LUIS PALMA completed last season on a high after scoring the winning goal in the victory over St Mirren on the final Premiership outing at Parkhead.
The clock was ticking down towards a 2-2 stalemate when the Honduran winger tucked away a low right-wing cross from Anthony Ralston just before the champions were presented with their twelfth title in 13 years.
There was no show the following Saturday as the Hoops sealed the league and Cup double with Adam Idah’s late winner against Philippe Clement’s Ibrox also-rans at Hampden.
THAT WINNING TOUCH…Luis Palma turns away in triumph after sealing Celtic’s 3-2 victory over St Mirren on the last day of the Premiership season.
Palma has been a bit-part player this time around and has been involved for a mere 107 minutes with substitute appearances against Kilmarnock (4-0) and Hearts (2-0) in the league and League Cup outings against Hibs (3-1) and Falkirk (5-2).
The 24-year-old international ace started against the Championship side at the weekend, but toiled to make an impresion and was hooked just after the hour mark with South Korean Yang Hyun-jun coming on to add some vigour and zest to the attack.
Palma, though, has remained upbeat in his bid to catch the eye of Brendan Rodgers and he took to social media to deliver a forthright message: “RESILIENCE. That’s why you’re going to get ahead in life, because despite any adversity, you find the positive side and you start working forward.”
The flanker, who cost £3.5million from Greek outfit Aris Saloniki last summer, hopes to be involved in the manager’s plans for Saturday night’s Premiership match against St Johnstone in Perth.
