Portents poor for Ideguchi

358

The portents are not good for Yosuke Ideguchi, injured again and set to be a spectator for the start of the season.

Signings don’t all work, but Ange Postecoglou saw something in him and he did enough to impress Leeds United scouts four years ago. Work permit issues meant he was loaned out on arrival at Leeds, a move which didn’t work out.

The positivity towards our manager and Japanese players is such, I think we are all prepared to give ‘Guchi as much time as her needs to get fit and show his value. Still, football moves on, others are likely to press their case ahead of him.  It is likely to be a long and uneventful season ahead for our January signing.

Thanks very much for the reply friend,Charlie and the 7-1 result was vital to the narrative and the tail of Celtics comtinious link with Ireland.

I recall his funeral as a youngster, reading the same tired old intimidation suggested,Police mumbling bout the safety of the team(iirc his procession went down the falls rd and players and jock dutifully carrying their team mate and friend.

In the days before our name became known globally trophies and the telling of those stories(7-1 by my late eldest cousin Eddie I can see the smile and the finger goin to palm wi each goal) those stories trickled down.

    They were wrapped in gold.

Not only Charlie?Evans,Collins,Peacock, there was a knowledge given,Jocks double pals.i know am missing loads,I hope those who saw them and experienced BobKelly lived long enough to 67 for a reward.

Charlie was there too I believe.

Hope all good and reading away there.

We had a geography quiz at my school in Kilmarnock years ago.

One question was: what Ayrshire village has the same name as a major European capital?

    The answer was Moscow

One lassie was asked the answer and said ‘Darvel’

I burst out laughing and she retorted ‘but Darvel IS in Ayrshire!’

Have you ever heard tell of the logical fallacy of false equivalence?

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Does it refer to the concept of Nationalism as used in Ireland and Scotland? I remember you explaining it thus – nationalists in the North of Ireland are entitled to seek independence because they live on an island, but nationalists in Scotland are not entitled to do the same because they are only a part of an island? Well, every day is a learning day. So forgive me for misunderstanding nationalism, as I am very much a nationalist with a small n and I have no real interest in the debate in Scotland.

  9. So the chaps representing Scottish cricket at the Grange club in Edinburgh are hit to all parts by the Black Caps who score 225/5 off of 20 overs.

The Black Caps took 72 runs off of the ever so privileged Chris Sole who bowled 4 overs at 18 runs per over. He actually took a wicket with his second last ball and had a run out from the last or he could have been heading for over 20 per over.

As it is these must be record stats. I am 60 years old and I am certain I would not have gone for that amount against anyone. This guy is a professional cricketer playing for his national team ffs.

Thank you my bhoy, great info there about Charlie’s funeral and you’re bang on about the importance of the 7-1 game. In bleak times (58-64 especially it kept us going and it is telling that ne of the supporters scenes in the Lisbon footage features a group of fans holding a big banner that simply said “7-1” – and this was 10 years after!

And yes – good reading at the minute! :)

I don’t see any geographical reasons for looking at Ireland and Scotland differently

Ireland is a country which regained its Freedom from an invading country so the last 6 counties are looking for Freedom and this can be called Independence

Scotland did a legally binding deal with England for a Union. Leaving the Union would be dissolving that contracr/union – a bit like Brexit

As I see it , the word Independence is irrelevant in the UK/Scotland debate. It confuses people as well; several people here in Ireland equate Scotland’s situation to Ireland, i.e., an invaded colony/fiefdom/dominion etc

One of my favourite scenes from Lisbon is the guy wandering about the pitch after Celtic have just won the European Cup and he is holding up seven fingers, Dick Beattie style.

Re Madmitch 12.38 pm …Many people consider politics and economics to be confusing and frankly boring in wider society ..I personally don’t because I have a reasonable education in both fields , however I absolutely do find it boring when I am reading it on a football site when I am looking to read informed opinions re the team I love…take note Madmitch …if you feel the need to wax elequently re your political / economic wisdom why don’t you go to a suitable socio/economic site and do so or are you afraid you may get out of your depth..Also , as has been stated previously, what is your penchant for abbreviating all about ?…is this meant to be clever ?…personally I find it frustrating and not very professional ….you clearly are an agitator …and I for one wonder where your true loyalties lie
