Out of Europe and 13 points clear in the league, Celtic’s biggest game on the fixture list comes next month against Hibernian in the Scottish Cup. Everything we do between now and then must have an eye on winning that encounter at Celtic Park.
The first stage in that quest is a visit to Easter Road tomorrow. Hibs are on a run of 12 games without defeat, which includes eight wins. This has seen them climb off the bottom of the table and join Aberdeen and Dundee United in the fight for third place. These are good times for David Gray’s side.
Their last defeat is worth exploring for both clubs. Your memory may have faded, but Celtic’s 3-0 win over Hibs that day did not reflect the flow of the game. Hibs could have matched our goal tally. It was evident that Gray was close to getting a tune out of his side, and Celtic still had work to do.
My biggest concern about the two games ahead against Hibs is the number of times we have faced them this season. Tomorrow is the fourth time the teams have met. Celtic have won the previous three but good sides and good managers learn how to play you.
Back in October we ended another great undefeated run when we dismantled Aberdeen at Hampden. The bubble burst and send the Dons into a tailspin. Hopefully a win tomorrow can do the same to Hibs, before that all important Scottish Cup tie.

I still think our biggest threat is calmac’s demise – we’ve had an amazing run with GKs (Barkas we forgive you). But our run with midfielders has defined our last 20 years (impo).
lennie, stan, broonhinho, calmac.
My point is that this position is – oh f hell, can’t say it – it’s the one position that insulates us against the model (I love the model cos it’s got us success and consistency but you put a yang in calmac’s place and we fall apart).
anybody able to say what I want to say?
Does this UB sprayed everywhere mean Ugly Bassas?
No new injury concerns from the game in Munich which is good, very little was asked about tomorrow’s game it was mostly about Tuesday’s performance in Munich with 1 female asking if the club is making plans already for next years CL campaign, cart before the horse that bigtime, this is a right big game tomorrow for us, think we only go there and Paisley before the split, the rest at home.
California Raisins! They’ve certainly shrivelled enough.

A brief word about Evan Williams, a very good goalkeeper and a lovely man. He was our guide the day my family did the stadium tour, he could have charmed the birds from the trees that day and my wife – clearly a good judge of men :-) – still talks about what a gentleman he was. His love of Celtic shone brightly across those many years, and those couple of hours in his company left members of my family who weren’t born into Celtic with a new and nuanced understanding of what Celtic means to those of us who were.
A good man, a fine ambassador. May his soul rest in peace.
The Sanfransevs will be hopeful of a better success rate than their potential owners/masters’ original team.
One title in 30 years will not, I suspect, be acceptable to the deranged untermensch who follow the zombie club.

Evan Williams RIP
Thought Paul would have mentioned his passing in the article.

Very good assesment of the san fransevco’s, Alan knows his stuff
Just caught up re the sad passing of Evan Williams.
He was a lovely unassuming person. Chatting with him it was hard to imagine this was a man who had played in a European Cup Final and semi finals.
Even harder to imagine Evan trying to manage McGrain Hay, Brogan Connelly McNeil in front of him.
He was a really good keeper at a time when we needed one and more importantly a really good guy.
Anyone wondering what possible black arts could be at work with the alleged takeover, the sometimes very good James Forrest article today, sheds a ood bit of light on the shenanigans that could be afoot.Food for thought
Well worth a read.
Amid all the drama being spoken about across the river,we have,at last,an official St Patricks Day Parade this year.In the city centre,no less.
I just can’t read James Forrest.
Some discussion going on earlier in the year about taking over the Emirates Arena.Think SS even had the price required.Seems to me it would be a fantastic chance for us to take over, naming it The Celtic Emirates Arena, incorporate it with Celtic Park ,naming it The Celtic Emirates Stadium, and the area,The Celtic Emirates Complex,or such.
A venture,I am sure that would have Emirates purring,at such high profile imagery.Bars, restaurants, parking,Naming Rights, continued usage of existing amenities.Money spinner.
Just a thought.

I know what you mean but it is a reasonable piece today. As is often the case, James won`t use 10 words when 100 are available but the gist of his article makes it worthy of a read.
OK HOT SMOKED.
I trust you so will dip in tonight when i get home from the office.

Damn ! There goes your trust in me :-))))
If my memory serves well, I feel many teams suffer a poorish result in the first game after a tough European mid-week game.
Prove me wrong, Celtic !
Cheerio for now.

AT – thanks for that and yes, I agree with Alan’s basic premise that RIFC equity is effectively worthless.
I use the words “effectively worthless” because I’ve mentioned a few times RIFC has option value (buying a call option is where you stake a defined amount of capital that could end up worthless for potentially unlimited upside) – who knows, there may be a European super-league in 5 years time. If Celtic are in it perhaps they can tag along as part of the OF. They and the SMSM certainly seem keen to keep the OF brand alive. In that scenario they’d make out like bandits.
In the meantime there is certainly scope to improve how RIFC is run. However, being “American” guarantees nothing (trust me, I have first hand knowledge – when it comes to investing they are incredibly short sited and can be remarkably stupid).
Valuing RIFC equity at the rumoured £150m is just stupid.
.
If they are lucky they may double their start up
And get 2 quid for this incarnation….

Each week I play a (silly) game – I listen to the manager’s presser and then try to predict the snidey, disparaging or generally negative headline that will inevitably accompany BBC Scotland’s online report of his presser.
I wracked my brain today and couldn’t think of one – proud of the team after Munich, looking to win two trophies, looking to win tomorrow, no injuries after Tuesday – but lo’: “No new contract talks for ‘happy’ Rodgers’.

Thanks AT – I like Alan’s ability to analyze and share informed opinions. If they follow their MO, then I don’t see any material change in a hurry but the hype will be in overdrive. You know what we all say about “the hope” ⚰️

When they say “short illness” or “died suddenly” in the context of the past 5 years, that usually means killed by mRNA vaxxeens which Sinn Fein went the all woke facism route, demanding civilians be sacked, or worse, for not taking a vaxxeen, without being told what was in it, or any test results being provided, from dodgy big Pharma companies owned by zios who want the Western world’s populations wiped out.
The supposedly stupid Huns totally slung the Plandemic bs whilst awe the wee virtue signalling dim Timmy imperialists were with witch hunting real Jungle Book schooled Tims who saw the Plandemic bs coming a mile away and tried to help those who refused to see it. So sad and sickening.
Sadly a lot of blow hards and fog horns on here and the other Celtic blog were equally complicit like Sinn Fein were, who like Starmer, Krankie, Boris and all of the EU, US, CAN, NZ, AUS, etc….scumbaggery beyond belief.

I opted out several years ago – I think he is well read and articulate but takes it too personal (that’s MY job), I ended up giving him a ‘Mr Angry’ moniker.
Not personal, since we haven’t met, just his writing style.
What do you gain from this?

Agreed, yes!
