Preseason pains

733

Results in preseason friendlies are (fortunately) notoriously unreliable indicators of results in competitive games, but Celtic will be alarmed at the scale of the deficit against Greuther Fuerth, from the German second tier, especially after reversals against Sevastopol and Cluj.  Clubs from Ukraine, Romania and Germany are apparently organised, even during the summer months.

Next week’s game against Cliftonville is Celtic’s first test, but they will come thick and fast from now on.

Losing a friendly 6-2 brought an unwelcome feeling.  Then I wondered how it would have felt to lose a competitive game by the same score to a major rival.  Ouch.  Made me feel a little better.

  1. Kev. Used to think he was not that great. But Jesus look at the dross since

Big Varga looked world class compared to the ones that have come after

Big Varga and Balde were regulars , problem know is we have so many average center halfs that no one gets a run as they are dropped

See upfront and midfield for similar policy

    Edinson Cavani .

Sicilian radio claiming he will put pen to paper today .

He will cost PSG 63 million euros and a big wage .

Deal said to have been done lots of times but then there were snags . Those snags supposedly related to image rights. He wanted 100% @ but PSG said 50%.

Sicilian radio claiming that the image rights issue has been dealt with by PSG paying Cavani a million a year more than originally agreed .

    We’ll see.

I’ll give it till – the end of September and my guess is that the novelty of the new season will have worn off and – 30 / 40% of the attendance will disappear – just like last season.

So much for the wonderful model if – Vic67 and Hooper are sold – who else is there left to go and see ?

Off oot this time – take care.

There are three main personality types. The Thinkers. The Feelers and The Doers.

Im a Thinker/Doer who recognises that whilst I do not believe what I or others feel is in fact real, no matter how real it feels to them, those feelings come from somewhere and represent reality to the Feelers and those feelings should not be dismissed but explored.

That is how I think with my thinking head on (Worzel stuff). With my feeling head on as happens occasionally I get annoyed that Feelers do not explore the cause of those feelings enough.

But when I say annoyed, I am not so much annoyed at them but at what I FEELthey are missing and that is life is absolutey incredible and whoever designed it is a better judge of reality than I or any of us are.

Once you understand better what makes folk tick you come to appreciate there is really nothing to get annoyed about and that everything is going to plan.

“How many players have we signed and how long and much money will be wasted before another Vic comes along”

That’s life following a football team.

The club is still here. And will always survive the departure of our top players.

  8. KevJungle,

To be fair Schindilin, Lalanna, and Ramierz i wouldn’t say to no to from Southhampton.

Lennon looking at that they have an ambitious young manager like himself that is slowly making a name for himself. Pocchentio a good coach.

Can see Southhampton challenging Europa position this year.

  9. South of Tunis,

Who have Napoli lined up for Cavani replacement?

    Vargas in with a shout????

Don’t think Napoli will be as entertaining this year under Rafa.

Expect Mazzani to do a decent jpb at Inter.
