Premiership takes familiar shape with a green exception

517

It was good to get our business out of the way on Friday night before what turned out to be an interesting weekend, as the Scottish Premiership adopted a familiar look. Aberdeen did well to come from behind away to Ross County. They will not challenge for top spot, but their grip on second place looks to be in rude health.

The major questions is, is there a genuine challenge from Hibs for the remaining European spots? Their win at Ibrox, also coming from behind, suggests Neil Lennon has instilled an important ingredient of success: attitude. Not every opponent will be as defensively porous as Newco. Nor will they always face a self-defeating pantomime of a stadium.

The test for Neil will come when his team faces disciplined defensive formations – like Ross County, the only side who have prevented Hibs from scoring this season.

St Johnstone are the only other team on full points, however, they have the benefit of starting the season earlier than those who didn’t have European football, so I wouldn’t read too much into their wins against Motherwell and Kilmarnock. Their 0-3 League Cup tanking at home to Partick Thistle may be more indicative of the season ahead.

Certainly no expert, but I know the share price of businesses in these markets reflect the market movers opinion of the underlying value of each one. It’s likely that we’re not far away from Celtic announcing summary results for the year to June and the number crunchers will have extrapolated the six month interims to have a good idea about the club’s (i.e.the company’s) net worth.

We stayed there earlier in the year for one night.

    Right old fashioned place.

There is a good pub across the road and to the right.

    The Anglers.

Also the chippy across the road and to the left is worth a visit!

    Enjoy!

    Good news!

I think the powers that be can see through the hun agenda………at last.

I wonder if PL is beginning to influence our referees and legal guardians in his ludge?

    Ye never know!

  5. Ha, ha, ha …

I think someone at Shortbread must be reading CQN!

Further to my earlier note (@ 10:17) pointing out the suspicious lack of any mention of Celtic on the Beeb’s ‘Glasgow & West’ news web-link: lo and behold, a few minutes later, a Celtic-related story pops up (albeit a negative one, on the prospect of KT being lured south). Still no mention of Champions League football, though.

I should have taken a screen grab …

  7. The Imperial Bears are trying to bring pressure on the Daily Rectum to give them better reviews!

Good god, The Daily Rectum – better reviews for Sevco? If it gave them any better reviews it

would have to change it’s name to the Daily Hun!

Anyway, to achieve this end they are targetting the main advertisers at The Rectum starting with

Arnold Clark – asking supporters not to buy anything from this organisation.

Why, therefore don’t we, as Celtic supporters, reciprocate with a ban of our own?

The company keeping the lights on at Snake Mountain with soft loans is Parks of Hamiltion.

Every penny given to this group for car and parts purchase, bus hires (are you listening CFC?) etc

helps towards the contnued existence of the Manky Mob?

  8. I read on line that Alves is the best paid player in Scotland 30k plus a week!!!!!

    That cannot be right?

    Oh my good God!

I watched Sportscene a few times the last few days and watching the highlights his positional sense for a very experienced player was horrific. If he was a Celtic CB we’d be wailing and gnashing our teeth – think Boyata, Ambrose, Erik sometimes when they do something less than immaculate in defence for us and plenty before them. And then imagine any of them were our best earners! Heated driveways, scouting networks and lack of ambition would be taken to new levels of overuse………

My suspicion is that he can’t be that poor and that, going by his body language, he just wasn’t trying that hard or his legs aren’t doing what they maybe used to (never saw much of the guy in his younger days as far as I know). It wasn’t just at the goals either, he was chasing things in strange parts of the field for a CB – so he either thinks he is too good for this league and can do what he likes or he’s just not that good.

But 30 plus thousand a week for that! Holy Moly……..

On the downside I hope it doesn’t lead to discontent in our own team at not getting those wages for being much better than him!!

Anyone paying Alves the thick end of £2m a year-plus signing on fee-has a total disregard for finance.

The huns have casually ignored income/expenditure ever since Murray arrived-if not before.

    Whyte?

    Green?

It gets worse with every incarnation.

But these people who now run that club are throwing money around like confetti, and I for one would like to know where it is coming from.

    PS-I have my suspicions

PPS-since I’m no f…..g Sherlock, why are they getting away with it?

  10. Check out picture on ETIMS today of ALVES at Murrays goal on SAT

And if stlll available look at the job he does when Murderwell

break near end of game and guy goes himself instead of playing guys free on

    either side of him.

Alves clatters into to someone on half way line

HE is passed by about 6 players 3 from each side as he tries to get back

then clatters into one of his own players in the box.

30K a week HOPE SO and hope clause he has to play…
