Postecoglou subs shut door on challenger hopes

161

Analysing Celtic performances has become more complicated recently.  The first half in Dingwall saw the visitors create enough chances to be four goals ahead; Kyogo, alone, scored, hit the crossbar and had the easiest chance of the game saved.  After the break, Malky Mackay tightened the middle of the park to such an extent that Celtic spent 20 minutes in a battle of attrition with Ross County until three substitutions sorted things out.  The outcome was never in any serious doubt, but it took a goal from Jota in the closing minutes to confirm the points were heading back to Glasgow.

As you well know, we are at the stage of the season when the value of a SWOT analysis is less important than immediate outcomes.  A week after their first domestic defeat since September, Celtic wanted to shut the door on whatever hopes their immediate challengers had on narrowing the gap at the top.

Ross County had not lost at home since Celtic travelled there last year, the game presented a credible threat to Ange Postecoglou’s plans, but the manager was able to drop a gear when required and motor ahead.  Any serious doubts on where the title is going this season were surely extinguished with Jota’s clincher.

The movement, ability to float in the air and finish Kyogo showed at his goal reminded a few of us of a player we used to watch.  Whatever his comparative merits, he is undoubtedly a talent to be cherished.

Given where Ireland is geographically, where, post Ice Age Europe, do you think, believe, hope, pray, it was populated from?

On second thoughts, do not bother.

Unfortunately we were deemed to be an “alien Irish race”, an island not far enough away from your beloved British “mainland”.

Lets consider the Caribbean Islands, was that far away from your beloved slave trading genocidal Brits?

How far should we disappear over your Brit Empire horizon celtic mac?

A response that betrays your total and utter ignorance. Compounded only by your use of the description “Caribbean”. Though that probably escapes you.

    Maybe Not

Other than that keep up the good work.

As Jobo used to say 5 more sleeps to we all but regain our title.

Well the 5 more sleeps bit he would say.

    D :)

  5. ONLY A THIRD OF THE POPULATION HAVE CONFIDENCE IN POLICE SCOTLAND.

Just a footnote to the debate, partly concerning the arson at Peter Lawwell’s house, and how the Police are dealing with it – some on here quite concerned over this and other law and order issues.

Well maybe we shouldn’t be surprised. A recent survey on behalf of Police Scotland found that confidence in the Police has plummeted to an all time low of 38%.

The killing off of regional forces to form a quasi National Guard type service is at the heart of poor performance and has politicised policing in the minds of many.

The closure of 140 police stations and offices has happened in Scotland over the past decade, new figures reveal. The Scottish Police Federation said it was having a “detrimental impact” on policing, especially in remote and rural areas.

I don’t often agree with Ernie when it comes to politics but I don’t believe in censorship of any kind. If a comment is abusive or uses foul language then a case can be made for removal.

When a moderator starts removing comments just because it is political, a line is crossed. It is surely not within a moderator’s remit to dictate which topics can and cannot be aired.

Where do we draw the line?

  8. JHB,

Before you start on a political rant concerning Police levels. The whole of Britain is in the same boat.Same with NHS waiting lists, problems with Care home staff, etc.

    Just in case.

  9. Tom,

Maybe a line can be drawn when the debate between two, takes up a couple of pages of the Blog.It is a Celtic Blog, and some use it for their own agendas. Not debate, just regurgitating every day their own Dogma.

  10. The fact remains that there were those who thought of the Irish as a separate and inferior race and such views were at the core of the Scottish national movement and the SNP.

Propagandists for Scottish independence and the SNP who post on here have to come to terms with that historical fact and deal with it.

If the Church of Scotland can do it so can the SNP and their shills.

  13. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Slightly sour pussed post but ….

“Title was borrowed” jibes are, IMHO, inappropriate, lowest common denominator foolishness which undermines outstanding achievements across many years.

It is not our league trophy.

It is there to be won every season.

Winning the league is the ultimate domestic accolade.

It is an incredibly difficult thing to do.

Old Firm FC didn’t borrow it last season.

    They won it

We are in a very good place to win it this season.

After which it goes into the history books (unbroken history in our case) and is up for grabs all over again from early August.

PS – we are doing amazingly well in the league during this generation of domination.

    Long may it continue.

If we stay focused, intelligent and humble, IMHO, there is a very good chance it will.

    Hail hail

Every candidate will be ranked in order of preference. That’s the way the Cooncil votes work here. Seems to be a surprise to many.

What I’ve noticed though is that an election which should be about how local services are being provided is being presented as being about a constitutional question.

That looks to me like a distraction technique for the public and a displacement activity for the AUOB eejits.

  15. I see the rags are touting a left back Mohanad Jeahze? that we are supposed to be scouting ?

  16. did everyone vote on the Celtic site for the end of season awards?

    O’Reilly (2nd) goal vs St J

Weiings (i think) WPOTY – a bit like voting in Union NEC reps, you don’t really know them so go on the snippets you do know. She scored a few winners was my reckoning. Sorry, I know that is bad

Surprised that Liel Abada hasn’t been nominated for YPWA and Stephen Welsh has.

St.Tams I read it may have to be a Scottish player(might be wrong),so maybe not abada.good number of goals and assists tho.can see why
