Prima Facie Day!

865

Prima facie day is here!  Neil Doncaster spent weeks telling us that the SPL had yet to establish if Rangers had a prima facie case to answer in connection with the alleged illegal registration of players.  Today he confirmed to the SPL board and the media that they do indeed have a case to answer.

Rangers Employee Benefit Trusts have been the source of considerable controversy since 2010 when it emerged that HMRC had taken action against the club, at the time claiming in the region of £24m.  EBTs had been recorded on Rangers accounts for a decade without much comment, so there was no reason to assume the club had made payments to players out-with the oversight of the football authorities.

On 22 February this year Celtic Quick News asked the question, were these EBT payments recorded with the SFA, or did Rangers hide them?  There was little reason for the club to hide them, unless, perhaps, they had something to else hide, which was beginning to look the case.

Today we have our answer.  Whatever is left of what some regard to be Rangers FC will be subject to some of the most severe disciplinary procedures levelled in the history of football.  Appropriate penalties for subverting the game for over a decade are impossible to define.

Celtic fans are not the only ones to lose from this illegal registration of players but they suffered significantly.  Five league titles went to Rangers, in 2003, 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2011.  All of these titles will be stripped from Rangers records and awarded to Celtic.

You can look forward to 12-in-a-row day soon, which is simply, CHAMPION!

They have a case to answer …….. And ‘THE’ are STILL going to be considered for entry into the league where that now defunct lot shafted / cheate the other teams for 10 to 20 years……..THAT IS BEYOND PATHETIC

If that happens, I will be claiming 10 years ST money back from SPL, and I mean that……. What a shameless organisation you are SFA / SPL ….. You are destroying SCOTLAND’S global reputation……and for what.? … To ensure more Manchesters ……..whoooofff

  2. Prima Donna

Originally used in opera or Commedia dell’arte companies, “prima donna” is Italian for “first lady.” The term was used to designate the leading female singer in the opera company, the person to whom the prime roles would be given. The prima donna was normally, but not necessarily, a soprano. The corresponding term for the male lead (almost always a tenor) is “primo uomo.”[1]

Famous opera prima donnas have often caused opera enthusiasts to divide into opposing “clubs” supporting one singer over another. The rivalry between the fans of Maria Callas and Renata Tebaldi, for example, was one of the most famous, despite the friendship of the two singers.[2]

The designation prima donna assoluta (absolute first lady) is occasionally applied to a prima donna of outstanding excellence.[3] This is applied by popular consensus, to those whose achievements place them in a category above all others. Joan Sutherland, Leontyne Price, Beverly Sills, Maria Callas, Renata Tebaldi, Birgit Nilsson and Montserrat Caballe are considered such among their peers.

The stripping of titles from old defunct Rangers is mutually exclusive from entry of a newco to the Scottish Football League.

Now that barred faced cheating is exposed completely and utterly any attempt to shoe horn a newco into SPL will meet with complete derision. Scottish Football will be dead.

Strip them of their cheated titles and allow the newco into Division 3. That is the only right and proper action open to any decent minded person.

If that happened it would leave a free licence. So rather than transferring it, they’d be applying for the free slot. I don’t know if that would make it more difficult or not for the vote to go through.

  5. This is magic!!

Not only are rangers dead, we get to dig up their corpse rob it of body parts and roll what is left into a ditch.

    Never in my wildest dreams…

Is the expectation that once the SPL establishes the facts that the SFA (Scottish Cup), SFL (League Cup) and UEFA (CL and Euro League) accept the SPLs investigation at face value without the need for their own investigations (on the assumption there that for SPL clubs there really is only one set of licensing rules)?

Or do we have the tome consuming farce of each body having top come up with their own conclusions based on their own rules?

Hopefully you might be able to shine some light on this matter. How can a club that no longer exists and a club that has no licence have a vote in the future of a club that doesnt exist and a club that has no licence?”

It strikes me that there’s enough in there to open up the proposal to a legal challenge.

Win or lose the delay would scupper the whole thing.

And to pick up the thread of the argument from earlier I think the Celtic board would have been more inclined to go down that road if the support had held off renewing their season books.

The heck with reallocating trophies, I want a ceremony at Hampden Park where former Rangers players and Managers hand back their medals and their trophies.

“And now, give it up for Barry Ferguson, handing back his League winners medal of 2003, together with…”

It would be brilliant. The tickets sold would go a long way to filling the financial gap in Scottish Football.

    Let’s get it on!

Time to dust down an old favourite song:

“Its magic you know, you’ll never beat 12 in a row!”

  10. Was wondering why I felt so lonely on the previous blog there !

One of the MANY things that I find odd about this situation is that I haven’t been given the opportunity to find out if I have it in me to feel sorry for any of them.

This is because they are still in a lemming like stupor and are totally oblivious to the fact their beloved insitution of hate, has actually ceased to exist!

Mibbes we should be congratulating the establishment for the clever process of hun expectation management – the boil the frog theory someone called it here ;))

  11. 67Heaven … I am Neil Lennon..!!..Truth and Justice HAS prevailed

They are being considered because they have formally applied. Only manners to consider it.

They will get 2 votes, themselves and Killie. Any SPL chairman who votes for them on the back of this is commiting suicide for their club, because their fans will stay away.

    bye bye ‘The rangers’

You have hit the nail on the head my friend with your post

The SPL have effectively announced that Rangers have been cheating Scottish football for over a decade

If that does not make EVERY SPL chairman vote ‘No’ on July 4th, then Scottish football is dead in the water

  16. Strip them to the bone!!!

I still think a big NULL AND VOID entry to the history books for the years the spl and other trophies were ‘won’ by tax dodging cheats fc, would be a permanent reminder to world football of what went on!!!

How come oldco, who are virtually extinct and have been cheating for a decade and more, are entitled to vote?

Surely there should only be 11 clubs eligible to vote?

(Not that I can understand why there is a vote in the first place, mind you).

  24. DubaiBhoy (nee LondonBhoy)

It was declared, all tax paid by Celtic and cancelled.

Shirley they should have a vote on whether Oldco should have a vote?

  29. From the SPL: “A general meeting of all 12 member clubs has been convened for 10am on Wednesday 4 July 2012 for members to decide whether to approve the transfer.”

    Who is the 12th member?

Oldco Rangers are liquidated…do they get a vote?

The The Rangers newco aren’t in the SPL so surely they can’t vote themselves in!

BTW, I received a response from the Trading Standards Institute regarding my questioning the legitimacy of the The Rangers new company name. They stated: “The Trading Standards Institute is a Membership & Training organisation, and as such we are unable to advise and provide you with the information you require”.

TSI suggest I contact the Citizens Advice consumer service at http://www.adviceguide.org.uk, but that doest sound right either. Any suggestions?

  31. The ability of oldco (or is newco) having a vote on admission to the SPL is al the more absurd now… Just say the EBT related charges had been executed in a more timely fashion, would oldco not have been busted out of the league by now?
