Profitable transfer fantasies

761

Neil Lennon did us all a favour yesterday by dismissing rumours that he was targeting a striker from Vitoria Guimaraes as nonsense this early in the transfer window. The guidelines are set for your summer ahead. As well as being nonsense, though, it is also profitable news fodder; just think of the amount of advertising which has been wrapped around this story.

What does this teach us? I reckon that the least informed contributions left on the CQN comments page are about as reliable as what passes for mainstream ‘news’. There is a good possibility that even the player didn’t know Celtic’s position on him until it was reported yesterday.

Celtic will be trailing up to 30 players at any point in time, all of whom will have passed one level of scrutiny, but at least 20 of whom would never pass all levels, even if a deal was possible. When players are being scrutinised the position of the club will always be to show courteous interest in proceedings. You and I know what this really amounts to.

The mindset has intrigued me for a while, the scrupulous adherence to the written words and relegation of the spirit behind them.

Then it hit me. Pharisees. Good old google found me the passages and a link to a wikpedia item I think about The Woes of The Pharisees.

Its not going to go well for them according to that.

    Funny you should mention barnacles.

Had you chucked a tenner on a horse of that name in the 2.00 at Southwell you could have paid someone to do it and had enough left over to get blootered.

An empty dance floor isn’t necessarily a bad thing as you obviously know. I remember one of the best DJ’s ever to grace the Metro having very few people up dancing, me and my pal were loving it though. Dave Angel played an incredible set but the locals just wanted what they hear every week at least 2 or 3 times a night.

Given that even he the Chief Pharisee would be unable to protect them from the consequences and acceptance by SFA that The Rangers acceptance game is a bogey and they will never return to their former strength (fueledby financial steroids) I cannot see any reason why he should remain as he becomes a liability.

It looks like a great swathe of the good ole CQN demographic spent the 90s sorted for Es and Whizz.

    That explains a lot.

Why don’t we start a Sevco transfer rumour and see how long it takes to gain ground in the MSM and the Sevco message boards. For example, Carlos Aguelar keen to return to Sevco. He now realises that it was a mistake to leave Sevco whom he considers to be the greatest club in world football with legendary supporters.

    Pass it on.

  14. Re Kayal, do any of us know what is in someone else’s head? Maybe he needs a run of 10-12 full games to get back to the form he demonstrated when he first signed. Stopping and starting 10 mins here and there does no good for any player. Alternative is (one of my pet theories), players need at least an hour from the start, or 30 mins as sub.

  15. So Charles Green sells a whack of his shares to Laxey Partners under an agreement from last October.

The other day I noted on here that it seemed that it was impossible for the RFC SP to drop below 56p, and I couldn’t figure out why.

It could be that this deal required an average share price over a set period of time to kick in. I say that because I note that not long ago the London Stock Exchange had the price at 55.5p

Any of our more learned City Bhoys care to comment?

I think he will find that he has the wrong players for his footballing philosophy.

However, they may relish the freedom to play football rather than adhering to a system,in which case he probably has a better squad of players than he has been used to!

He might also be delighted to have some decent defenders….

  17. Auldheid,

As ever, food for thought. This World is getting darker, I think the MSM is being more exposed than ever but TPTB are aware of this more than anyone and they will be a step ahead of the populace. It has never been a physical battle, it has always been a spiritual battle between Good and Evil. Thankfully, at a very difficult time, Celtic are fighting their corner with True Dignity and real Class and hopefully inspiring other clubs, communitees and people to a brighter future.

Celtic and their youth policies can re-invigorate Scottish Football but the Monsters at the SFA and The Rangers need to be chased out as they are unlikely to go, no matter how red their necks get.

I accept he has better players now, but given that Everton have no money to buy until they sell and the other clubs around them buying to improve, I think he could struggle. I also think that the pressure of staying at the top half of the league rather than the bottom end could be a burden and if the fans start to get on his back he could crumble. Just my opinion mate.

Glad he never came to the Hoops.

Kevin Thomson was a footballer before he went to Ibrox. Some supposed manager’s influence turned him into a ned who kicked everything that moved.

You’ll never read that in the SMSM but it is a fact.

He tried to boot everything that moved within weeks of arrival whereas before he was a footballer.

    Do the math.

*wasn’t there a young lad from Whitecrook, allegedly quite shy, who just after signing for them came off the park at half time complaining of lumps being kicked out of him to which his “dignified” manager replied “then kick them effin back”.

I usually find the transfer windows, generally quite boring, but I’m loving this one!

We are constantly being linked with quality players from all over the world, or our players are being linked with some of the world’s best teams at a cost of millions.

Meantime the reborn cash strapped sou’ siders are taking on donkeys and journeymen and couldny give any of their “players” away.

    What’s not to like?
