Populist instigators without a plan

739

Loved the statement issued by the ‘3 Bears’ last night.  They protest that their offer to Rangers International was superior to the offer from Sports Direct, which was accepted.  What the sharp-eyed PR wizard didn’t figure when delivering the statement, though, is:

The board need 75% shareholder permission to dis-apply shareholder pre-emptive rights and create sufficient shares to allow the 3 Bears to fund their proposed share issue.

Support of the Easdale proxy block is needed to pass this dis-application.

Knowing they needed Easdale support, when the board asked if they would drop the EGM resolution to remove James Easdale from the board in order to make their proposal viable, the 3 Bears declined.

Consider the conversation:

A. “We’ll fund a share issue.”

B. “That needs Jimmy’s agreement.  Will you drop your plans to sack him?”

A. “No.  We’re still going to sack him.”

B. “Can’t do, Jimmy’s not going to vote for that.”

A. “It’s all your fault for not accepting our perfectly well thought-out proposal.”

It’s astonishing how shoddy an operation these clowns have.  I know no one in the media will explain the reality to fans, nor will they believe anything they read here.  When populist instigators for change have no viable plan, a club is deader than Rangers (mark I).

Rookie police taught sectarian songs before this weekend’s Old Firm match

    By David Taylor

OFFICERS who have never policed a powder keg match between the ancient rivals have been learning the words to hate songs.

ROOKIE police are being taught sectarian songs before this weekend’s Old Firm match.

Officers who have never policed a powder keg match between the ancient rivals have been learning the words to hate songs favoured by bigots on both sides of the divide, it’s emerged today.

Sunday sees the first match between the pair in almost three years after Rangers went into administration and were demoted to the Third Division.

Police Scotland have said they won’t tolerate any form of bad behaviour either before, during or after the match, and have vowed to arrest anyone caught singing sectarian songs or who is involved in violence.

In December 2011, a list of banned songs was produced by authorities.

They ruled that a number of them were sectarian, and banned fans across Scotland from belting them out.

Songs banned include the Billy Boys and The Famine Song, as well as Glasgow Celtic IRA, and the Ibrox Disaster Song.

By ommission (being so so concerned) he must view the alternative of the exiled King and Murray the Crankie Twin as most fit and proper.

I vote to give the man another spade.

Alfie, you might be better using your time and having a word with Comrade Brian rather than lecturing the ‘ignorant’ on here…….

  9. Why didn`t Mike just lend them £7m and charge them for £10m, as he`s already loaned them £3m? The way I see it, he`s now loaned them £13m, taken 3 back but now they only owe him £7m. Do you think i`d get a job at moneysupermarket.com?

Looking for a league table on the above for the last 5 years. My expectation is that the score should be something like:

Blue Zombie Hoardes 4,327 – 0 Famous Glasgow Celtic Award Winning Fans

    On the above…….

  11. Fancy a member of the UK parliament accusing anyone of not being fit and proper for anything.

I just canny get my heed roon that!

    Pot and kettle……

    Whatever next?

  12. Minceyheidman

The problem is that despite repeated requests to the authorities, no list of proscribed songs has ever been issued.

On Sunday when in excess of 20,000 Celtic supporters are singing ‘You’re not Rangers anymore!’ I’d imagine that there will be in excess of 20,000 huns who will ‘deem’ this to be ‘offensive’.

    The law’s an ass.

    What did Tom Boyd say?

    ————————————————————–

He stated in a newspaper interview that in his opinion, Sevco was a new club and he did not see Sunday’s match as a continuation of the Old Firm/Glasgow Derby of yesteryear. I paraphrase ofcourse but that is the jist of his comments.

All he now needs to do is to lend his cojones to Peter Lawwell.

Looking for advice for getting tickets for the inter away game.

I’m a season ticket holder but not on any of the euro away game lists. Any realistic chance of a ticket through the club?

If not would you recommend buying tickets through a site like viagogo? Or waiting till the day of the game and buying through local outlets?

Any advice appreciated, viagogo has tickets available from around 40 euros, used them before for non Celtic games but ideally would like to be among our fans.

Except he’s broken the £10M into 2 £5M blocks. He gave them £5M immediately but £3M of that is to go towards repaying his first loan.

So at the moment he’s essentially given them an extra £2M. With a potential £5M more to come, pending due diligence at the time of the request.

  19. Glasgow Celtic IRA and Ibrox disaster song? I go to almost every game home and away and don`t hear them. Bet your bottom dollar the Famine song and the Billy Boys will be getting pelters on Sunday, but the rookie cops won`t recognise them as all they`ve been taught to listen out for will come from the Celtic end. Kenny MacAskill`s favourite songs are exempt from prosecution, as they help to make it a wonderful occasion.

You know how you get things like the Celsius scale to measure how hot stuff is, and the Mohs scale to measure how hard rocks are?

Is there a similar scale to measure how f***ed things are?

    http://www.therst.co.uk/news/ibrox-court-action-statement/

    £1brox Court Action Statement

Following detailed legal advice, the Rangers Supporters Trust (RST), with the financial backing of the Rangers Fans Fighting Fund (RFFF), submitted a petition to the Court of Session in Edinburgh on Monday 26th January, seeking an interim interdict to stop the Rangers board from granting security over Ibrox in favour of Sports Direct.

Discussions between our lawyers and the board’s lawyers continued over the past three days. The conclusion of these discussions was the that board has agreed not to grant security over Ibrox for a period up until the 17th February covered by the advance notice they submitted. We are disappointed that we were not able to secure the extension of this commitment until the date of the upcoming EGM, as this now leaves a short period of time in which the board could grant security over Ibrox before they are hopefully removed. This is particularly concerning given the announcement yesterday that a further period of due diligence is required for the second £5m tranche of debt that the board has decided to saddle the club with.

We believe our actions had a material impact in stopping the board from granting security over Ibrox. The revised deal with Sports Direct was agreed late on Monday night according to Paul Shackleton, the club’s AIM nomad. This was immediately following the petition submitted to the court, the announcement of which delayed what would have been a necessary interdict hearing in the Court of Session on Tuesday.

    Well done Chrissie boy!

celtic are selling inter away tickets at the moment by grading

they started at grade a last week and are now up to grade c so in the next couple of days they will probably be selling to grades d and e

grade e is normally fans who havent travelled away with celtic before

once they start selling grade e tickets i suggest taking passport and travel documents to ticket office and you should get an inter ticket as long as theres some left

I can’t help but enjoy the heavy irony in an MP insisting that Mike A is not a “fit and proper” person to be involved with them. I would have thought that “unfit and improper” topped the requirements.

I’d love a huge victory this weekend but will take a good, workmanlike performance with no over-reaction to any provocation and a 2 – 0 win.
