“If I hadn’t seen such riches, I could live with being poor.” When Celtic Park hosted the Commonwealth games in 2014, we played Champions League qualifiers at Murrayfield. It was an eye-opener. Entrance and egress, catering and shops, space and the feeling of safety and comfort were a level above what I was used to in the at the back row of the North Stand at Celtic Park (since moved).
Last month, I engaged the club on the need to improve the spectator experience, spend some money, be more like Murrayfield. I received an off the cuff but still detailed response on the millions spent each year to maintain and improve the stadium.
Property maintenance is a continuous job, especially in Scotland for buildings erected in the second half of the 20th century. If you cut corners, you have a bigger job and a higher price to pay down the road.
Newco are caught in a property renovation bind that could be straight out of an episode of Grand Designs. “Billy, a tax accountant from Glasgow, is building an eight-bedroom hovering home and has decided to project manage himself. Billy remembers ordering the steel girders, but the Chinese supplier is no longer answering the phone.” We are right to mock Billy.
You, me and James have seen such riches. We want to sit down in a stadium fit for the middle of the 21st century. What else are we going to do with all those millions?

aye mac. i know iyt is a clever solution.
the point is the same, the queenferry was built to alleviate the traffic using the forth road bridge and maybe extend its lifecycle.
there was a greally good documentary about the corrosion of cabling, a wee while back.
as an aside,
i note now all 4 of rangers pre-season unfriendlies are away from home and scheduled though end of july.
they knew it was not going to be ready.
as an aside, that bbc commentator saying dusseldorf is getting on my nerves.
worked there a hundred times,
Doo sul dorf
never heard anyone say Duss ill durf
slovakia, get back there for talent.

The Ferry ran for around a thousand years, right up to when the Forth Road Bridge open.
They could never accept naming that Bridge or the latest one after the Queen who initiated it….
Margaret, Queen and Saint.
Though she is commemorated elsewhere in Scotland to be fair.
You can imagine it,Hun chairman” You moron,I told you to use Stubbs, and the minute my backs turned, you bring in that idiot,O’Riley Builders. And why?”Because they’re cheap”
I saw reports that Ibrox will not be ready until early October. Which is consistent with construction projects in a delay situation. This delay is roughly double the delay reported . The question Celtic should be asking is what aid is SPFL willing to do to aid Sevco. Will they give them first 8 games in league and league cup games away from home or insist they play home games at Murray field. The alternative would see then having 8 home games in the league in a row to balance up. This would clearly turn out to be an advantage for Sevco.

*At the top of Avenue Road, a major north–south street in Toronto, Ontario, which is a continuation of University Avenue to Highway 401, the second busiest highway in North America, is the parish of St Margaret Queen of Scotland founded in 1950.
Dubravka not very brave there. 2-1 Ukraine.
Maybe not so keen on him any more.

Will be flying whilst they’re playing so
NO DALEJ POLSKO!!
bigbhoy,
there is nothing in this situation that can be turned into an advantage for the rangers.
nothing.

Incredible woman all told, Saxon (Wessex), born in Hungary married to Malcom, Mother to Scottish Kings. Not to mention Saint and Queen. And of course founder of the Queens Ferry to help Pilgrims en passant.

Lol
quite funny on their forums …………………
hampden, rugby field,
windor park or engerland
we wont follow rangers.
Heard today that there is a lot of asbestos around the stadium so the time taken for the work is likely to be several months rather than several weeks.
Don’t know if this is true, but it would be nice. Also questionable if they have the cash to remove it.
SFA should tell them to close the stand concerned and operate with the parts of their own stadium that are fit for use.
No fixture rearranging or alternative venues involved. Problem solved.
Simply Asbestos….
Maybe- the Chinese Steel has been delayed at Suez due to Houthi activity in Yemen.
That’s what I was told when my 3 piece suite was delayed a month.
🎶 Don’t blame it on the sunshine
Don’t blame it on the moonlight
Don’t blame it on the good times
Blame it on the Houthis🎶
that celtic video for barrowfield, where did they get the steel from ?
there is a world wide shortage of it, forcing prices up , and delays with shipping.
i demand to know who the project manager is and what baord member is responsible for this omi-shambles.
SFTB
👏👏👏👍
I wonder if they’ll give us any tickets for a reduced capacity Ipox?
The irony would be sweet.

Interesting discussuon regarding the Queensferry crossing. I can understand the rationale for using cheap Chinese Steel. It is very cheap and there is plenty of it. In fact It may even be loss making for the Chinese ?
Amazing when you consider that it is a relatively new industry in China.
Was there a moral obligation to use home grown Steel and support jobs. ?
Time will tell regards longevity, but failing to allow for ice in Scottish winters seems incredible. Cant blame Tiking Toking for that.
I think the Huns might find their best chance of getting steel at a price they can afford would be to visit Steptoe and Son.
Simples ; their cheque was rubber 😀
It was a mistake to order their steel from Feen Yin Metals in Beijing.

*on her feast day November 16, Holy Mass was held in East End Park Dunfermline, a bus was ran from St Martin of Tours Parish in Renton to help celebrate the event.
Watching Engerland last night brought memories of our match against the the Norwegian minnows Bodo Glint. Celtic were the glamour bhoys expected to wipe the floor with Bodo who were in their close season, instead they played us of the park home and away just like the Danes last night who gave the English a football lesson . The English are found wanting when not in their club sides surrounded by some of the world’s best players.
I’ve started read The Communist manifesto by marx and Engels – holy hell it could have been written about today !!
I think I heard there will be a pilgrimage in Dunfermline in honour of St Margaret. Saddened me that they couldn’t bring themselves to name the latest bridge in her honour, especially as she set up the ferry across the Forth.
a pilgrimage tomorrow
🎶 Oh no seats at home
Just scaffolds to sadden my eyes
Big cranes on the pitch, while Celtic get rich
Makes every day the twelfth of July🎶
Not my composition but I thought it was worth sharing.
Am I the only person that thinks that is not a pen?

*are you surprised, hmmm, pre reformation the patron saint of Scotland was St Kessog, and that can be heard in the movie Braveheart when Mel Gibson chants in gaelic as they are attackin the english “for St Kessog and Scotland”
However, after the reformation there was nae chance that an Irish missionary and son of the King of Cashel would remain our patron so the calvinists gave it tae a Galilean fisherman.
