With the Premiership top six now confirmed, the league is expected to announce post-split fixtures this week. As we predicted on 5 March, this should see Falkirk and Hibernian both play 20 home and 18 away games, while Hearts, Newco, Celtic and Motherwell have 19 home and away.
The only solution I see as workable would have Celtic home to Hearts, Newco and Falkirk (for a third time in the league this season and a fourth time overall), and away to Motherwell and Hibs. Hearts will have Newco and Motherwell at Tynecastle, with away games at Celtic, Hibs and on Falkirk’s plastic.
Newco will have the inverse of Celtic’s fixtures: home to Motherwell and Hibs, away at Celtic, Hearts and Falkirk (also for a third time, including a visit there in five days).
Martin O’Neill, Danny Rohl and Derek McInnes will all look at these fixtures and tell their squads they can come out on top.
Trivia: If Celtic are home to Falkirk after the break, that will be six of the last seven meetings between these sides at Celtic Park.

We should play the Huns first day out post split. That gives us an early opportunity to set a marker down and break their momentum.

It really shouldn’t be up for debate whether the GB are allowed back in. With 4 homes games we should be seeking to maximise that advantage.
No other club in world football would deliberately hamper themselves like this. If they’re not allowed in then it’s clear our custodians do not serve Celtic’s best interests.

If we have been playing badly for a season (?), how come the title race is so close?
I don`t think we have been as good as we were in many of the past seasons but neither do I think we have been as bad as many on here suggest.

To answer your first question, it’s so close precisely because we’ve been playing so badly. We’ve lost a quarter of our league matches so far this season. You’d need to go back to the pre SPL days to get a comparator.
Looking at the second part…
Lenny won the league with 79 points in 2012/13 having lost 7 matches, pretty underwhelming given the top half comprised Motherwell (63), St Johnstone (56), ICT (54), Ross County (53) and Dundee Utd (47).
He lost the league in 2020/21 with 77 points having lost 5 matches.
He won it with 80 points 2019/20, the year it was curtailed by Covid having played only 30 matches, and lost it with 92 points in season 2010/11.
Ronny Deila got 86 points in 2015/16 with 4 losses.
WGS won it with 84 points in 2006/07 with 6 losses, and lost it with 82 points in 2008/09 with 4 losses.
Big Tony Mowbray lost it with 81 points in 2029/10 having lost 7 matches.
Objectively the worst season was Lenny’s in 2020/21, 77 points and 5 losses.
Emotionally the worst was WGS 2008/09 – Willo Flood’s finest finetre.
The most hapless was BTM’s tenure, while the biggest disappointment was Lenny’s 2020/21, marking the terminus of ‘in-a-row’.
In that context, we’re in a pretty dismal season in comparison to all others since the split was introduced, certainly in terms of matches lost, but if MON wins all of our remaining matches we’ll still win the league with 82 points, having lost 8 matches.
So I share your view that it’s not (yet) the worst, but the worst set a very low bar to crawl below.
For what it’s worth, my towel remains in the airing cupboard where I expect it to remain. Get your dough on Celtic to win the league with 80 points.

Given how poor our season has been I’ll be more than happy , and surprised , if we can go in to that last game against Hearts still in the mix – better still with it in our own hands.

So for the remaining 6 fixtures the huns will not kick off before Celtic. Hertz kick off before Celtic only once.

Having said that and putting on my paranoia hat, the huns certainly have a more favourable final day – even if Hertz are out of it, they will come to Celtic Park fully motivated if taking something from the game denies Celtic the title. Falkirk will probably be playing a dead rubber.
Getting the GB back for the last four home games is a massive lift for all concerned. Atmosphere will be terrific.

Not a big fan of mid-day kick-offs, or Sunday football for that matter, never have been, and would have preferred a 5.30 pm ko for our final (Sat) game against Hearts, (and a potentially bigger TV audience) but that apart think the SPL organisers have done a fine job in terms of the sequence of games, whilst Sky missed out on that later kick off on the last Saturday.
For years supporters have wanted more “competition” in our domestic league….

Hope Brian Wilson has managed to broker the GB return deal with grown-up conversations around future behaviours. The Board, the police and the GB all have plenty to improve upon.
I suspect only the GB will be held accountable for breaking any agreements though.
