Prevailing attitude of hunger

1428

Judging by these quotes, John Guidetti may just be the most excited footballer on the planet right now:

“I’m just going to work my socks off…. do my absolute very best…. give 100%.

“The one thing I hate more than anything is losing. I can’t stand it.

“For 90 minutes I am always giving everything.

“You can always expect 100% from your players and I’m going to give that [note the repetition of this assertion].

“I promise I’ll do my very best to do even a little bit of what [Henrik] did.

“Football without fans is nothing, it’s not worth it for me.”

There is a common theme across a few players who joined this summer, they have something to prove.  Guidetti, Mubarak and Tonev each had a difficult time last season, for varying reasons.  They need to hit the mark, whether it’s through form (Tonev), fitness (Guidetti) or simply being able to play in an environment which is remotely normal (Mubarak).

Scepovic is different.  He arrives with the wind at his back, but the prevailing attitude at Lennoxtown should be one of hunger. I suspect this contrasts starkly with last year’s arrivals.

  2. From a usually reliable source on Another Club’s fan website:

Just thought I would share something interesting about Mike Ashley.

My company has some dealings with another company who have recently concluded a big deal with Sports Direct. It happened to co- incide with a trading aniiversary of Sports Direct so the Chief Exec of our connected company was invited along. They then spent 2 solid days including Mike Ashley at the Inter Continental Hotel in London, only drinking Champagne, and take-outs of spare ribs from the nearby Hilton. The hotel had to draw in champagne from nearby hotels as they ran out

The bar bill was £230,000, and that is the truth.

  3. Rangers edged closer to financial meltdown on Friday after former director Imran Ahmad succeeded in freezing £620,000 of the club’s cash.

In a hearing at the Court of Session in Edinburgh, Lord Stewart ruled in Ahmad’ s favour despite learning the stricken club have just £1.2million left in the bank and could soon be insolvent.

Rangers have vowed to appeal the verdict and will return to the court on Tuesday after a claim the club’s finances were the ‘envy of many English Premiership sides’ was rejected.

agree with you 100%, doesnt matter that their stadiums name can be changed for a quid, it’ll still be ibr*x, same as theyr’e still the same team as before, this mob won’t go away. But they’re hurting and we need to keep that hurt going, whatever guise they’re under

  7. Times have changed and I believe the new Rangers will be DEAD athough they may come back again and be the Third Rangers and may need to play at Cathkin Park

  8. Squire Danaher,

I agree with your ‘never surprised’ by our ticket office.

This is my 25th year as a ST holder, which doesn’t make me our best or most loyal supporter, but, I can quite proudly say I am faithful through & through .

My biggest gripe is the glory hunter fans who buy premium hospitality tickets for 2/3 years and then disappear when either their business goes t*** up, or the tax man queries their “entertainment ” budget.

Did they get offered Seville / glamour game tickets : Yes

    Do I : no

I am not sure there is a totally fair way to distribute tickets, but as a long standing ST holder, I feel they are getting more wrong than they get right.

Some posters on here may call me a malcontent, my own view is that having put my money where my mouth is for 25 years, I am entitled to voice my opinion.

  9. Good evening fellow Celts, I was wondering if anyone would have a link to the Sally interview/rant of last week. I have read comments regarding the interview, couldnt find it online.

    Thanks in advance.

  10. Sevco were on the verge of admin in April.

They borrowed £1million from Letham to keep the lights on

at the Mike Ashley dome until the ST money came in.

The ST money was way short of what is needed to keep the lights on

at Sports Direct arena for the rest of the season.

Letham now needs to be repaid.

Today’s judgement puts them on the precipice.

    Administration is the only option.

The writing was on the wall back in April.

The biggest scandal is the SFA/SPL allowed this obvious

financial car crash to happen aided and abetted by their

    friends in the media.

    My admiration to all concerned.

  12. clash and others…

I’ve had a season ticket from when the north stand was opened v Newcastle as had my two offspring, then v young now not so!!!

I pay under the original 4 instalments scheme and I’m in the HCT scheme.

I had only some aggravation when my son was a student and had to get a refund after his return to uni and once when a st card stopped working.

Tickets for euro games and home cup ties always come through promptly. Being in the scheme means I get more or less guaranteed tickets for semis and finals.

    Two things which do annoy…

    1) Didn’t get a Seville ticket. Very hard to accept.

    2) Only once got tickets for an away game!

So over a period of nearly 20 years very very few problems.

Not contradicting anyone, just my experiences.

I have been on home and away cup schemes for years

I always got the offer of Kilmarnock, Motherwell, St M etc

NOT ONCE was I offered a ticket for Aberdeen or either Edinburgh. The last time I was OFFERED a ticket for the Zombiedome was March 2000 when we lost 4-0 and S Mahe broke his leg.

I firmly believe there are those and such as those. I went to the TO to collect ONE Barcelona away ticket in October 2012 and provided details of hotel accommodation I had booked. I was treated like alternatively a criminal and an imbecile. I was told to go away and book a flight and I would get a ticket.

I asked why Celtic were effectively encouraging me to travel abroad without a ticket. I was then told that there were plenty available and I could come back and get one the next day. I stood my ground and argued the toss as I was not taking more time off work.

During this performance an individual walked in and was handed an envelope full of said Barcelona tickets as if he was God almighty and the TO staff appreciated they were lucky to breath the same air.

I eventually got one but was never closer to telling them where to get off.

  20. justafan

Celtic haven’t ‘offered’ tickets for away games for years. You simply buy tickets for away games once they’re available to ST holders on a first come first served basis.

  21. Justafan,

I know what you mean about the student bit.

My bill was set to go from c £700 to £1100 as my son crossed the 18 and student threshold in same year.

Not embarrassed to say I switched my son’s ticket to my daughter, and frankly Celtic can either lump it .

I looked this year at the revised student STs , but after spending time looking for details on. Celtic web, I discovered we couldn’t sit together, so I renewed on my daughters name.

    Are they really dead then?

Not just company/club/1872/bigotry/Struth – but the whole thing.

    Ibrox/Green/White/administrators/liquidators – all gone.

If that really is true then I’ll remember the men who brought us up in the 50 s and 60s, men who were exhausted at the end of a working day having been at the back of the bus, but who then insisted we spend an extra hour on homework. Men who built the original Cross on Muckish mountain, Donegal. I saw a post earlier today from An Tiermann saying he was going up Muckish today – when you get to the top my friend, look out over Creeslough, Dunfanaghy and Falcarragh and sing, just sing – Let the people sing, our stories and our songs….
