DOUBTS have been cast over the decision to award Brendan Rodgers the Manager of there Year award after it emerged yesterday afternoon that the new Sevco Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha is almost neck and neck with the Celtic boss since the Portuguese lit up Scottish football after his arrival at Ibrox.

Rodgers has managed to get the most out of what is regarded by Pedro himself as the second best squad in Scottish football but a win for tomorrow night for Caixinha’s superstars against Aberdeen will see the Irishman slip two points behind his great rival and heap the pressure on Rodgers as he takes his side to Firhill 24 hours later, as both sides battle for the Pedro-Fax Trophy.

Derek  McInnes is already well off the pace having gone 7 points behind Celtic and 6 behind Pedro’s Sevco Rangers.

Lat Friday Rodgers’ men scrapped past Aberdeen and benefitted from the SFA’s man in the middle denying the Dons a clear penalty. After what happened at Ross County is seems that they are simply too scared to award a penalty against Celtic. It was a stonewaller and Craig Gordon should have seen red but Peter Liewell, who runs the SFA would have over-ruled this anyway.

This is what Pedro is up against, yet he has clearly got the better of Rodgers since his arrival in Scotland to replace Mark Warburton who Dave King resigned with great dignity without giving him a pay-off.

Pedro’s coaching skills were apparent in the recent Scottish Premiership match between the teams at Ibrox when Kenny Miller ghosted past 4 Celtic defenders, worked a lovely one-two with Martyn Waghorn before beating Gordon with a stunning finish.

Oh how Kenny celebrated!

Rodgers looked a broken man on the sidelines as he watched Rangers tear through his defence to score with apparent ease.

It’s worrying times for Rodgers and he will anxiously await the outcome tomorrow evening hoping that his mate Derek McInnes will do him a favour. But it’s clutching at straws as Pedro announced when he arrived that his troops would beat Aberdeen twice.

They travelled up to Pittodrie and won 3-0 and this would have been the new video released by Sports Direct had it not been for the stunning fightback at Firhill when Rangers came back from the dead to grab the points.

How Pedro celebrated!

This is how it feels to be Sevco Rangers…
