Promotion, relegation, shot in the arm

201

Swapping Livingston for Dundee United is the biggest shot in the arm for the Scottish Premiership since Motherwell’s playoff win in 2015.  St Johnstone have a one-point lead over Ross County with four to play in the fight to avoid the Premiership playoff spot.  Neither are in good form but at least County don’t have to cope with Craig Levein picking the team.

One of these two will face the winner of the Championship playoffs, either Raith Rovers, Partick Thistle or Airdrieonians.  Airdrie have never been a shining light in the world but it’s their plastic pitch that would cause most regret – the potential ban will not be in place for next season, if it comes at all.

Raith, Partick and St Johnstone each have a support base comparable to Motherwell and should be able to contribute something to the topflight.  This scenario is a lot better than two years ago, when the prospect of Arbroath missed the automatic promotion spot to the Premiership by two points.

  1. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Connor Goldson signed a new bumper four year deal after turning 30.

Heard a rumour that, as he gets older, a greater proportion of his earnings are linked to making a certain number of appearances.

He played 29 league games this season and was then suddenly dropped.

    I wonder why?

    🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

How is Michael Ball these days?

Unless satan erupts from the centre circle the smsm are gona look the other way

And to be fair, if satan does appear

They will whack a rangers top on him and tell the hoardes how fast they swooped to get him signed up lol

Happy to buy you a beer on Saturday and discuss the recent exchange of views. Social media and blogs are not the easiest communication vehicles to navigate and debate on. I am sure we agree on more than we disagree re Celtic.

I am usually in the middle lounge. I sit in section 205. Let me know if you fancy it.

A generous offer thanks but need a rain check. Weekend is a bit mad going from golf to lunch to CP then surprise 50th so running about a bit but it’s just the way I like it👍🏻

I agree the blog may not be perfect for exchanging views but it is what we have and I’d far rather have it than not. I just think some responses can be a more than a little sharp and condescending and than can force people away – that’s not good for the blog or the individuals……

    Everything crossed for Saturday

  14. Good Morning All,

WARNING LONG POST, NOT FOOTBALL RELATED AND DEFINITELY NOT PROMOTIONAL. JUST HAD TO TELL SOMEONE AND BRRB SAYS YOU SHOWER OF RASCALS WILL DO 🤣

    Hi John,

Not been on the blog much but still check in multiple times per day. Don’t much like posting non Celtic stuff yet I love hearing your travels around the Soo’side and afar and tales from other CQNers and what they are getting up to.

Today, however, I have to tell someone about one of our donkeys, Lizzie, who has captivated and enthralled us since her arrival the week before Xmas.

First of all, Lizzie is named after an Elderly woman with mental health issues who lives in a neighbouring village who is crazy about donkeys.

Lizzie arrived with a horrendous backstory and the more we discovered about her history the more we realised that her previous owner was a compulsive liar and complicit in the injuries she has sustained.

Worse of all – for Lizzie’s health – she had been put to a stallion and was now pregnant. We have no doubt that , considering the damage to her legs, particularly her front legs, this was a horrible thing to do for a donkey in such a poor state. We also knew that most sanctuaries would immediately have Lizzie put to sleep.

Our vet and our farrier were of a different opinion. They reckoned that antibiotics to treat her pneumonia and “new glue hooves” would settle her enough to have her foal…. and maybe give her another 4 or 5 years- enough to rear her foal at least.

The last 4 months have seen a a huge improvement in Lizzie but still no foal. Horses you can set your clock by – 11 months from conception to birth. Donkeys can go anytime between 8 and a half months and 13 months. So since the middle of March we’ve had a camera in her stable and have been keeping an eye on her through the night but so far no show.

    Until this morning!!!!!!!!

Don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl yet, but very excited.

Right…… back to worrying how to take 3 points off the horrible minis at the weekend. We’ll do it- nae bother.
