Property maintenance and stadiums

476

“If I hadn’t seen such riches, I could live with being poor.”  When Celtic Park hosted the Commonwealth games in 2014, we played Champions League qualifiers at Murrayfield.  It was an eye-opener.  Entrance and egress, catering and shops, space and the feeling of safety and comfort were a level above what I was used to in the at the back row of the North Stand at Celtic Park (since moved).

Last month, I engaged the club on the need to improve the spectator experience, spend some money, be more like Murrayfield.  I received an off the cuff but still detailed response on the millions spent each year to maintain and improve the stadium.

Property maintenance is a continuous job, especially in Scotland for buildings erected in the second half of the 20th century.  If you cut corners, you have a bigger job and a higher price to pay down the road.

Newco are caught in a property renovation bind that could be straight out of an episode of Grand Designs.  “Billy, a tax accountant from Glasgow, is building an eight-bedroom hovering home and has decided to project manage himself.  Billy remembers ordering the steel girders, but the Chinese supplier is no longer answering the phone.”  We are right to mock Billy.

You, me and James have seen such riches.  We want to sit down in a stadium fit for the middle of the 21st century.  What else are we going to do with all those millions?

Adam Idah in only his four month spell scored crucial goals including a couple against Rangers but to score the winner against them as the clock ticked towards the red zone in last month’s Cup Final and the bedlam aftermath will be a lifetime experience which I doubt could never be replicated at Norwich city. So let’s hope to fk he gets away and comes to where he is appreciated.

On a more serious note, I don’t think they can open the stadium with 3 stands if the asbestos in the 4th has been disturbed because it is literally toxic.

Having said that, I don’t know what’s more toxic, a stadium full of asbestos or a stadium full of huns 😂

Agreed,he did score crucial goals and i was so fortunate to be part of the chaos that exploded at Hampden when he prodded the ball in after Bernardo’s swerving shot.what sn end to our season and Adams loan spell.

I do hope he comes back, the ball tho is in Norwich hands as AI recently signed an extension and he prob is on great money in the 5th richest league at Norwich, where a new manager will decide where he fits into plans.I hope the pull of his own experience with us will be a big plus but reality is he is not our player,i hope we change that.

I didn’t think it was a penalty, until I saw the goalkeeper’s reaction. He offered absolutely no protest and even thanked the referee for only showing him a yellow card.

Not sure if Championship playerare on any great money. Adam has really prospered on the obvious superior coaching he has been getting with his mentor Brendan Rodgers who knows the lad since he was eighteen years of age and will have further experience of playing in the top European where he competition something he might never achieve at Norwich City.

  14. i was having a daft wee thought just there as i mix bloggers names up, but how come several of the good old match day posters are missing ?

If Scotland beat Hungary we will face 2nd in Group B — probably Italy — back in Cologne a week on Sunday.

A lot of tickets sold but many held back until last 16 fixtures are known. Most would go to registered supporters.

  17. !!Bada Bing!! on

Very harsh, ball was going in no matter what was in front of the GK,he wasn’t saving it

  18. Tom McLaughlin on

Correct decision. Keeper couldn’t get to the ball because of Dutch player in offside position, so he was interfering with play.

You can’t say he would never have saved it. That’s not the point.

  19. lets all do the huddle on

think they probably got that decision right.

my only query would be whether the keeper actually had any intention of diving for it?

    tough call
