BRENDAN RODGERS has been voted Premiership Manager of the Month following Celtic’s five successive wins througout September.

And striker Adam Idah has picked up the top-flight’s Goal of the Month honour after his strike in the 6-0 rout against St Johnstone in Perth.

Rodgers and the champions’ £9.5million recruit from Norwich City in the summer enjoyed a spectacular sequence of success that kicked off with a 3-0 victory over Philippe Clement’s Ibrox side in the derby encounter at Parkhead.

It continued with a 2-0 win over Hearts at the same venue and then the Hoops hammered Slovan Bratislava 5-1 in matchday one of the Champions League under the lights in the east end of Glasgow.

A BIG HAND…Brendan Rodgers enjoys another Celtic win in front of the Parkhead faithful.

Idah, who had claimed nine strikes – including the Scottish Cup winner – during his short-term loan spell from the Carrow Road outfit last season – scored his first goal of the campaign against the Slovaks as he brought down the curtain on a memorable European occasion.

The Republic of Ireland international frontman bagged a double in the 5-2 Premier Sports League Cup win over Falkirk before his award-winning effort at McDiarmid Park last Saturday evening.

Idah put the finishing touches to a breathtaking move that saw Alex Valle backheel a dinked pass from Luke McCowan into his tracks and the powerhouse forward rolled in No.6.

Collecting his manager’s award, a beaming Rodgers, speaking to the club website, said: “I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of the team and my backroom staff.

SMILES BETTER…James Forrest congratulates Adam Idah after the striker had claimed the final strike in the 6-0 win over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.

“We have enjoyed a great start to the season with the team showing great balance and delivering excellent performances and results.

“Defensively, we have been fantastic in the League, with this solid base giving our midfield and forward areas the opportunity to produce some excellent football with real creativity.

“We go into our final match of this league section in good form and we will be looking to bring another great performance on Sunday against Ross County.”
