Property maintenance and stadiums

“If I hadn’t seen such riches, I could live with being poor.”  When Celtic Park hosted the Commonwealth games in 2014, we played Champions League qualifiers at Murrayfield.  It was an eye-opener.  Entrance and egress, catering and shops, space and the feeling of safety and comfort were a level above what I was used to in the at the back row of the North Stand at Celtic Park (since moved).

Last month, I engaged the club on the need to improve the spectator experience, spend some money, be more like Murrayfield.  I received an off the cuff but still detailed response on the millions spent each year to maintain and improve the stadium.

Property maintenance is a continuous job, especially in Scotland for buildings erected in the second half of the 20th century.  If you cut corners, you have a bigger job and a higher price to pay down the road.

Newco are caught in a property renovation bind that could be straight out of an episode of Grand Designs.  “Billy, a tax accountant from Glasgow, is building an eight-bedroom hovering home and has decided to project manage himself.  Billy remembers ordering the steel girders, but the Chinese supplier is no longer answering the phone.”  We are right to mock Billy.

You, me and James have seen such riches.  We want to sit down in a stadium fit for the middle of the 21st century.  What else are we going to do with all those millions?

  1. How many of Scotland’s squad were unused?

What was the point of taking Taylor & Jamsie?

We know Jack was the token hun.

  2. We needed to win tjat game. Scoring goals wins games. Not one shot on target is a damming stat.

  3. Clarke showed no faith in his squad/bench until too late in the game. We never looked like scoring until later on and then….. the sucker punch right at the death

Surely the point of taking James was to get him on towards the end of that game. The manager’s approach is play not to lose.

  5. I know there are some Scottish fans on here ;but that was embarrassing,.

You know you have to shoot to get a goal ,Rubbish

Yes and the hot is part owned by Billy Bowie and makes money, it was not removed from kilmarnoxk fc because it lost money, it was sold as an asset.

I want celtic to be world class on and off the field, that means investing in both with the money they have in the bank.

Standing still I going backwards as far as I am concerned and going back to the 1990s early 2000s to show ot was piss then does not excuse it ffs

  7. Scotland doing all out ball retention, I miss wingers, can we please get a few thanks

  8. Why not go with two up front in the latter stages, Conway and Shankland, gives the option of the long ball or the cross from Forrest or Morgan, try something different, the first half approach was never going to work, and yet we persisted well into the second half. Wouldn’t have went any further in the tourney but disappointing to go out to a less than impressive Hungary

Replacing the risk averse manager would be a start , maybe even look at a non Scot , or is that too radical an idea for the Jurassic FA?

The problems go much deeper than that though . Compared to most of the other teams in the tournament we look like a highland league team playing in the EPL . Blood ,sweat and snotters will only get you so far .

  10. My God that was a tough watch. I thought at one point both teams were playing out a contrived draw. Go out with a bang, not a whimper. Really poor show but at least the Celtic bhoys have come through without injury and we can now look forward to pre-season, some signings and Ipox out of use for the foreseeable
