Precious days

97

Dundee United are the team with most to play for tomorrow.  Tied with Aberdeen on 50 points and three behind Hibs, a win for Aberdeen at home to Hibs tomorrow could see United slip out of the Europa League qualification spots and into the Conference.  Celtic’s uncertainty is about when they achieve their objective, United’s is very much still to fight for.

Good luck to them, but they are up against seasoned champions, who are likely to step up a gear and get the work done.  Brendan Rodgers has as fit a squad as he is ever likely to have, the players have not played midweek since the middle of February, and have recent experience of what happens when form dips.  It is hard to see past the champions tomorrow.

Enjoy tomorrow, these days are precious.

    Ever drink in Heraghty’s Bar?

Ran into a friend of mine in London last week who is a member of that clan.

    Think his Uncle runs it…..

    Shocking decision.

Ref clearly influenced by the theatrics of the Thistle players.

No wonder players charge the ref.

    It works.

  7. Thistle steal it at the end, 2-1.

Should have been full-time before that

No rule that says any team should be allowed to take a free kick after time is up….is there?

  8. BIGRAILROADBLUES, genuine question, is there a pub in Glasgow you’ve never been in My ( hun pubs included) :)

  9. lets all do the huddle on

No rule that says any team should be allowed to take a free kick after time is up….is there?

what if the ref gives the free kick 30 seconds before time up, regardless of how long it takes to sort things out before it gets taken (injury, bookings, sort the wall out etc), there are still 30 seconds to play once it gets taken, no matter what the clock says.

didnt see the game so that could be totally irrelevant 😀

  10. The Blogger Formerly Known As GM on

There was no added time in our semi-final.

Seemingly there are no rules for what happens after 90 minutes, it’s at the discretion of the referee.

Quelle surprise the huns get an extra 10 minutes if they’re behind.

  11. Listening to BR”s latest Mefia Broadcast I noticed a few references to how DD brought him back and how input from others about the future persuaded him that in spite of the way he left, returning was the right thing to do.

I think this supports the narrative that the past is no indicator of the present and the future when it comes to relationships between the manager and The Board.

  12. Ba goes out for a shy right on full time….

Ref thinks…..better gie em time tae tak it…..

It is how we learn from that time Auldheid.

And perception then was he was detatched

Untrue then imo but PL was the focus.

Football has changed so much in the last decade,

and it will change again eg musings are already being made about changing CL structure, just like the original CL changed from 1992.

At Celtic we are more successful than ever but we have an aging board and experience is vital as we step forward, legacy issues with Dermot and the Trainers, this must be done well, leaving no gaps as hopefully there will be no uncertainty during the change.I see growing roles for Chris McKay as legacy for PL,Michael Nicholson will carry on but as you pointed out all our board members involved in FSR will ensure we meet the balance sheet & P&L detail will be.i would like to see more roles for our NEDs,using and introduction of some fresh talent

    We look forward

A lot to be gettin on with

    Same ol Celtic always winning

    Good lu k

  15. Good Morning Fholk – Grand Day To Be A Tim

    AULDHEID @ 3:11 PM, 11:27 PM,

    Hope all is well…

Yes, thanks for the explanation of Celtic’s input into the FSR…

Back in the day, a few seasons after we engaged Peter Lawwell as a retrenchment Executive, it was clear how Celtic were going to run a tight ship.

With Celtic’s player’s wage bill well under 20% < revenue, we are most certainly in a very good position as far as the FSR goes.

What we have achieved this season with the level of spend has been nothing short of phenomenal.

    https://salarysport.com/football/scottish-premiership/celtic/

Thought Brendan did an excellent presser yesterday, we are very lucky that such a talented coach and manager caught the Celtic bug in his younger days.

The insights were telling and as we have discussed in the past, BR seemed to be very much DD's choice.

He was gushing about the main man and feels well supported, this phrase was telling…

“I missed the club. So I’m back and now I’ve enjoyed every second of it — apart from the beginning [rye smile] — but in the main, it’s gone really well …

He confirmed that when sounded out for a return, an agreement with DD and the Executive as we had expected, we can speculate of the turbulence at “the beginning”, but we know we can only achieve Celtic’s potential with everyone pulling in the same direction.

AN TEARMANN @ 12:16 AM, makes some very salient and interesting points, we need to refresh and enhance the Board and move on to a new phase.

Great times to be a Celt indeed.

Really looking forward to today’s game.

  17. Season ticket now 730 quid for North Stand lower for me a bit of a hike.

Hey ho worry about that next month.

  18. Watched the Jock Stein programme on Alba last night. Interesting, naturally but also noticeable was that every time the two big Glasgow clubs were mentioned, it was ` Rangers and Celtic`. Always THEM first.

PS The MSSM is the same ……unless it is a negative story then we get priority !

Best way to deal with that small-minded nonsense? Keep winning the League.

  19. CHAIRBHOY on 26TH APRIL 2025 6:57 AM

Great times to be a Celt but we need change at boardroom level?

    No pleasing some people :)

  20. It is a funny day to be talking about the need for change at Celtic.

To put it basically we are a very winning club, long may it continue
