PRESSURE? WHAT PRESSURE?
RONNY DEILA revealed he is thriving on the pressure after Dundee United boss Jackie McNamara insisted he was feeling the heat with the responsibility of being the Celtic manager.
The Norwegian watched as the SPFL champions coasted to a 3-0 win over the Tannadice side at Parkhead while taking another enormous step towards becoming only the fourth treble-winning side in Hoops’ history.
Deila’s men are now five points ahead of Aberdeen with a game in hand while they will take on Inverness Caley Thistle in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden on April 19.
He admitted: “I feel pressure all the time. But I enjoy that. It’s a positive pressure.
“I’d be very surprised if we have a big dip. If we keep the same tempo in everything we do, hopefully, we will win the three trophies.”
Celtic overwhelmed United with goals from Gary Mackay-Steven, John Guidetti and Jason Denayer in the first-half. Tannadice old boy GMS didn’t celebrate his goal and neither did striker Guidetti – much to his manager’s bemusement.
Deila said: “I don’t know why John didn’t celebrate. Maybe it was something he has learned on YouTube.”
United matched Celtic in the first encounter of their four-game shoot-out when the sides drew 1-1 at Tannadice in the Scottish Cup quarter-final. But they then lost 2-0 in the League Cup Final and 4-0 in the replay before yesterday’s defeat.
The Celtic boss added: “Was I surprised at how easy it was? You can see the effects of what three games in six days can do to teams.
“We do it all the time, but you could see United were tired today.”
