Precious days

97

Dundee United are the team with most to play for tomorrow.  Tied with Aberdeen on 50 points and three behind Hibs, a win for Aberdeen at home to Hibs tomorrow could see United slip out of the Europa League qualification spots and into the Conference.  Celtic’s uncertainty is about when they achieve their objective, United’s is very much still to fight for.

Good luck to them, but they are up against seasoned champions, who are likely to step up a gear and get the work done.  Brendan Rodgers has as fit a squad as he is ever likely to have, the players have not played midweek since the middle of February, and have recent experience of what happens when form dips.  It is hard to see past the champions tomorrow.

Enjoy tomorrow, these days are precious.

  1. Always need to move forward and progress to stay ahead i feel.

    On and off the field.

    Habe a good day bhoys.

  2. Off up to Dundee. Buzzing for it today as much as the first time we won it at Tannadice in 81. The late and truly great Celt Tommy Burns scored with his right foot.

A triumph which was eclipsed in 08 when WGS team won it in Tommy’s’ honour that emotional Thursday night courtesy of Jan Venegoor. What a night, emotions unsurpassed in Dundee that evening.

Hopefully a 3rd win to clinch it there this time (Ange’s team drew 4 years ago) and we can celebrate 55. An incredible 34 in our life time for those approaching reduced season book age.

Bournesouprecipe, despite the recent personal attacks you have made me, I am genuinely sorry you have not got a ticket. These are special Celtic days. Real supporters should be there. Someone who I showed some compassion towards, when they were having tough times a few years ago, very kindly offered me a seat for today’s game. I do feel very privileged. Not sure what are but that is for another day. Enjoy your day with all your new Celtic gear. I will be having a few bob on wee James to score the first or last goal.

Hope you’re good, thanks for the comments on FSR, like you, I reckon ‘Celtic are on it’ and don’t need ‘scaremongering’ about what we can, and can’t afford due to sustainability.

Thought Brendan did an excellent presser yesterday, we are very lucky that such a talented coach and manager caught the Celtic bug in his younger days.

As ever he did, and It’s a bug open to all.

How long can you keep a tier one, elite manager is now the number one SMSM narrative. ‘ Going into his last year ‘ is the driver for them, it’ll be repeated ad nauseum.

They want him and his tedious treble chasing gone, they are ramping it up and it will peak in May.

Both Celtic and Liverpool now have points tallies that cannot be surpassed.

Both can be confirmed champions this weekend.

    Liverpool play late tomorrow afternoon.

Celtic kick off in 75 minutes.

BBC Football Home page all over Liverpool’s prospects since yesterday.

    Not a mention of Celtic.

Perhaps BBC Sport Scotland staff are too busy watching the Pope’s funeral.

  8. Celtic: Sinisalo, Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Taylor, Engels, McGregor, Kuhn, Hatate, Maeda, Jota.

Whilst I agree with that, it is also important to enjoy the present successes .

Is Brendan trying to encourage Taylor to stay ?

  12. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    HS – agreed.

My digs at Shortbread are repetitive and possibly boring. Understood.

Genuinely couldn’t care less how commercial media organisations portray Celtic.

    They follow the pound. Period.

    State broadcaster should do better.

As you say though, the inverse relationship between our success and their negative or indifferent portrayal is palpable.

If both continue on current trajectories?

Even the dumbest consumers will eventually wake up and think “hang on, this isn’t true”

I think Greg Taylor has contributed immensely since he got the Celtic.

Hope all the Celts here have a great day.

As for the hunterlopers and trolls, hope you get shafted with the wide end of a ragman’s trumpet.

  16. Almost 25 years to the day Rangers won their 49th domestic league title while we sat on 36.

The importance of drawing level with them might have diminished to us the nearer it has got, and such a sustained period of such extreme doninance might make today seem less significant, but in the history of Celtic it is.

I don’t think anyone would have believed you in April 2000 if you’d said it was possible this quickly. From miles behind to indisputably the biggest in 25 years is remarkable

Watched the Jock Stein programme on Alba last night. Interesting, naturally but also noticeable was that every time the two big Glasgow clubs were mentioned, it was ` Rangers and Celtic`. Always THEM first.

PS The MSSM is the same ……unless it is a negative story then we get priority !

Best way to deal with that small-minded nonsense? Keep winning the League.

    —————

I’m sure I’m not telling you or anyone else anything they don’t already know but it’s an infallible way of telling which one of the members of the now defunct “Old Firm” someone supports.

Whichever team they mention first in talking about games between us is their team of choice – simples!
