POSTECOGLOU ON COURSE

NEW Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is poised to join up with club next week.

The Parkhead side are making progress in the process of arranging the arrival of the former Australian international manager after his appointment as Neil Lennon’s successor.

The Hoops hope Postecoglou will be free from quarantine within the next seven days after taking charge of Yokohama F Marinos for the final time last week, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.

The non-international players are set to report to Lennoxtown on Friday for pre-season training.

Initially, John Kennedy, who was in charge of the team for 10 games following the departure of Lennon in February, will take the squad and will be assisted by Gavin Strachan and Stephen McManus. But Postecoglou will be in position long before Celtic depart for a pre-season camp in Wales early next month.

His first game in control of the side will be against Sheffield Wednesday on July 7.

Celtic also face Charlton on July 10 and Bristol City on July 14 during their trip.
