-back on either side will be joining the Hoops as the squad improvements commences ahead of the Champions League qualifiers.

Janicki has made 102 appearances for Lechia and is valued at around 2 million euros. He has played for the Polish under 19s on numerous occasions but has yet to win a full cap for his country.

Celtic have also continued their pursuit of Dutch left-back Mitchell Dijks. Midweek reports in the Dutch media indicated that the player had decided to return to Ajax just a year after the Amsterdam club sold him. However it seems that Celtic haven’t yet given up hope of signing the player. Celtic were also understood to have been the only club to formally bid for the player with an offer of around £1M.

Developments in the two transfer targets above could have a significance to Hearts skipper Danny Wilson who has left the Tynecastle club and awaits news from his agent regarding any of the interested clubs firming up and making him an offer. Celtic scouted Wilson extensively this season and Ronny Deila has confirmed that Wilson’s name appears somewhere on his summer shopping list.

Yesterday’s reports that Celtic may be interested in entering a bidding war with The Rangers for talented Hibs midfielder Scott Allan looks a little less likely this morning. Should Motherwell finish the job on Sunday in the Premiership play-off then it would seem unlikely that the new Ibrox club could afford to the transfer fee that Hibs would be looking for. Celtic, if interested, may choose to wait for the January window when the play will be able to sign as a free agent for next summer.
