Agreeing on important topics, like wages, seems a straightforward business for some. You wonder if agreeing compensation is more of a challenge.
Celtic and confirmed prime target Brendan Rodgers have lots to discuss, not least who will make it into his backroom team. Chris Davies was considered the power behind the throne when they were both I’m Glasgow before.
Chris was the technician, Brendan’s main sounding board and tactical resource. At 38, after 13 years as a Rodgers protégé, he will have options of a manager’s of his own. I respect Chris greatly but wonder if Brendan needs a fresh pair of eyes after do many years.

As the song says, meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
Won’t get fooled again csc
Ooft,a wee bit bitchy there Paul :-).”The power behind the throne”.I always have grave misgivings about this claim. As in the Gerrard\ Beale thing. If that were the case, then why would clubs not just hire the”Power”,instead of paying the stooge manager a fortune. Was JK the power behind Ange ?
Anyway,Adidas Friday looks a cert.
Talk about the tramps across the city signings earlier.their latest allegedly getting a medica, and costing £3.5 million,is a striker who has scored 4 goals in 60 games, with 4 teams.A few permutaions there but I think correct.
Should we be worried ?.
Was Steve Walford the power behind MON or are we just stretching credibility here?

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
I remember that being said often.
Anyone who hasn’t heard of Chris Davies and who didn’t know his impact really does not have a clue quite frankly.
Amongst many things his refusal and rebuttal of Steven Gerard’s offered handshake with the comment that “you are not my friend in this city in the job that I do” says it all about Davies. A guy I would want in the trenches on my side for sure.
I can say with certainty that I have no idea what’s going on.
Take that to the bank.
Fairport Convention had a single with the lyrics-
For its the more I learn
It’s the less I seem to know
I am beginning to lose faith in ITK rumours
Wee Messi scores within 80mins of the start of the friendly v the Socceroos.
Scary stuff.
Jeez.

THE EXILED TIM @ 12:46 PM,
Yes, back in the nineties, many in Engerland used to say that it was Brian Kidd that was the true greatness behind Man utd’s success.
Having a Scotsman dominating the Premier League didn’t sit well with them.
If they really knew anything about football then, they would’ve known who was the real deal…
Of course, they do know now.
Hail Hail
MELVIN UDALL re: typos and ducking bell
Been spendin’ most of their lives in the hamster paradise
Lionel’s goal was typically delicious MD!
Last night I spoke to a Melb local who knows Ange a bit.
Says he has a pathological point to prove that he’s up to snuff.
Driven to show his doubters he’s as good as any of the best.
Says his affection for us is real – but that EPL is the ultimate ‘told you so’ platform.
Shirley the compo Paul’s alluding to is the Spurs money for JK and Gavin?
P67
‘Chris Davies was considered the power behind the throne when they were both I’m Glasgow before.’
Considered by whom?
I have never heard that accusation bandied about.
But what it does confirm is that Lawwell is giving this the thumbs up for P67 to put it out.
And Lawwell is clearly not a happy man.
Pleasing.

Sorry late reply – work
I don’t know if its DDs plan but as boss I would assume he will have a say – a big say
As for bad blood, again, I do not know – but there was an issue somewhere
All speculative – lets hope whatever the issue (I do believe there was an issue) it has been rectified by all parties

Not in my experience.
Where did you live in England in the 90s?

I am trying to be logical and assuming all concerned are kissing and making up
As for PL being Chair and not getting involved – I find it difficult to see PL sitting on his hands
If PL has something to say I think he says it
That’s why he was a great CEO
I just hope he is comfortable with the Rogers return

RIP Gordon McQueen
Never liked the comment he made about Paul Elliott , but he is someone’s father, grandfather.
Who is more foolish, the clubs that have appointed the better guy as number 2, or the better guys who took much less money and credit than their boss to whom they were clearly superior??
“No, Steve, here, take a couple of grand, thanks for covering for me”.

ECW a few moments ago.
Cheers.
Actually think – either by design or accident – our executive leadership composition is a good fit, blend and mix.
I like what I see of Peter Lawwell (never met him).
But he is clearly front office.
Glad handing, back slapping (if required, holding metaphorical knife).
Not a DoF.
Doesn’t come across as a details guy.
The football division has grown.
More people, more structure, decent brains.
And then credit to Nicholson.
His transition to CEO has (from the outside) looked seamless.
Maybe it’s his personality type, maybe it is a deliberate approach but …
already having a major shareholder, Chairman and (hopefully) manager with big profile/personality/ego? ….
He’s quietly getting on with the job.
Proof in kind – I struggle to remember the guy’s first name or what he looks like.

Genuine question
Did you suport the old board up to the McCann takeover?
And are you Gerry McSherry who used to phone the Daily Record hotline?
Gordon McQueen – £495,000
Kenny Dalglish – £440,000

—————
I hope he is gutted.
I have been saying all week that there is an uncomfortableness (is that a word?) about Paul 67s reporting on the BR return
I completely get how some feel a bit unloving on the return of an adulterer (he who has not sinned throw the first stone – but that’s another debate)
I also can’t get as excited this time around
But I am less worried about my own excitement as I am about Paul 67s
Simply because I always associate Paul67s view to be somewhere close to Peter Lawwell
That relationship has served this site well for a very long time
Because if Paul67 is not happy does that mean that Peter is not happy
And if Peter is not happy…………Brendans job becomes a bit harder
So I look to Paul67 to brighten up the mood and talk up our new (potential) manager
If Paul67 is happy, I assume Peter is happy and if Paul67 and Peter are happy – I’m happy
Fingers crossed

Or better still.
Get rid of Lawwell, bring in a new chairman and move forward.
It was with trembling trepidation and anticipation I opened CQN this morning. (How’s that Fred Colon?)
I even woke up early for it.
Safe to say no Celtic Firm News but an apparent volte face from our intrepid host.
Was he stalling us all along or was he trying to save us from tears if the negotiations on the back room team fell through as with Howe?
BTW.
Has anyone seen a delivery of potassium chlorate and other smoke making chemicals to Celtic Park?
NICK @ 1:45 PM,
Yes, actually I’ve spent most of my time in Bucks but for various reasons I did move around a bit in the nineties.
Used to do project/freelance work as well at that time, hence working all over…
Still, not all the English were like that, the Man City supporters definitely were in my experience.
Hail Hail
Celtic’s new CEO looks uncannily like Mark Zuckerberg’s long lost Scottish cousin.
Sometimes I wish Rod the Mod would just reserve his pie-hole for Small Faces numbers.
In football the very best managers and coaches have a team of people. I’m sure the late great Jock Stein would have been the first to point out the great job Sean Fallon, Benny Rooney, Neilly Mochan etc. did. The same with Martin O’Neill and Stevie Walford, John Robertson. I don’t see anything wrong with Brendan relying on someone to deal with training etc. while the manager deals with the press, players individually, a top talent to attract other top talent, it has been like this for ever and now in the past 20-30 years it is essential no manager, regardless of who they are works on their own. Teams of managers/coaches work together with squads of players making the team on a given day successful.
