Property maintenance and stadiums

476

“If I hadn’t seen such riches, I could live with being poor.”  When Celtic Park hosted the Commonwealth games in 2014, we played Champions League qualifiers at Murrayfield.  It was an eye-opener.  Entrance and egress, catering and shops, space and the feeling of safety and comfort were a level above what I was used to in the at the back row of the North Stand at Celtic Park (since moved).

Last month, I engaged the club on the need to improve the spectator experience, spend some money, be more like Murrayfield.  I received an off the cuff but still detailed response on the millions spent each year to maintain and improve the stadium.

Property maintenance is a continuous job, especially in Scotland for buildings erected in the second half of the 20th century.  If you cut corners, you have a bigger job and a higher price to pay down the road.

Newco are caught in a property renovation bind that could be straight out of an episode of Grand Designs.  “Billy, a tax accountant from Glasgow, is building an eight-bedroom hovering home and has decided to project manage himself.  Billy remembers ordering the steel girders, but the Chinese supplier is no longer answering the phone.”  We are right to mock Billy.

You, me and James have seen such riches.  We want to sit down in a stadium fit for the middle of the 21st century.  What else are we going to do with all those millions?

    I know Law 12

The forward did not breach any of the provisos under that Law.

VAR ruled otherwise, not the referee

    Wrong decision all night long

Maybe the Huns should ask the shipyards for some steel in return for all the workers they provided for the yards during the war.

He was standing right next to the keeper. Offiside and interfering.

BTW I bet Netherlands to win 1-0 so was delighted when they scored, but as soon as I saw the replay I knew it was not going to stand.

The goalie was miles away from the Dutch forward when the ball was struck towards the goal

You must be using a rule book fae the 70s to reach your conclusion

Times have moved on since then

  6. Tje ” giants” of Europe are boring.

Tje best games without a shadow of doubt are the so called ” lesser ” teams.

Exactly, it is not an offence to be in an Offside Position

    Unless……..

    None of those applied

  8. Forward offside…… but not interfering with play….so …GOAL.

    They got it wrong………AGAIN.

And dont forget, the referee did not make the decision

*the games rigged, I watched the Argentina/Canada game last night and the ref was an absolute homer, in the Canadian players faces all the time and turned down an absolute certainty penalty which later footage proved it was, and yet no need as this was the World Champions playing against a country who favour hockey and basketball.

I think the decisions in this tournament, have been good,,VAR has been quick, but 2 bad ones in France v Netherlands disallowed goal, and the penalty Austria got which was wrong

And you have got to ask yourself, a goal disallowed, a penalty denied, sometimes without the referee being involved. Technology gives new tools, with which to implement implicit bias, something you and me both, as Celtic supporters have experience first hand. And dont forget how we were told how the new tech would make offside decisions so much quicker, didnt happen, Virgil was left talking to the ref on the pitch while the VARS were trying to figure out a way to disallow the goal, it took forever. A bogus process leading to a bogus decision.

Not sure if Championship playerare on any great money. Adam has really prospered on the obvious superior coaching he has been getting with his mentor Brendan Rodgers who knows the lad since he was eighteen years of age and will have further experience of playing in the top European where he competition something he might never achieve at Norwich City.

I would direct you to Swiss Ramble on twitter who does analysis for most club,i think you will be suprised at the amount of monies in the championship.

I will take your word he has prospered under Brendan,i only knew him as being on the bench i irelands u21s,

Yup carrots of playing Champuons league and in a trophy winning successful, and Brendan too,i hope we land him, alas the power is all with the club he is with Norwich and himself as under Bosman players have the power, but with 3 years left on his contract there is a certain dignity and respect in how we(Celtic) conduct business with Norwich,a lot will depend on what them/their new manager aspire to this season.

The whole Idah thing is in Idah’s hands.

All he needs to do is have an absolute shyte of a pre-season.

Then Norwich will put him on a bus up the road…..

    And….TONTINE TIM….

You are spot on re the ref last night. Surprised that he didn’t ask for Messi’s autograph and jersey at full time.

    Cheers,

  15. A little bit of irony with BDO submitting their final report that the damage done to the r2angers syche birthed and watered by Minty, meejah and fanbase,is now running on empty. The ‘goodwill’ is coming home to roost.A club with no cash,a media that fails to investigate and ask pertinent questions(who was sacked?what damage structurally is there? And a fan base that does not know where they are watchin nexr season .

God bless Celtic💚 thats whar professionalism looks like
