Celtic were not back to their brilliant best last night but two very fine goals and denying Partick Thistle any resemblance of a chance was more than satisfactory. Importantly, last night was the last onerous fixture Celtic players have the middle of February. There are no European or international fixtures until then, so our players will play the same amount of football as others in the league.
Partick were as poor at team as we have seen this season but it took an exceptional piece of play from Stuart Armstrong to open them up. Stuart and Tom Rogic both have the ability to win games from the edge of the area, an underappreciated resource.
The promise of Marvin Compper is that he is a fast central defender, good in the air and, more importantly, can receive and make a pass. The role of central defenders has changed beyond recognition since the days of Bobo Balde. They are now more playmaker than stopper. Celtic’s entire system of play depends on central defenders who can find space with passes out of defence.
There will be no resale value from Marvin, but at £1m he is an investment we can afford to write-off over the next two years.
Welcome to Celtic, Marvin.

Thanks for the info about the game in Spain, still sad to see one of the world’s great games being hawked around like a cheap tart !
Really looking forward to Saturday and seeing us put the Sheep to the shears!
Hope that Brendan gives Ajer, Ntcham, Moussa and Kouassi a start!
Ideally someone would short out Logan and Shinnie. No doubt the Sheep will be a totally different team from the one that crapped themselves at the Bigotdome recently!

I wish you all the best in your fight against this horrible disease . The medical staff treating you, will also fight to the hilt for your well being . Trust them , try to be positive and take care .

Pity i dont have that effect on my wife lol.
Really happy for you big chap.
Hope it all goes smoothly.
In the past I would take a mate rather one of the kids to hun games, as I didn’t want them subjected to the bile they sing.
I reckon it might be a case of adults using kids tickets that’s causing the problem.
I might be wrong but as long as a seat is getting used on an odd occasion i don’t see a problem, unless it’s being abused.

Hope all is well with you J and the kids .
As with Eurochamps , see you in Aberdour next year for a beer .

I posted more than once about this during Ronny’s time in the dugout and it didn’t seem of any great concern . I said then and say again , it does my tits in .
Since when did it become necessary to have every outfield player on the pitch in such a condensed area from a bye kick ??? Its like full time professionals become under tens . Why ?
Huge pitch , better players , faster players . Why not utilise the space left , even if its only one player like James Forrest .
Confused CSC.
MurdochAuldanHay–keep the faith. I had stomach cancer 31 years ago. Stomach out, spleen out, tip of pancreas, intestine, piece of osepegus. They were making sure . I had my chemo in the old Belvoir hospital, so antiquated I expected a Spitfire pilot in the next bed.I got through tat, then had tests just ten years ago and they removed polyps in my colon which were cancerous,
Just three years ago I had cancer in my lyph gland. Thanks to City Hospital and chemo I came out the other side.
So cancer 3 times in my life—I think someone’s trying to kill me.
Through all that I had a friend to talk to, Padre Pio.
I am convinced his intercession saved me.
There will be novenas to him on your behalf.
A musician friend of mind had the same diagnosis as you. He wasn’t a particularly religious man, but the power of prayer convinced him otherwise.
His name was Sean Maguire, known all over the worlg as of of the finest, if not the finest, fiddle players to come out of Ireland.
Sean had a voicebox fitted. It didn’t stop him being a divil. Some people are devils but divils has them bate.
Novena starting tonight.
I don’t know how Maguire enjoyed himself so much.
He didn’t even support Celtic.
Turkeybhoy – agree with you about Boyata. I think he is being let down by others. No idea how we will ever replace Scott Brown.
Liam Henderson is a fine young player who I’m sure will go on and have a successful and fruitful career. In my opinion I don’t think there’s any midfielder in our side who should lose their place to him. Good luck to him .
I hope BR. Has told his team what to expect over the next three games . I hope he has told them to expect a battle . Because everyone now knows that many in the celtic team don’t like it rough .
Don’t know anything about the new CH , but I hope he is a no nonsense type . And I also hope BR. Has noticed how soft a team he has , and has big plans to alter that main failing in the team , because this title is not yet certain , celtic are not playing well enough to take things for granted .
Didn’t read far enough back. Apologies to all those for whom football is a trivial matter just now.
