Celtic were not back to their brilliant best last night but two very fine goals and denying Partick Thistle any resemblance of a chance was more than satisfactory. Importantly, last night was the last onerous fixture Celtic players have the middle of February. There are no European or international fixtures until then, so our players will play the same amount of football as others in the league.
Partick were as poor at team as we have seen this season but it took an exceptional piece of play from Stuart Armstrong to open them up. Stuart and Tom Rogic both have the ability to win games from the edge of the area, an underappreciated resource.
The promise of Marvin Compper is that he is a fast central defender, good in the air and, more importantly, can receive and make a pass. The role of central defenders has changed beyond recognition since the days of Bobo Balde. They are now more playmaker than stopper. Celtic’s entire system of play depends on central defenders who can find space with passes out of defence.
There will be no resale value from Marvin, but at £1m he is an investment we can afford to write-off over the next two years.
Welcome to Celtic, Marvin.

The ST issue is indeed a worrying and unwelcome development.
We still do not know the real motive behind the letters. What we do know is that many fans were again asked for ID at the PT game.
As I am away at the moment, my wife opened the letter. She immediately jumped to the ” wrong” conclusion that she could not give my ticket to her brother for the PT game, the Sheep game or the ” Rangers” game.
I told her to ignore the letter and put it straight in the garbage bin.
If Celtic persue this , openly or by stealth then i fear Kev J will get his wish of emptying the stadium.
Keep on questioning and challenging on all fronts. It may not be popular, and many times I will disagree with you; the clique may even circle the wagons but it is absolutely necessary.

King loses in court yet again !
https://twitter.com/BBCSportsound/status/944165225791741952
A judge has ordered @RangersFC chairman Dave King to make an £11 million offer to the club’s remaining shareholders.
Let’s see how Jabba spins this and avoids the concomitant fall out
Record speak on glib and shameless guilty of tax evasion
‘King who has faced turbulent conflict with tax authorities in South Africa’
hurting huns,
This looks like areal problem for King. A lot of stickies are saying that the current price is 27p for a share so no-one will sell at 20p.
However, they got a motion passed at the AGM to put out a share issue that will have the effect of diluting the shares to around 14p when the 3 bears convert their soft loans to shares.
I’m not bang up to date on the stock market but if I had shares worth 27p that would soon only be worth 14p and someone said I’ll give you 20p for them just now I’d take it. Lose 7p just now or 13p next year? It’s not a hard decision.
So King spends approx £11M on shares just now that will be worth about £8M in a few months time; plus around £1M for the share issue. That’s a lot of money for someone who is penniless!

So does today’s CoS decision against our Dave mean the Ibrox festive menu will now feature “Cold Shoulder of Succulent Lamb” ?
EMBRAMIKE
Nope. Dead turkey,I reckon.
We have been sending some nice gifts to the wives and families of the Lisbon Lions and I have had some lovely feedback from Mrs Murdoch, Chalmers and Gemmell who all want to pass on their thanks to Celtic Quick News readers.
Which “journalist” will be the first to say something along the lines of… “It was obvious from the very beginning that King was unsuitable, and unable, to lead the club out of its financial crisis”.
I listened to Clyde the other night and Keevins was was already saying “we all knew from the very beginning that Pedro Caixinha was never capable of leading Rangers (sic) back to the top of Scottish Football (sic).
I am sure that in the future the reportage of Rangers and Sevco from the period of the initial Administration to the final death of all Ibrox entities (surely not long now), will form the basis of a module on a course on Journalism. The module could be entitled “Comparative case study, Investigative Journalism v Information management”

Lawwell got lucky, his downsizing was halted before the point of,no really, and I really mean really,no return.
So,crest of a wave by comparison-and I raised my concerns here when I first heard of the new ticket restrictions-and I’ll raise my glass to the Liaison officer who has to deal with it.
So,context,aye.

Spiv economics usually involves the spiv bumping the mark .. in Dave King’s case it seems to involve the spiv bumping the spiv …Sheer genius

Season tickets etc: Some years ago when spent more time in Spain I used to give my tkt to no.2 daughter AFTER paying extra at tkt office only to be told that I could only ‘do’ 3 times!!!!
Needless to say moved up to full book and she used it when I couldn’t .
Now that she has own season tkt I am back to concession ticket and have been now for 2 years.
‘Funny old game’ at least being a season tkt holder at Celtic is!!
‘It’s my season tkt Oh No it’s not…. Oh yes it is…. Oh no it’s not… ad infinitum.

This is some thing I posted earlier, thought you Bhoys might be interested in.
In the Servco Annual Report filed on 14th December 2017 the Independent Auditor’s Report contained the following paragraph:
“EMPHASIS OF MATTER – GOING CONCERN
We draw attention to note 1 to the financial statements concerning the Group’s ability to continue as a going concern. In order to continue operations for the next 12 months the Group is dependent upon raising additional finance to cover projected cash shortfall of £4m in season 2018/2019. Failure to secure additional funding would result in the existence of a material uncertainty which may cast significant doubt as to the Groups ability to continue as a going concern. The financial statements do not include the adjustments that would result if the Group was unable to continue as a going concern. Our opinion is not modified in respect of this matter.”
