Raith Rovers finished a comfortable second in the Championship and pushed Dundee United for the title until late in the season, so they deserve a crack in the Premiership playoff tie against Ross County. Raith have a greater fan base than County, so if they get their act together, should in theory offer more to the top flight. They are also not located at the farthest reaches of the land…..
While County could he heading into the Championship, the biggest team in the Highlands, Inverness, drop out of the division after losing their playoff against Hamilton Accies.
Just a year ago, Inverness kept their hopes alive in the Scottish Cup Final against Celtic until the final few minutes. In September they sacked Billy Dodds and appointed Duncan Ferguson, but the former Rangers strikers contrived to see the club relegated to the third their for the first time in quarter of a century. Ferguson declined to offer his resignation.

I did not say I am happy with the set up.
However, if a sponsor or a hospitality box buyer is spending £50k per season at celtic park for an 8 seat table, and then more for champions league, if one incentive for them is cup final and access to all away tickets first, then what can we mere mortals do.
Unfortunately, a season book gets you a seat, and a chance in the ballot,
That is the £600 season card v the £50,000 box buyer.
It was ever thus.
“We need top class players in.I am not saying pay,£ 60-70 thousand a week”
Well that’s O’Riley then…..down to good scouting, a bit of luck, and being able to sell Champions League football to guys.
as an aside, i am absolutely certain that pressure from the “box” holders and the “sponsors” for away tickets at snake mountain (and indeed their trough feeders for tickets at paradise) brought more wieght to the argument than sky and atmosphere and all that rubbish.
follow the money, keep the big spenders happy.
T7- I don’t think Celtic are any different to a lot of clubs in finals, but 3 tickets is a bit much.I heard both got 14k tickets, which leaves the same amount roughly for, sponsors, fatcats and giveaways
Good afternoon all from the Crystal Palace, Imperial, Hootenanny and the Scotia Bar. A great day with my pal Leggy. Next stops Shipbank, Sharkeys and the Brazen. You can never have enough good times. Always remember that my fellow Celts. 💚

Cyberspace still full of incredible images of the faithful in Trongate on Saturday afternoon.

I think I’d like to see our fans turning Japanese and cleaning up after themselves. Wouldnt take much but it ain’t cool in the UK to do something like that. A litter strewn Country.

Only liquidated clubs are the world’s most unsuccessful.
It’s a hard life when you’ve got no wife and the man down the road has got two. The man down the road is one silly dratsab. 🤣
Bada Bing at 4.03,
Sorry,no idea what your reply to my post meant. Your MOR comments, were they meant to be sarcastic,I have no idea.
BRRB
Condolences for your loss.
TB- no we struck it lucky with MOR,we could do with a bit more luck like that in the transfer market, we need to spend more on fees and wages in order to improve, we have the money to invest in the market ,which could build a squad for next 3 or 4 years,CL is a big draw ,and if they show up like MOR,they can move on to a better league. The way MOR has set out his career so far,he might want to try CL again with us,but I think a club will pay what we want for him.
Sorry lads and lassies I better clear this up. My Dad James McGuire passed away on October 31st last year. I buried his ashes in Killina cemetery, Roscommon beside his Mum on 14th May. Lovely service by Father John Gannon and attended by my cousins. Jim McGuire, may you rest in peace.
BRRB, sorry to hear about your dad, may he rest in peace. Take care.

I see John Mason MSP has called for a points deduction for Celtic’s celebrations in the Trongate- that guy is worth the watching- one of the OBaF holdouts and Strict Liability enthusiast.
Good evening all from the Tolbooth. Slight detour, forgot the Shipbank was closed. 🤣

I agree, however, there is no doubt a wage structure in place if you elevate that I assume that every agent of every player already in the Club will want their slice too. I thought it interesting that Neil Lennon when asked in Kilmarnock and at Celtic Park about strengthening the team he said that Celtic need to and that to be competitive in the Champions League you also need a higher pedigree of player but he emphasised, ‘if they’d come’.
—————————————————————-
Neil Lennon hit the nail on the head with the “if they’d come” remark.
It’s one thing telling the board to splash the cash on better players. It’s another thing getting said players to come and play in Scotland, especially when they have the chance of playing in a better league (in THEIR opinion).
And if the player we’re after is worth us paying them £XX,XXX per week, and/or a £5 – £8m fee, they will be of a standard that allows said player to wait for a better offer from a better league.
That’s the crux of our problem.
Basically, if we want to sign a player early in the transfer window, they are going to be “prospects” that are not expecting to get a better offer elsewhere.
If we want a more experienced / established / expensive player to sign for us, we are going to have to wait til near the end of the transfer window, when said player (and his agent) realises they are not going to get a better deal elsewhere.
That’s my honest opinion anyway.

I see BBC Scotland have wheeled out Johan Mjalby and Arthur Neumann to say something about the the forthcoming cup final (didn’t read the article).
Why ask Neumann for comment, he’s never played fo Sevco?
Wee Marie is more of a Tim that she lets on
With regards to the play off between Raith and whoever….
I’m no fan of Ross County or Levein’s Saints, but I hope whoever finishes 2nd bottom hammers Raith Rovers – if only to keep plastic pitches out if our top league. I absolutely hate them with a passion and hope they get banned from our top division asap.
