STEVEN NAISMITH has been sacked as Hearts manager after a horrendous sequence of defeats.
The former Tynecastle striker was only in the job 132 days after originally taking over in a caretaker capacity from Robbie Neilson who had also been dismissed by the Edinburgh club.
Naismith becomes the second Premiership gaffer to be axed in the space of a week after St Johnstone fired one-time Scotland international head coach Craig Levein.
The Hearts support showed their displeeasure after their team’s 2-1 loss to St Mirren in Paisley yesterday, their eighth successive defeat.
SHOUT OF ORDER…sacked Steven Naismith.
Naismith started the campaign with a goalless draw against his former Ibrox club, but the conveyor belt of woeful results since the opening day of the term has seen his stay in Gorgie come to an abrupt end.
Former Tynecastle boss John McGlynn expressed his view live on Premier Sports as he chatted before his side Falkirk’s League Cup quarter-final Celtic at Parkhead this afternoon.
Match analyst Charlie Mulgrew cheekily asked him if he would be interested in a return to the club and McGlynn replied in an instant: “I’ve got a real good group of players, so I’m happy working away here right now.”
Earlier, he had remarked: “There are great expectations at Hearts and the fans were not pleased, Obviously, that led to this happening.
“I’m sure Steven will bounce back and he will have learned a lot in the last year.”
The champions added to Naismith’s woes last weekend with a 2-0 win over his team with Arne Engels (pen) and Luke McCowan on target.
